Mountain view Hotels in Seoul

The Shilla Seoul is by far the most comfortable hotel I stayed at during this trip to Seoul. Having had a great experience at the Jeju Shilla previously, I wanted to see how the Seoul property would compare. The bedding was comfortable, and the shower had fantastic water pressure—the kind where you can actually have a proper shower. They use Dyson hair dryers instead of the old-fashioned ones, which was quite nice. As for the service, the staff all had rather professional, practiced smiles; I just wish they could be a bit warmer to Chinese guests! I loved the smoked salmon at The Library bar—it was insanely delicious with top-notch quality, plus it came with my beloved dill! We ate it for several days in a row! The live singers, both male and female, were quite good and created a great atmosphere! However, a middle-aged male waiter with glasses at the bar was rather snobbish and treated Chinese guests differently. Also, the legendary pastries from the bakery were, in my opinion, quite mediocre. On the downside, the pillows were much too high, which could easily give you a stiff neck. The room rates have gone up a bit ridiculously. You don't need an adapter to charge your devices, and there are plenty of outlets in the room, which is a big plus! Established luxury hotels are still a safe bet, and you can see quality in the details.

🤞 This was my first time booking a capsule hotel, and I hesitated for a long time, only daring to book after seeing so many positive reviews. After staying here, I give it a massive thumbs-up and highly recommend it! 😘 When I arrived, the overall vibe was really nice. 1F has self-service check-in and check-out. Check-in is strictly after 3:00 PM, but you can store your luggage on the L floor (free for 6 hours). The L floor lobby and cafe have a very chill atmosphere. The shared capsule area was super quiet and super clean. There are separate luggage storage areas, separate restrooms, separate shower rooms, and a separate vanity area—unexpectedly clean and tidy! Since everyone was staying solo, the guests were also very considerate and high-class; it was super quiet with no one talking. The only thing that bothered me, as a light sleeper, was at night: because some people came in rather late, even without talking, you could still hear the movement as they went in and out. As a light sleeper, I couldn't get into a deep sleep because of this. 👍 The biggest surprise was that when I came back the next day, the hotel had left free room upgrade notices in both Chinese and English on my bed and locker door! They upgraded me to a private bunk-bed capsule room! It was amazing! The room soundproofing was super good, not a single sound! 👏 Lastly, I almost forgot to mention that the hotel's location is prime. It's right at the Myeongdong Subway Station exit. Lotte and Shinsegae duty-free shops are both nearby within walking distance. The Namdaemun children's clothing market is also close by, and the Olive Young Myeongdong flagship store is right across the street. All in all, it's super convenient! You can walk pretty much anywhere!

Everything else was top-notch and, in many ways, exceeded our experiences at other Four Seasons properties. However, one aspect we found disappointing was the strict minimum spending requirement per guest. We were traveling with children, yet regardless of their age, we were required to meet a minimum spend of approximately $150 per person to be seated at both the terrace restaurant and the Japanese restaurant. Even at the Italian restaurant, we felt pressured to order both appetizers and main courses for the children. While the food and service were excellent, these policies made dining with a family feel less welcoming and detracted from an otherwise outstanding stay.

During this stay, we booked a triple room. Worried that the kids might roll off the beds while sleeping, we pushed two of the beds together ourselves. To our surprise, the housekeeping staff noticed this arrangement the next day during cleaning and thoughtfully changed it to a large bed sheet suitable for combined beds. This completely eliminated the gap between the two beds, so we no longer had to worry about anyone getting stuck in the middle. This thoughtful gesture from the housekeeper exceeded our expectations and the attention to detail was truly heartwarming. The original showerhead in the bathroom was a bit worn out, but after we reported it to the front desk, a maintenance person came up very quickly to replace and fix it. The water flow from the new showerhead was strong, and the response time for resolving the issue was impressive. The location offers a quiet retreat amidst the hustle and bustle—it's just a 7-8 minute walk to the main Myeongdong shopping district, and Gyeongbokgung Palace is only two or three subway stops away. There are a few convenience stores right downstairs, which is very convenient. Finally, they even helped me find my lost plush toy, and I was able to arrange a courier service for it myself. The breakfast was also good and very delicious.

