"The location was perfect, right next to Kyoto Station. The room was new, spacious, and very comfortable. However, service was lacking—check-in/out was via an unfriendly self-service machine, and our request for extra pillows was ignored. We had to collect them ourselves in plastic bags from reception. Great room and location, but service needs improvement."

"From Osaka, you can take the Hankyu Railway to Karasuma Station. It's actually the same station as the Shijo Subway Station, though it's not clearly stated. If you arrive at Kyoto Station, you'll need to transfer to Shijo Station.
Exit Exit 24, which has an elevator, so you don't have to carry your luggage upstairs.
It's about a 10-minute walk from Exit 24.
There's a supermarket downstairs with sales starting at 8 PM. They sell sushi and yakitori.
It's super cheap, and it's always crowded!
The breakfast in the morning is highly recommended. The room was medium-sized, and the triple room, which accommodated three adults and one child, was quite good!
The bus stop is right outside.
The only thing I had to do was take the stairs from the subway the first time I came in. I wasn't familiar with the area, and Kyoto Station was crowded and difficult to get around. It's much easier to just exit Hankyu Karasuma Station."

"This hotel is in a great location. I traveled from Osaka to Kyoto, and this hotel was literally across the street from Kyoto Station, the primary transportation hub for buses and trains. The hotel itself is very nice for the price. The room had every amenity needed and was quite comfortable. The hotel also has its own bathhouse with sauna, which is fantastic. The breakfast buffet had a great selection of dishes, and was reasonably priced."

"Clean and decent hotel in Kyoto. Amenities were provided at lobby for your self-service. There are also 3 laundry machines for you to use (2hours wash and dry 500 yen) - may be crowded during night time & do prepare your coins! If too many clothes, it may not be dry during the 2 hours so additional 30 mins drying for 100yen. Location can be walked to attraction but may take some time, not wise if have elderly and kids. Buses are around the hotel too but we mostly walked. There is also supermarket within walking distance if you want to buy some snacks or drinks! Would recommend for budget yet clean hotel stay!"

"I love how this hotel has personality and that it’s well designed. People said that the room is small, but as a solo traveller, it is a great size! You’ll have fun at this hotel, it’s near the bus station and a train station. It’s close to the famous Inari Shrine, Ninenzaka and between Kyoto Station and the main shopping district. It’s also right by the 7/11"

"Very well located- street with small shops, big mall, restaurant s, close to metro station. Clean and comfortable room. All necessary bath utilities, teapot, coffee, tea, safe, small fridge in the room. Big and comfortable beds. Was a little bit noisy in the room which faces the main road.

The room and bathroom are much larger than the hotel I stayed in Tokyo a few days ago.
The kitchen in the room has pots, bowls and chopsticks, but no seasoning. The bathroom has a full set of toiletries (toner, conditioner, etc.), plenty of hangers, and good soundproofing in the room.
There is a water bar on the first floor, free drinks and coffee, etc., and a terrace on the top floor. There is also a self-service luggage storage rack on the first floor (password lock, unlimited size)
The overall facilities are very new and very complete. I stayed for 3 days and was very satisfied"

LLyndaThis is not a hotel of three stars. It is a HOSTEL. I stayed here after I extended my stay by a night in Kyoto and everything was full - at least those with reasonable prices. It was a single room with shared bathroom. It was a mixed floor with separate toilets for men and women. The showers were only on the 2nd floor. Hotel/sleeping wear was available for free but I changed the first top as it smelt unwashed. I made my own bed after taking the little table off the raised dias and sliding it under the bed so you need to be active!. There is a mirror with a small ledge under it. No rubbish bin as you are asked to take it out of the room to the communal bins on the floor. The whole place is fairly new and very clean, and location is great. There are a couple of vending and laundry machines along with large canisters of hot water and a microwave. Breakfast is two doors down in the cafe which was ok. It is run by Sotetsu chain but should be classed as a hostel not hotel. You can leave luggage early before checkin or after checkout for a few hours. The staff at reception were helpful but it certainly isn’t a hotel. Most hostel’s have a place to prepare your own food not just a microwave. Not value for money IMHO.

