The room was too small, and most importantly, it was far from the description given by Ctrip when I booked. Picture 1 shows the room type picture and description (area 36) on Ctrip when I booked, which made people full of expectations for this room type. But Ctrip was very smart and soon changed the misleading picture of this room type. Fortunately, I took a screenshot. Picture 2 shows the room type I got (the window of the room I actually got was much smaller than this one, the room was very dark, the position of the chair was replaced by a folding bed, and the chair and the lamp were stuffed in the corner). The whole room was densely packed with a 1.5-meter bed + a folding bed + a wardrobe. There was no place to put my feet. The bathroom was so small that I would be hit when I opened the door while sitting on the toilet. It was definitely not more than 30 square meters. And I paid nearly 500 pounds per night for this room type. I can only say that the cost performance is extremely low.
The hotel itself: except for the small room and the poor lighting and ventilation of the old building (which may be a common problem of Edinburgh hotels), everything else is pretty good, the facilities are very new, every staff is very enthusiastic, the public area is very cozy, and the interior decoration is also very stylish; at first I thought the breakfast had few choices and tasted bland, but later I compared it with every hotel I stayed in during the trip (including Rosewood in London), and Kimpton's breakfast was actually pretty good...
Summary: If you don't mind the lighting and ventilation of the room, and can accept this price to live in a small room with a little artistic atmosphere, you can stay there. I don't recommend it for families with children.

Everything was overall very good. The location was exceptional. The rooms were so handy and practical, there was a quite functional and almost fully equipped kitchen and there was even a washing machine. I was planning to have breakfast outside - in a coffee shop or bakery, but i changed my plans to have my breakfast in the room sine the room was like studio and had given me a cosy feeling in the middle of the city center. The only downfall was that instead of keycards, they gave me a pincode (like numeric password) to open the doors and the codes were hand written by receptions and handed to customers just like that. This seemed to me not very safe while it may sound somehow practical to some other people in other ways. Maybe i need to get used to it if this method is going to be applied everywhere in the future, who knows.

Room
Facilities: The layout is very cozy, with dry and wet areas separated and a separate dressing area
Hygiene: Very clean
Environment: The room we were initially assigned was on the top floor with a good view
Service: The service was very good, and we were promptly helped to change rooms when we encountered a problem.
The only regret was that we checked in on a weekend, and foreigners are used to partying on weekends. The pub downstairs was so noisy with speakers and chattering that we couldn't fall asleep. Fortunately, the staff helped us change to a quiet room in the middle of the night. Thank you very much!

The hotel pillows had mold spots when turned over...
The check-in time was 3 o'clock but they said it was not cleaned. I waited for another 40 minutes and asked but it was still not cleaned. In the end, I could only be given a cleaned room but without a view.
No one took the initiative to help with the luggage. I called the front desk three times before it got through...
Although I was later given a new room, the overall experience was still not good.

The price-performance ratio is not bad, but it is a bit old, but the service is top-notch! When those Edinburgh voco hotels are selling for 1700, I will not hesitate to spend 2100 to stay at the Waldorf Astoria. What kind of bicycle do you need for 2100? This is the Waldorf Astoria hahaha

Apartment was very spacious and clean. Our bed was okay although the pillows could be better. We had a great time preparing our dinners here because many cooking tools are provided. There are two washing tablets for our three-night stay so we did have to get our own at a Sainsbury’s nearby since we did have more clothes to wash. The washer worked fine but the dryer somehow didn’t. We tried to use it three times but the clothes were still wet in the end. We had to hang dry our clothes in the closet after spinning them at a higher RPM, which was fine because they got all dry by the next morning. There’s also an app for the hotel that you can download where you can request services from the front desk, which I thought was a nice touch. Staff was generally friendly and the location of the apartment was close to several restaurants and a grocery store, and it’s not too far from the train station. I’d definitely consider staying here if I ever visit Edinburgh again.

AAnonymous UserPros: The location of the hotel is good. This is a big hotel with many rooms. The terrace is super nice.
shortcoming:
1- But my room is separated from the noise of huge equipment, I don't know what it is, it is much more noisy than the refrigerator.
2- The corridors and restaurants don't turn on the heating very much, it's very cold.
3- The bed is relatively soft
4- But there is no parking space for taxis in front
Overall: 4 points
The price-performance ratio of more than 2,000 is not very high, but the level of the entire British hotel is incomparable with that of Asia, and this hotel cannot be blamed.

Very Good
RRosiness’sThe hotel is two small villas facing each other on the street, with a small outdoor garden (drinking, afternoon tea)
There is no front desk, but the service staff is very friendly and provides welcome tea and cookies.
The rooms are generally not big, but the facilities inside are very exquisite. The sunlight shining in in the afternoon is beautiful.
The toiletries are whiskey-scented, very nice and high-end.
The whole building smells delicious
Very good service staff
Disadvantages: 1. There is no elevator, but the building is not high, the highest is only the third floor.
2. The location is average. It takes nearly half an hour to walk from the city center. Taking an Uber costs about 4-5 pounds. The advantage is that there is a bus at the door.
RRoman KalyuzhnyGreat location, very nice building, with wonderfully appointed common areas (esp liked the library). Friendly and attentive service and tasty food (recommend the afternoon tea). The rooms are well decorated, spacious and bright. BUT there is a lot of noise, primarily from internal sources. So insulation really should be improved. Everything is audible from the hallway and the pipes make a lot of noise when shower/bathroom is used in neighbouring rooms. This is not what I would expect from this level of hotel.
