"This guesthouse seems to be run by Chinese owners, which is nice. My room was right by the entrance. After checking in at the front desk, I couldn't find it until I turned around... it felt a bit like sleeping in a guardhouse. The soundproofing isn't great either. Because of its peculiar location, it gets very noisy in the mornings. And the room next door seems to be a staff office, which also generates a lot of noise. However, the room was warm and clean, perfect for a night's sleep, and the price was excellent. The only downside is that it didn't have a private bathroom. The common areas were clean and there was even coffee available, which was a pleasant touch."

"I contacted the store manager Richard by email when I booked the room. We arrived in Otaru after 4:30 pm. With Richard's remote guidance, we adjusted our itinerary, gained time, visited Tengu Mountain efficiently and satisfactorily, and took the last bus to the B&B. At that time, I had already had a good impression of Shukujin Villa before I checked in. After arriving, the room was clean and tidy, the tatami mattress was soft and comfortable, and the living room was bright and spacious, which allowed us to have a comfortable space to chat and drink tea. This made me fully realize how good it is to travel with multiple people and rent a villa! Moreover, each bedroom is equipped with an independent bathroom, which is very rare and an important consideration for me to compare prices when booking a room. It is especially important for our family with children. If I go to Otaru again, this will be the only choice for me and my friends."

"An impeccable hotel. The rooms were clean and well-equipped. The water heater was a Rinnai, so the hot water was plentiful and hot. The only downsides were that the TV wasn't a smart TV, so no YouTube, and there were limited laundry facilities – only two washing machines in the lobby. The location is absolutely superb, right next to Otaru Station, with the Sankaku Market just downstairs. A block to the west, there's a 7-Eleven and a Toyota car rental. A block to the right, there's a building with shops, a large supermarket, and a Don Quijote. The canal is a short walk north from the hotel. Even walking to Gaja for all-you-can-eat beef only took 15 minutes."

"Their Wi-Fi worked for maybe 5 minutes, and was extremely slow. I had to buy data from my phone and hotspot it to work, costing me much more money. I was so frustrated because this is so basic and they couldn't get that right. The workers were great but I'm still never coming back."

"The B&B's location is pretty good and convenient, with a convenience store right outside. The interior is beautiful and thoughtfully detailed. The front desk service was just okay, nothing special. The room itself was clean and tidy, but when we turned on the heater, there was a strong, persistent kerosene smell that was really unpleasant."

"Room in dorm spacious. We have place for suitcase, and we can move freely in the room. Big sharing bathroom. Clean and well located. 10min from the train station. Very convenient and easy to self check in after 7pm. inconvenient: smell of food in the room, miss a small shelf: I'm not used to sleep under my phone(...-_-) and the light of the bed, is really low. We can't even read. But I will recommend it."

"If you are not driving, this place is a best place to stay with as overall house amenities are comfortable, modern and feeling good. But for anyone driving there, do consider again as the journey towards to the carpark are slippery, more than 10degree slope, it is dangerous and scarry to me eventhough equipped with snow tyre even though for myself that have been driving in many countries in Europe, Asia and Australia."
