"This was the most satisfying hotel we stayed at in Edinburgh, though it was quite pricey. The bed wasn't huge, but the bathroom was very spacious. The towel drying rack was a lifesaver, allowing us to dry clothes and trousers we'd been wearing for days. Breakfast was very satisfying and plentiful. The staff kindly helped us arrange a taxi when we checked out, ensuring we made it to our train on time. It's less than 1 km from the train station, but with luggage, navigating the steep hills and cobblestone streets was quite a workout. A taxi would definitely be a better option for those with heavy bags. There are plenty of dining options nearby, and the location is generally convenient for exploring the city."

"Overall it was a nice stay but it was a mixed experience. What we loved - The room was lovely, we were really happy with the amenities available in the room. We booked a studio and it came with 2 double beds, good kitchen amenities, large bathroom, washer and dryer and a pretty cool skylight with a black out blind (we were in room 411 on the 4th floor) - Staff were lovely and polite - Location was ideal as it wasn't too far from the station and had plenty of shops, cafes and Christmas activities around. What we didn't like - The room wasn't as clean as we'd hoped. One of the rooms has dust behind the door and the vents for the A/C needed dusting. - There was a little confusion over whether I'd paid, I paid beforehand with Trip.com and it didn't register with them, so they asked for me to pay when checking in, if I hadn't checked I may have needed too. (Also if you're booking, it may be worth going direct as there was a nearly £30 difference between the price I paid through trip.com and what I was 'invoiced' following our stay) - They ran out of shampoo and it had clearly been filled up with water to compensate (not major but if you're paying nearly £200 a night these are the small details I'd expect to be addressed -Finally, this one is for the staff, you have a cool radio in the room in 411 but please check the plug socket as is cuts out and you can hear the electricity buzzing when you plug the socket in. Didn't have any noise issues and I would definitely stay again, though I don't think I'd pay the price I did for it again. (Hotel was charging £158.95, Trip.com charged me £183)"

"The hotel facilities were decent, and the room itself was quite spacious. The front desk staff were very patient; upon check-in, I mentioned my preferred room location, and they patiently discussed it with me. We were on the second floor, though I imagine higher floors would offer better views. There's a large supermarket nearby. The bathroom had a bathtub, but the toilet area felt a bit cramped. The hotel was very clean. The main drawback is that it's a bit far from the city center. A taxi to Princes Street cost us around £8-£10, while a bus fare is a little over £2. For groups, a taxi is more cost-effective. The journey typically takes about 10-20 minutes. Breakfast was a decent English buffet, with options like bacon, scrambled eggs, bread, and juice. They offered both firm and soft pillows, which was a thoughtful touch. After checking out on the second day, we stored our luggage at the Scottish National Gallery. It cost £2 for a locker token, and you could store items until 5 PM. The locker was spacious enough for a 20-inch carry-on suitcase plus a backpack. The gallery is very close to the train station, which was very convenient as it meant we didn't have to return to the hotel to collect our luggage after exploring the city center."

Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh – Leith Waterfront is located on the outskirts of the city, in the cool harbour neighbourhood of Leith, also known as The Shore. Watch live debates and MSPs questions at the Scottish Parliament Building or tour the Palace of Holyroodhouse, The King’s official residence in Edinburgh. Ocean Terminal shopping centre is a short walk away, while Princes Street and St James Quarter offer the best from high-street to luxury fashion and beauty. Multrees Walk is home to the iconic Harvey Nichols. For entertainment, catch a comedy or theatre show at the Edinburgh Playhouse, two miles away. Relax after a busy day in your room with a flat-screen TV and en-suite with shower. Enjoy a free buffet breakfast each morning before heading out for the day. "Location: Very conveniently located right across a couple of bus stops and also a few steps away from Ocean Terminal tram stop. The Oean Terminal has a few well known brand outlets which we did not visit but if you have nothing else to do, it could be a nice way to spend your time. Also the Royal Britannia Yacht is right there. Cleanliness and facilities: just as expected from IHG, very clean and also the facilities that we wanted: luggage storage, a simple bar/ restaurant and hot breakfast. Nothing extraordinary but absolutely essential. Note: scrambled eggs could be better. Service: OK, as expected. We had already sent a note saying we were going to arrive between 1 AM and 1:30 AM, and when we came to the reception around 1:15 AM, they promptly delivered the keys and on the inside of the card was written ”no show”. Which means the reception doing the night shift never saw our note and had already marked us as possible ”no show”. It did not hurt us, but I did not like the fact they never read our note, it shows the impersonal nature of their service. Therefore I deducted one star. Note: The cranberry tea is a nice selection. It helped my headache. Thanks."

"The rooms and bathrooms are clean, and the hotel is close to the train station, making it convenient to go anywhere. The front desk staff was excellent. On our second stay, we felt our room was on a lower floor, and we requested a twin room. She diligently helped us find a new room and ultimately managed to switch us. She even proactively helped us move our luggage to the new room and gave us two complimentary drink vouchers for the bar, which we greatly appreciated. Additionally, there's a Chinese girl at the hotel's front desk who was very helpful. She told us where the supermarket was and the easiest way to get to the train station (just like someone else mentioned, definitely don't follow Google Maps, as it leads you over a big hill; following her directions was very convenient, no big hill climbing needed, you can take an elevator down). We are very grateful to her."