PPui SheungThe hotel is located near the Kyoto Station. The room size is larger than many hotels in Japan. The hotel provide free dessert and drinks after lunch hour, some snacks with beer or wine after 6pm. The breakfast is delicious and had lots of choice. During my stay, the hotel provide materials for making a tatami coaster. It is worth to stay in this hotel. I will choose this again when I come back to Kyoto.

Despite being so close to famous temples and shrines, the hotel maintains a tranquil setting that feels worlds away from the bustle of the city.
From check-in onward, I was warmly welcomed by the professional and attentive team. Their devotion to creating a memorable guest experience was evident in every conversation. Whether offering sightseeing suggestions or promptly assisting with any need, they made me feel completely at home.
My room showcased an attractive fusion of modern design and traditional Japanese elements. Soft earth tones, tasteful décor, and well-chosen furnishings created an atmosphere that was both chic and peaceful. The spacious bathtub, in particular, stood out as the perfect place to unwind after wandering Kyoto’s centuries-old streets.
Although I didn’t have a chance to sample the hotel’s dining options, every other aspect of my stay was faultless. The exquisite decor, the serene environment, and the staff’s unparalleled service exceeded all my expectations. If you’re seeking a sophisticated, relaxing retreat that still allows you to easily explore Kyoto’s rich cultural heritage, Saka Hotel Kyoto is an excellent choice.

GGuest UserOur stay at Kyoto Village was delightful and offered a perfect base for exploring Kyoto and the surrounding areas. The hotel was conveniently located within walking distance to major attractions like Nishiki Market and Gion, where we enjoyed strolling through Pontocho Street, sampling yakitori, and soaking up the quintessentially Japanese street atmosphere. The staff were incredibly helpful, providing us with a parking permit for a nearby garage and even assisting with parking, which made the process stress-free.
Our room was comfortable and clean, and we enjoyed a casual meal of sushi we had purchased in Uji earlier in the day. After a long walk and some late-night supermarket shopping, we relaxed in the hotel's onsen—a truly peaceful way to end the evening.
The next day, after a convenient breakfast delivered to our room, we ventured out to Arashiyama and the Bamboo Forest. Despite the crowds, the scenic views and natural beauty were well worth the visit. Later, we headed to Fushimi Inari Taisha, where we managed to catch the last bit of sunlight and explore the shrine in a quieter, more serene atmosphere.
Overall, the location of Kyoto Village, coupled with its proximity to key attractions and the relaxing onsen, made this stay a great experience. We highly recommend it for anyone looking to explore Kyoto in comfort and style.

Jjan96The best hotel I’ve stayed at in Japan! It’s even better than another 4-star hotel I stayed at in Tokyo. Interactions with the staff were minimal, so I have no comments on that. However, the room and bathroom were exceptionally clean and spotless. I loved that the bathroom was larger than the usual hotel bathrooms, and the shower was separate from the bathtub as well.
The hotel offers great amenities, including a laundry machine, vending machines. There were also complimentary toiletries and drinks offered in the lobby.
While the location is a bit far from the main tourist attractions, there’s a convenient loop bus from Kanazawa Station that stops at various tourist spots, so getting around was still easy. There are also plenty of good restaurants nearby, along with a large shopping mall. The hotel is about a 5-minute walk from Kanazawa Station via the side exit near the dorayaki shop, which was very convenient. Plus, having a 7-Eleven directly connected to the hotel on the first floor was a huge plus!
The only downside was the buffet breakfast — while the selection was large, with both Italian and Japanese options, the taste was pretty average. I’d recommend skipping it since there are many nearby restaurants and a 7-Eleven. Another small thing was that the double bed came with only one pillow, whereas all the other hotels I stayed at provided at least two.
Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers!

