"I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always willing to help with anything we needed and making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The room was spotless, comfortable, and well-maintained — exactly what you hope for after a long day of travelling. One of the best parts of the stay was the location. It couldn’t have been more convenient, situated right beside the station and within easy reach of everything in the centre. It made getting around the city effortless. Overall, a great experience — I would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area."

Outstanding
DDruchiiHaving enjoyed a previous stay in February, I chose to return this July. I requested an east-facing room and was delighted that my wish was granted. The sunrise view towards the Skytree and the National Diet Building around 4:30 AM in summer is absolutely breathtaking, easily rivaling any dedicated observation deck experience. The Japanese set breakfast was both substantial and delicious, and the serene view of pine trees reflected in the restaurant's pond was incredibly soothing. Furthermore, perhaps owing to its prime location near the National Diet Building and the Prime Minister's Official Residence, the hotel offers incredibly convenient direct underground access to public transportation, yet the street-level environment remains remarkably quiet and tranquil. The staff were exceptionally courteous and friendly, and the presence of Chinese-speaking personnel ensures that Chinese guests will face virtually no language barriers. On a delightful side note, the ambient fragrance used in The Capitol Hotel Tokyu's corridors is utterly captivating – I highly recommend making it available for purchase at the hotel's souvenir shop! I will absolutely be rebooking here for my next trip to Tokyo.

KkeyorkThis hotel is located behind Sensoji Temple, a straight walk from Kannon-dori next to Kaminarimon. It's about an 11-minute walk from Asakusa Station on the Ginza Line. However, if you're heading to Narita Airport, you'll need to transfer at Asakusa Station on the Asakusa Line. The hotel is very new, and you check in using a self-service tablet. Breakfast is offered, but you need to select it yourself at the front desk. I had an early flight the next morning, and the hotel didn't provide any reminders, so definitely don't forget to book it! The rooftop offers views of the Skytree and a panoramic view of Asakusa. The hotel is clean and tidy, and offers great value for money. I recommend staying here.

DDonna MarinaThe room was very new, and the shower wasn't small with plenty of hot water and strong pressure. The location was convenient, and the bed was comfortable. If two people are staying with large luggage, it's best to book a deluxe room, not the smallest one. The small gift upon check-in was a nice touch. The toiletries included good skincare products, but I had to specifically ask the front desk for cotton swabs, so the amenity set wasn't very complete. Surprisingly, there was only a yukata and no pajamas – I've stayed in so many hotels in Japan and never encountered one without pajamas. There also wasn't any garment deodorizer spray in the room, which is quite unusual. The breakfast was delicious, but the open kitchen had a very strong smell. I'd recommend improving the ventilation, as I always had to shower after eating breakfast. Overall, it was still very good! It's close to Akihabara, Don Quijote, Matsumoto Kiyoshi, and more.

GGuest UserThis is an excellent choice that we made in this visit to Tokyo. The hotel is located in a quiet but super convenient place. The train station is just 2 minutes walk and you can easily reach Tokyo station or Disney Land within 10 minutes. The Keiyo line there connects with Hibiya line that you can go to other places such as Ginza, Ueno,... without transferring in Tokyo Station. The supermarket is just next to the station. Familymart is just downstairs, and Ministop or 7/11 are just around there. The hotel facilities are excellent, especially the laundry machines - they are supergood - the best I've ever experienced so far in Japan's hotels. I will definitely re-book for my next visit to Japan in the future.

LluciferchengThe hotel is conveniently located near JR Shinjuku Station, right by the Metropolitan Government Building. The lobby is on the second floor, and the hotel itself is split into two buildings. You can enjoy a light show from your room at night. The room was quite spacious, though the bathroom facilities looked a bit dated. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to Kabukicho. This is an older, established 5-star hotel.

GGuest UserThis is my go-to hotel every time I'm on a business trip. The rooms are spacious, there's a great variety of dining options, and the transportation is very convenient with a subway station nearby. The breakfast is abundant, and there are plenty of shops and convenience stores in the area. Plus, you can take a walk at the stadium in the morning or evening.

ZZhaomuweiAside from the room being a bit small and the price being a little high, everything else was great. The staff spoke fluent English, which was very helpful. The tap water is drinkable, which is convenient. The airport limousine bus stop is right outside, offering direct service to Narita and Haneda. There's a Montbell store downstairs, which might be the best one in Tokyo. Within a five-minute walk, you can reach Lumine 1 & 2, Keio Department Store, and Takashimaya. Shinjuku Bus Terminal offers direct access to Disneyland, the JR Keio Line goes to Sanrio Puroland, and the Yamanote Line connects to Shibuya, Ikebukuro, and Nakameguro. The Odakyu Romancecar provides direct service to Hakone Yumoto. In short, it's a prime location.