JJay-PeeMy Stay at Point A Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket: Modern Comfort in Scotland's Capital Just returned from a quick overnight at Point A Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket and wanted to share my experience! At £146.13 for the night, it offered a sleek, contemporary stay in one of the UK's most beautiful cities. The location at 152 Morrison Street (EH3 8EB) is absolutely spot-on. Situated in the Haymarket area, it puts you within easy reach of Edinburgh's major attractions while being slightly removed from the tourist crowds. The area has excellent transport links, with Haymarket station nearby, making it perfect for exploring both the historic Old Town and the elegant New Town. I stayed for **one night from Wednesday, July 23 to Thursday, July 24, 2025**. The flexible check-in window (3 PM until midnight) was super convenient for my travel schedule, and the 11 AM check-out gave me enough time to get ready without feeling rushed the next morning. The hotel itself has a modern, minimalist aesthetic (visible in the booking thumbnail), which carried through to my room. Everything was clean, well-designed, and efficiently laid out. Point A is known for their smart, space-saving rooms that focus on quality essentials rather than unnecessary frills – perfect for city explorers who plan to spend most of their time out and about. What I appreciated was the **upfront pricing** – the £146.13 covered everything with no hidden extras. I should note that I opted for a non-refundable rate to get the best price, which was clearly explained during booking. The Trip.com process was straightforward, and their price match and stay guarantee added extra peace of mind. The app's ”Message Property” and ”Call Property” features were handy when I needed to confirm the parking situation nearby. Being able to communicate directly through the app made planning much easier. Is it a sprawling luxury hotel with extensive facilities? No, but that's not what Point A aims to be. It delivers exactly what it promises: a smart, comfortable, well-located base for exploring Edinburgh at a fair price point. **Would I recommend it?** Absolutely! If you're looking for a modern, no-nonsense place to stay in Edinburgh with excellent location and clean, comfortable rooms, Point A Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket is an excellent choice. Perfect for solo travelers, couples, or anyone wanting a quality city break without overspending on accommodation.

MmangosugarThe hotel reception was a Hong Konger, and was absolutely smashing—really friendly and welcoming. When he overheard us chatting in Cantonese, he switched to it straight away, which felt so warm and familiar after decades here in the UK. Honestly, massive kudos to him! 👍 The hotel’s in a fantastic spot, couldn’t ask for better. Our room was a tad small, and being right by the fire door meant it got quite noisy in the mornings with people slamming it open and shut, so a proper rest was a bit tough. Also, there’s no shower curtain in the bathroom, so the floor ends up sopping wet. That said, the hot water was spot on. Cheers! thanks !

YYunduanderizi21A very traditional, elegant, ancient and solemn hotel, the overall feeling is very good! The location is very convenient. After exiting the Waverley train station, you can reach the hotel in less than 5 minutes on foot. The entrance is very eye-catching. It's just a big uphill walk, and it will be a bit strenuous if you push a large piece of luggage. It only takes 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the castle. The hotel lobby is very traditional, and the characteristic bonfire hall seems to have entered Santa Claus's home. The lady at the front desk is very enthusiastic and introduced the various facilities in the room in detail. Because Scotland is still quite cold, I didn't feel it when I turned on the heating in the room to the maximum. In the morning, a traditional English breakfast on the first floor of the hotel is absolutely amazing. There is a western restaurant with candlelight dinner next to the hotel, where you can enjoy a sweet world for two! 😍😍

AAlison J BrownLocation fantastic and service was great.  However, for the price it was extremely disappointing.  Window view onto scaffolding opposite with workmen looking in the next morning.  The room was very cold and despite maintenance coming to look at the AC it never warmed up. Had to get an extra heater later. Breakfast was great but went to the toilet and my breakfast was cleared away so had to start again even though I'd left things on the table.  I wouldn't go again for the price.

HHunnyBhee1. Location, Location, Location • It’s hard to beat this hotel for central Edinburgh. Right on North Bridge, you’re a stone’s throw from Waverley Station, the Royal Mile, shops, restaurants, and many of the city’s major sights. • Great for walking everywhere; you don’t need transport for many of the main attractions. 2. Room Size & Basics • Many guests say the rooms are more spacious than you might expect in a city‑centre hotel. • Clean, with decent bathrooms, functional furniture, and most have good views (though that depends on the side you’re on). 3. Quality of Bed & Sleep Amenities • Beds often get praise for being comfortable (though not universally). TVs, desks, kettles etc. are standard and work well. 4. Restaurant / Lounge / Public Areas • Decent lounge with a good drinks menu, good public areas, attractive décor in common spaces. • The steakhouse (Marco Pierre White) is a draw for many visitors.

FFatima IssaA Wonderful Stay – Highly Recommended! My friend and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this lovely property, and we had an excellent experience. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed with the attention to detail and the warmth of the staff. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring we both got a restful night’s sleep. What truly stood out, however, was the level of service. I was feeling a bit under the weather during our stay, and the staff went above and beyond by bringing breakfast directly to our room, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture. This level of care really goes a long way in making guests feel valued. For those who prefer to enjoy their breakfast with a bit of fresh air, the hotel also has a charming terrace where you can take your meal while soaking in the surroundings. It's the perfect way to start the day if you want to enjoy a bit of sunshine. The location is also a major plus. It’s just a short walk to the city center, making it easy to explore, and for those who prefer not to walk, a quick 5-minute bus ride will take you wherever you need to go. The lounge area at the hotel is another highlight. It’s spacious, cozy, and thoughtfully equipped with blankets to keep guests comfortable if the temperature drops. It provided the perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area. The combination of comfort, thoughtful service, and a prime location makes it a top choice. We will definitely be staying here again when we return!

Ssib-elThe room itself was clean, but the surrounding areas were not as good. The showers on my side were not even there so we had use our neighbors and there was one day in which there was no hot water at all. The one bathroom we had in our area had to light and was smelly most of the time. Again, the room was clean and did not smell, it was also huge so everyone had plenty of room for everything. The staff was super friendly I can’t complain about that and they also had the best washing machines and dryers ever. The location is pretty central but there is no elevator so if you get a room on the 4th floor that’s gonna be rough.
