I recently stayed at the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel and, unfortunately, had to request a room change upon arrival. The first room didn’t feel like what you’d expect from a 4-star hotel, especially at nearly £200 per night. It was very basic—no carpet, no robe, and no slippers. The room felt empty, more like a budget option than a premium stay.
We were moved to another room, which did have a carpet, but it was essentially the same situation—still no slippers or robe etc.
That said, there were a few positives: the location is great, the breakfast was really nice, and the pool itself was a good facility.
Overall, I might stay here again, but only if the price reflects the actual experience. At this rate, I expected a bit more attention to detail and comfort.

The city center is only about a 30-minute walk away, and you can easily catch a bus to various tourist attractions. The staff are friendly, and they kindly offered a complimentary late check-out. Overall, I was very satisfied.