JjellykoiThis hotel is quite famous, so the price isn't cheap; it's comparable to a 500 RMB hotel in China. Not all rooms offer great views. Lower floor rooms only look out onto air conditioners and the roofs of nearby low-rise buildings. I recommend booking a higher floor room. The elevator lobby offers excellent views, worth checking out. Its convenient location is, of course, a big plus.

DDouglas 戴This hotel looks decent from the outside and the location is good, but the service is honestly the worst I’ve ever experienced in Japan. There is no proper drop-off area, so I had to stop briefly by the roadside while my wife went in to check in and I handled the car. She asked a staff member named Pandey for help with the luggage. She had four large suitcases and was the only guest checking in at the time. There were two staff members in the lobby and no other guests, yet his response was a blunt “No.” No explanation, no apology, no attempt to help. Just no. If the luggage trolley in the lobby is not for guests to use, then it’s completely pointless. Things got worse after check-in. I called the front desk to ask for a toothbrush and an extra face towel. The call was answered by the same staff member. His tone was rude and aggressive. He said, “You just checked in, right? The towel is in the room.” I repeated that I needed an extra towel, and he hung up the phone on me. This was not a misunderstanding. It was rude, hostile behavior. We felt unwelcome and disrespected, which is especially shocking in Japan, a country known for hospitality. A good location and nice exterior mean nothing if staff treat paying guests this way. Refusing basic assistance, hanging up on guests, and creating an uncomfortable atmosphere is unacceptable. Until management seriously addresses this issue, I cannot recommend this hotel.

GGuest UserShinjuku Granbell Hotel was my accommodation choice during this Tokyo Shinjuku trip. Part of the design-oriented Granbell chain, the hotel opened in 2013 and expanded with additional rooms in 2016. It has a modern and stylish vibe overall, making it a good fit for travelers who enjoy a bit of personality and contemporary feel. The rooms are decent—not particularly spacious (typical for central Tokyo hotels), but the design is pleasant and they come with Simmons mattresses, so the bed is comfortable to sleep in. What stands out is that the hotel has a very large number of rooms (reportedly over 400 in total), making it a mid-to-large-scale property. Check-in can occasionally feel a bit busy in the lobby due to the volume of guests, but operations run smoothly. Room types are quite varied, from standard doubles to loft-style rooms, offering good flexibility when booking. Location is one of the more debated aspects of this hotel. It is very close to the heart of Shinjuku—right inside Kabukicho—so you’re surrounded by endless restaurants, izakayas, convenience stores, drugstores, and nightlife. Walking distance covers popular spots like Korean Town in Okubo or Golden Gai, which makes evening strolls and late-night eating extremely convenient. However, if you rely on the subway, the nearest station (Higashi-Shinjuku) is about a 4-minute walk (official figure), but to reach the major hubs like JR Shinjuku Station or Shinjuku-sanchome Station, it usually takes around 15 minutes on foot (depending on your exact route, and sometimes you have to navigate through the lively Kabukicho crowds). For someone who enjoys walking, it’s manageable, but dragging large luggage or walking in the rain might feel a bit inconvenient. In short, the location is highly central and vibrant, but it’s not quite “step out the door and you’re at the station” level. Room cleanliness is acceptable—daily housekeeping is thorough, with bathrooms, bedding, and floors kept in good condition, and no noticeable odors or mess. Everything feels clean and comfortable enough for a pleasant stay, but there is nothing particularly outstanding about it. The decor follows a simple modern style, facilities are standard (free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, fridge, etc.), and while functional, it doesn’t wow you. Bathrooms are on the small side (normal for Tokyo), but hot water is reliable and usage is fine. They also offer free loan of air purifiers or humidifiers, which is a nice small touch. Other minor highlights include the rooftop terrace (great for night views or a drink on clear evenings), a café, and a bar with decent atmosphere. Breakfast is an additional charge, but with so many dining options nearby, skipping the hotel breakfast is never an issue. In summary, Shinjuku Granbell Hotel isn’t a top-tier luxury property, but if you’re looking for a lively Shinjuku location, moderate design appeal, clean and practical rooms, and surroundings full of energy and food options at a mid-range budget, it’s a solid and pragmatic choice. The large number of rooms means availability tends to be reliable. While the walk to major stations takes about 15 minutes, for anyone wanting to fully immerse in Shinjuku’s nightlife and buzz, that actually becomes an advantage. Overall value for money is above average. Recommended for first-time Shinjuku visitors who want a fun, convenient, and comfortable base without breaking the bank!
