Hotel Torifito Otaru Canal
"Spotlessly clean, quiet, and the pillows were super comfy. The hot spring bath was pristine, and the laundry service was really convenient. The front desk staff, especially the guy who checked me in, was incredibly warm and helpful. Five stars! The location is fantastic too, just a few minutes' walk to the Otaru Canal. Highly recommend!"
Granbell Hotel Otaru
"Enjoyed an overnight stay in this clean, modern hotel in a comfortable superior double room with queen bed. It is well located within walking distance to the principal city tourist attractions such as Otaru Canal, the steam clock and the Sakaimachi shopping street. Attractive and clean public bath on the upper floor with outdoor area. Recommended."
Nishikien inn
"March 20, 2026 The hotel is about a 22-minute walk from Otaru Bus Station. The furthest I walked was to the vicinity of the Music Box Museum, which took about half an hour. I walked everywhere to save on transportation costs, and I felt it was a pretty ideal distance. On my first day, after checking out from my previous hotel in Sapporo, I arrived around 1:30 PM local time. The day before, the Trip.com app concierge contacted the Chinese owner, who said I could check in early for free. So, upon arrival, I just entered the main door password, went inside, and used the iPad on the table to scan my passport photo for check-in. It was incredibly smooth. I was so tired that I slept until dark. The property is a detached house (a 'one-family build' villa) with two floors. Each room accommodates independent guests. Only my room (104) and another room on the first floor do not have private toilets or bathrooms; all other rooms have en-suite facilities. So, I only needed to coordinate my bathroom and shower times with one other guest. There are two public showers and one public toilet. During my stay, the other guest and I were very considerate when using the facilities, and it didn't affect our usage at all, which was great. Room 104 is the first room upon entering, which was very convenient for my oversized luggage. The private room itself was also very spacious. On the table were bath towels, hand towels, and a one-piece pajama. I slept very well. The value for money is super high, and I'm extremely satisfied."

"Very nice hotel with good view and good facilities. The meals included are also very nice."
Guesthouse Otaru Wanokaze
"This hotel is indeed cheap for Otaru and relatively clean, but it really is just a hotel! The rooms are rather basic, and I guess the owner is trying to save costs by using an oil heater instead of air conditioning, so there was a smell. I opened the window occasionally, and ended up catching a cold and getting a fever. I probably won't choose this hotel again next time."
Tabist Kaihourou Otaru
"This hotel, with its historic building and stunning snowy views, was absolutely wonderful. I was surprised by how affordable it was, especially considering our room had a living room and there was a large public bath. The breakfast area felt like a retro foreign mansion, and the food was delicious too."

"Last minute booking due to transportation delays during heavy rain. Check-in/reception counter is in different place from the actual accommodation but a driver will drop-off and pick-up during stay and check out. It is a comfortable stay, place is neat and place is bigger than normal BnB or rentals."

Otaru Asarigawa Onsen Hotel Musashitei
"This time I came to Otaru, I stayed in this hotel for two nights and was very satisfied! The service attitude of the hotel front desk and staff was really very good, and the stay experience was great! There are hot springs in the hotel, and breakfast and dinner are also very rich. Dinner is in a separate small Japanese-style room with great privacy! In terms of travel, there is a bus stop at the door, and it is very convenient to take the bus to the city. In addition, the hotel also has a free shuttle bus to the bus stop in the city at 9:30 in the morning. In short, it was a very satisfactory stay! I would like to praise the service attitude again, which is really great~ I had a very happy two days!"