The hotel is conveniently located right outside Gate 6001 of the airport bus stop (Hoehyeon Station), and there are subway entrances within a few minutes' walk in either direction. It's about a 15-minute walk to Myeongdong, which is a bit of a distance. There was a BBQ smell in the lower levels of the hotel, and I suspect the front desk assigns rooms based on nationality because the first thing I noticed upon entering my room was an unpleasant odor. The hotel fridge had complimentary drinks, and the bedding was very comfortable. It's the quality you'd expect from an InterContinental hotel, and the housekeeping and service were excellent; they cleaned the room promptly and thoroughly every day. Across from the hotel, at the entrance to Namdaemun Market, there's a rather simple restaurant that serves delicious knife-cut noodles. It was full of locals, and a small bowl was more than enough for a woman.

The room was a bit bigger than I expected. We booked a quad room on the top floor, and as soon as you open the door, there's a staircase, which felt a little dangerous. The stairs are quite narrow overall. You can only take the elevator to the 4th floor, which was a minor inconvenience since it's a service elevator not really for guests. Other than that, everything was great. The room had an international power strip, two shower heads at different heights, and a large balcony. The room was also very clean! The shared space on the first floor had a microwave, hot water, and a scale. Most importantly, the location is excellent! 👍 I'd definitely stay here again!

I simply love this hotel!  Of course, it has aged over time ( like myself! ) so it is not as shiny as I remember it, but the location is great and the staff are all very nice.   The first 2 days, I was not able to encounter one staff member I remember from my previous visits, but when checking out today, he happened to be present!!! Exactly as I remember him, warm, friendly and wonderful hospitality.  He is the reason I will stay here whenever I visit Seoul.   Thank you for making my trip to Seoul wonderful every time!!!

I booked a twin room this time, and for someone like me who's used to a firm mattress, it was a bit too soft. The location is excellent, right by Jongno 3-ga Exit 14, which has an escalator, so it's less than a 2-minute walk. The room amenities include a TV (no YouTube or Netflix, but paid movies are available), air conditioning, a mini-fridge, a wardrobe, a bedside table, a safe, and a hairdryer. The room itself isn't huge, but the bathroom is a decent size, and there are plenty of outlets. The basement offers free self-service laundry facilities, complete with detergent, which is super convenient for travelers.

Location is good. Away from hustle bustle of the tourist spot. 3 bus stops away to myeongdong. Trains about 5-7mins walk. There’s bakeries nearby the hotel, across the road at the junction which we only noted on last night there.. up the street.  The room is kind of old. Broken wardrobe n toilet no seperator btwn wet n dry. Shower hose cant adjust the position, so if u let it hang n shower, water will flow outdoor. There’s a gap in the bathroom door. Had to hold the shower hose while showering. No area to put the shower gel or shampoo. Hv to keep going to the sink to pump it. Toilet rolls poor quality. There is no conditioner too. Ironing items to take from counter. Its a small one.. hv to use on the floor! I booked family room with namsan tower view but was given without namsan view! When i asked the counter man, he said we gave u a bigger room but that was not communicated during checked in. N i saw that all rooms are the same actually! He got angry when i said the room are old n broken. N iron board not available! He shouted ! So poor customer service! Cleaning not properly done. Hair in the bathroom n the plastic from toothbrush is still there for 3 days!! Its on top of toilet roll box! I should hv checked carefully before booking..

The location in Dongdaemun was super convenient. The room was also more spacious than I expected, which was great, although it was a bit disappointing that the toilet door didn't close completely. Well, at least the toilet and bath were separate, so it wasn't a huge deal. We could watch YouTube on the TV, but the signal was poor and it kept disconnecting. I was satisfied with the full cleaning service offered for stays of 3 nights or more.
