For my recent 3-day, 2-night leisure trip to Yangzhou, I decisively chose the Shangri-La Hotel, Yangzhou, and the location truly was unbeatable! The hotel is right next to Mingyue Lake, surrounded by a whole cluster of cultural amenities. The Yangzhou Grand Theatre, Art Museum, Museum, and Library are all connected, just a short walk across the street. It was incredibly convenient for visiting exhibitions and galleries.
I managed to squeeze in a visit to the Yangzhou Museum and saw the national treasure, the 'Dragon Pattern Vase,' with my own eyes – incredibly rich in history. I also picked up some lovely museum merchandise, which really enhanced the experience. The night view of Mingyue Lake in the evening was particularly stunning, with a fantastic illuminated ambiance. There were many locals strolling along the lake, and the evening breeze was delightful, creating a wonderfully slow-paced, relaxing atmosphere.
This time, I stayed in a Horizon Club Deluxe Lake View Room, which was truly an immersive staycation experience. The 60-square-meter room was incredibly spacious and airy, and the bathroom was also huge, making for a very comfortable and unconfined stay. The hotel is a well-established five-star property; upon entering the lobby, you immediately feel its stable and luxurious ambiance. Although the room facilities show a bit of age, they are exceptionally well-maintained, and the overall quality of the stay was excellent.
The Horizon Club executive benefits were genuinely great value. In the afternoon, you could leisurely enjoy afternoon tea in the lounge, and the evening light meals were also excellent quality, with refined dishes that weren't just token offerings. It was a one-stop shop for food, drinks, and entertainment without even having to leave the hotel – a truly full-on vacation vibe.
The hotel breakfast offered a huge variety, including many local Yangzhou specialties. You could enjoy authentic Huaiyang breakfast dishes without going out, and the flavors were very authentic. Most of the service was also very good, with prompt responses to daily requests and thoughtful attitudes.
My only minor complaint: One evening, returning to the hotel, I was abruptly stopped by a lobby staff member who curtly asked, ”What are you doing here?” This was a rather unpleasant experience. As a high-end five-star hotel, staff should ideally greet guests with a smile and proactively offer assistance, rather than asking blunt questions. There's certainly room for improvement in their service awareness.
The hotel's travel photographer, Xiao Yu, was excellent; he captured some photos we were very happy with.
Overall, I was very satisfied with the location, environment, room type, and dining. It's a highly recommended choice for a relaxing, slow-paced vacation in Yangzhou or for those wanting to visit cultural and museum venues. I would definitely recommend staying here!"

2026 Global 100 - Gourmet Hotels"This trip was absolutely fantastic! We stayed for two nights, opting for family rooms so the kids could have separate beds, allowing one adult to rest comfortably. We started in Room 11 for the first night, then moved to Room 18. Honestly, just booking Room 18 would have been enough – the facilities were excellent, the environment was beautiful, and they even had peacocks, rabbits, and a game room. The hotel shuttle was incredibly convenient. We took the kids around to feed the rabbits, koi, ducks, and swans, and even saw peacocks displaying their feathers. The service was also top-notch. We tried out Qu Yuan, Shan Restaurant, and 7 Chi 8 Ba, and all of them were delicious. We accessed Slender West Lake via the hotel's convenient gate, where we took a boat ride with the kids and fed pigeons. The breakfast buffet at Building 18 was also amazing, with a wide variety of options, leaning towards Western fare, including various cheeses and omelets. We were already planning our next visit before we even checked out. Next time, we won't even need to leave the hotel; there's plenty to do right here!"

The experience was fantastic from the moment I arrived – the security guard proactively helped open the car door and carry my luggage, and the front desk staff were gentle and efficient, getting me checked in within 3 minutes.
The room features smart voice control, and it's fully equipped with a Dyson hairdryer, smart toilet, and capsule coffee machine. The bedding was so comfortable I didn't want to get out of bed! The biggest surprise was the amazing balcony view; I could see the beautiful sunset in the evening! Room service deliveries are handled by a cute and convenient robot.
The location is superb, very close to Slender West Lake and Dongguan Street. For breakfast, they even offered authentic Gaoyou salted duck eggs – rich and oily, perfect with white porridge! The parking lot also has charging stations, which is a huge plus for electric vehicles.
Upon checkout, the butler even gifted me some Yangzhou Niupitang (a local candy) as a souvenir. A hotel with such perfect hardware, service, and attention to detail is truly rare in Jiangsu. I'll definitely be booking this place again on my next visit to Yangzhou! 💯"