MM-B4il3yThe hotel was really great overall. The location was fantastic, nearby to lots of eateries and walking distance to the main attractions like Nishiki market. Theres a microwave, ice, water refill and tea / coffee complimentary. Shower is really powerful with massage function, probably the best we’ve been in whilst travelling. Rooms are cleaned, bins emptied and towels replaced daily. Aircon was powerful. Friendly staff.
The only things to complain about (but don’t let this put you off as it’s more feedback for the hotel) were:
1. The pillows on the bed. They were unbelievably uncomfortable and completely flat, they didn’t even fit the size of the bed. This made our quality of sleep poor. We didn’t check, but it might be worth asking reception for extra pillows for your stay.
2. You’re asked not to open windows due to the climate and bugs, therefore the rooms get a bit of a damp smell to them throughout the day. You get used to it, and there are air fresheners, but just something to note.
3. The carpets throughout the hotel and in the rooms were heavily stained - overall the hotel is very clean but you will probably notice this when you stay.
Side note: I recommend ‘Totaro’ for matcha latte, it has been the best during my Japan trip! About 15 mins walk from the hotel.

This is the cheapest double bed homestay I can find in Kyoto for a family of four with two children. The photos don't look high-end, but in fact the facilities are very advanced, clean and tidy. I really suggest that the landlord take new photos. The hot water for bathing and cooking in the kitchen are very good. There are two stations nearby, and it is negligible to walk out, which is very convenient to go to Nara Uji. In addition to the convenience store, there is a life supermarket after a while, where you can buy some good ingredients to cook at the homestay. There is a double bed and a bunk bed. The suitcase is open under the bed and there is enough space for activities.
The disadvantage is that there is no washbasin, and the kitchen sink is used for washing face, brushing teeth and washing hands, and the dining chair is a bit makeshift

DDmitry NateWe stayed at this guest house in early March. We were delighted! The guest house is located near the bus stop, you can walk and enjoy the views of the village. There is also a transfer. The dinner was simply gorgeous, delicious miso, a large selection of vegetables and broths. Breakfast was also good, although not so varied. Very beautiful garden. The guest house itself is in a traditional style 😍 the owner gave us instructions and a tour, was very polite and friendly. The guest house has some rules, for example, keeping quiet, which creates an atmosphere of complete relaxation. The room itself is clean, the bed linen is fresh, there are instructions on how to lay out the futon. We were given yukatas and warm sweaters, towels and accessories for washing and brushing teeth. There are hair dryers too. There are two onsen, male and female, they alternate to visit each. When we were there, the onsen opened on schedule, but there is enough time to stay. The barrel with hot water is simply gorgeous, in the open air, around the forest. It is forbidden to take photos and videos on the onsen territory. Sorry for breaking the rules, but I wanted to capture this beauty at a time when no one was there. The only thing I missed was some kind of bench next to the onsen in the open air so that you could cool off and sit in the hot water again. But this is probably a purely Russian habit.

VVictorWas recommended to this by a friend. The room is really spacious. The living room comes with a sofa and a smart TV that you can screencast if you know how. There is a clothes rack and my room is next to the laundry room. Yes, you can do your washing and drying there. I did that on my third day there. There is also a balcony where you can hang your clothes out to dry. The access is secured by a reinforced glass slider, while the balcony is also secured by grills, giving one a good sense of security. The toilet comes with a tub, and a ventilator to prevent mould and mildew. There is a mini kitchen with a fridge, microwave, electric kettle and an induction top. There are bowls and pots too for light cooking if you like. Lets not forget, that they also provide umbrellas for guests use too! The amenities provided meets my needs.
The location is not exactly the best however. Quite a bit of walking is required from Kyoto station, and/or from the bus stop from Kyoto Aquarium. But there are a few vending machines in the immediate vicinity and a mini stop convenience store just over at the Kyoto Aquarium there. But still acceptable given the room size and amenities.
Overall a pleasant stay.