No. 3 of Scenic Hotels in Yangzhou"Let's start with the downsides: Since the family room can accommodate three adults, there should be three sets of towels, bath towels, tooth mugs, drinking glasses, and coffee cups, not just two. Even children or teenagers need their own bath towel and tooth mug. Also, the curtain button was sometimes a bit unresponsive.
Now for the positives:
1. The location is excellent, making it convenient to get anywhere. You can walk to the South Gate of Slender West Lake, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby.
2. The breakfast was good; while not exceptionally lavish, it had everything you'd expect. The coffee came from a machine and tasted great.
3. The terraces on four of the floors are a major highlight! Breakfast is on the 11th floor (top floor), and on a nice day, you can dine on the terrace, enjoying the lush forest view and a distant glimpse of the Qiling Pagoda while being shielded from the sun – a fantastic experience. You can also enjoy the night view in the evening.
4. The hairdryer is a Dyson, and in the lobby downstairs, there's a coffee machine, tea, hot water, and bottled water available."

"Facilities: There is an air purifier in the middle of the two rooms in the super in place. The bathtub in the room, the table, the air purifier, the projector, let alone the superb. I have lived in so many hotels. The three sides are really the ceiling! ! !

Environment: Surrounded by the downtown area, there are food and play. It is difficult to park there, but the hotel has its own parking lot. It is really key! ! And there are kittens in the hotel. Super handsome. When you see people, you will come.
Service: We stayed at night. The front desk lady was very good. She also took me to park the car in the parking lot. Various problems will be solved as soon as possible. The emotional value is full."

"It is said that it is the version of Hanting Hotel's 4.0, which is really beautiful and well equipped. There is free coffee, tea in the lobby, and a place to rest, spacious and bright. It is very convenient to drive to Yangzhou Sun Island Golf for 6 minutes. There are some restaurants around to eat, and it is enough to eat casually. The front desk and the cleaning aunt, the aunts and uncles in the restaurant are very good, the attitude is kind, and they take the initiative to say hello. Although it has just opened, the room has no taste of decoration. But there are too many big trucks on the road, a bit dangerous, the room on the road is a bit noisy, but the flaws are not concealed, it is highly recommended for playing ball on business trips 👍 and the nearby Guzhou Gudu Park is also worth seeing."

The hotel's location is absolutely perfect for a trip to Yangzhou; it feels like Daming Temple, Slender West Lake, morning tea, the Ancient City Park, and Yangzhou Banquet are all part of the hotel's amenities. The best part? Soaking in the hot springs after a long day of sightseeing is the most anticipated moment of the trip. We loved it so much that we immediately extended our stay for another night. Highly recommended! For a family of three, getting this level of service, scenery, and amenities for just 200 per person is truly excellent value. It's definitely our top choice for visiting Yangzhou with kids."

Ruan Yuan's ancestral home was in Yizheng, Jiangsu Province. He was born in a family of officials in Yangzhou in the 29th year of Emperor Qianlong's reign. His grandfather was a military scholar and served as a general in Hunan. His father entered the imperial academy at a young age and studied "Zuo's Spring and Autumn Annals", becoming a master of classical prose. His mother, Lin, also came from an official family and was well-versed in poetry and literature, with good cultivation. Growing up in such a family, Ruan Yuan was influenced by his family's learning from an early age and gradually became a renowned talent in both literature and martial arts. At the age of 25, Ruan Yuan passed the imperial examination and entered the officialdom. Ruan Yuan not only held high positions but was also a staunch guardian of Yangzhou's culture. He compiled "Jingji Zanggu" and edited and printed "Thirteen Classics with Commentaries and Sub-commentaries", his cultural achievements shining like stars in Yangzhou's cultural heritage.
Mr. Ruan Yuan dedicated his life to cultural inheritance and academic research. The "Jingji Zanggu" he compiled collected the essence of ancient annotations and interpretations, providing an important basis for later generations to study classics.
