Anonymous UserI had a great stay at this property. The owner is very kind and picked me up from the train station and dropped me off at the airport.
Location-wise, this property is less than 1km away from the Grotto entrance.
The owner also introduced me to a taxi driver who changed a fixed price to the Crescent Moon Spring and Dunhuang night market. Also pick-up from these places.
Room-wise, very clean. No odor from the downpipes. Water pressure from the faucets is strong. The bed is comfortable.
Breakfast is Northern Chinese - Steamed bun, hard-boiled egg, millet porridge, julienned potatoes.
This place is highly recommended.

I've always wanted to experience desert tenting, and after careful consideration, I chose Windy. The location is perfect, with sand dunes just outside. The tents are in excellent condition, and the ensuite bathrooms have plenty of hot and cold water. The service was excellent, with prompt responses from the housekeepers, and the staff in the restaurant and activities were also very helpful and welcoming. Camel rides and ATV pickups are available right outside the room, which was a big plus. We were finally taken back to the city in a Mercedes-Benz van!

I'm very satisfied with the room setup at Dongyi Hotel; it was a comfortable stay. The location is convenient for getting around, not far from Mogao Grottoes and Mingsha Mountain. The butler service was excellent, and the restaurant offers a great selection of local specialties. I'll definitely be returning.

Lx MrskLovely place with central Asian vibe of Gobi desert in the room interior. Quite welcoming, generous and careful employees of Hotel. Breakfast in winter is served on tray without choice but seems you can have buffet at summer. Spacious newly build hotel with good ambiance.

Guest UserThe service was excellent, and the bar staff and all the other service attendants were incredibly warm and welcoming. The room was spacious and clean. The location is fantastic; it's just a 5 RMB bus ride to the Mogao Grottoes, and it's convenient for getting everywhere. The food street is right downstairs. They even picked me up from the train station. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit.

There were a lot of people in the hotel lobby on the night of check-in. The front desk said that they had received a study tour group of 500 people, which delayed the check-in time. To express their apology, the front desk gave me some souvenirs and promised to take me to the night market in the evening. They were really sincere and I could see that the service awareness came from the heart and was not forced through training.

Guest UserMy positive impression of this hotel started with the complimentary airport pick-up service, and after having dinner here, I decided to give it a glowing review on the platform.
Regarding the pick-up: Master Liang was very friendly and punctual. The car was exceptionally clean, and perhaps because it was the off-season, it was just our family of three. He patiently answered all our strange questions about Dunhuang on the way from the airport to the hotel and even recommended many restaurants (though we didn't end up trying any).
Regarding the accommodation: Xiao Gao, Xiao Shi, and Xiao Qin at the front desk were incredibly helpful. The tatami in our room offered direct views of the Dang River, which was a huge bonus for the room. The only slight oddity was that the shower gel and shampoo were placed on the vanity, not directly in the shower stall.
Regarding the food: The breakfast on the second floor was very ordinary, but the restaurant on the first floor offered incredible value for money! For our family, the dinner we had at the Hexi Corridor Hotel restaurant was the most satisfying meal of our entire Northwest trip!!! Although the price per dish was a few yuan more expensive than restaurants outside, the portion sizes and flavors made every penny worth it. I highly recommend the fried eggs with sand onion and the stir-fried lamb with scallions. The aunties working as servers in the restaurant were all very professional. I recommend that independent travelers staying at the hotel, who are tired from sightseeing, can just come back to the hotel and eat directly. Our family only found out on the second day that the hotel restaurant served dinner, and we regret not knowing sooner – if we had known, we would have eaten at the hotel for two consecutive days! 🤤
Oh, and the ginseng fruit sold at the small supermarket next to the hotel is delicious… don't miss it, everyone…

I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of May, and it was a great experience. The location is amazing — feels like you’re in the middle of the desert—which gave me a peaceful break from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The room I stayed in was absolutely beautiful and very cozy. The hotel owner and staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. They assisted me with various inquiries and even helped me take some great photos, which I really appreciated.
The on-site activities were a highlight of my stay. I got to try camel riding, sand sliding, and even riding a motorcycle through the dunes. These were all new experiences for me, and I had so much fun.
Overall, I had a great time and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique and relaxing desert getaway. The only downside was that the hotel posted photos of me on their WeChat account without asking for my permission first. I didn’t feel comfortable with that, and I hope they’ll consider asking their guests before sharing any images in the future.

The last stop of Zhejiang's self-driving Northwest Great Ring Road, a very pleasant stay, convenient parking, clean and hygienic. It’s also convenient to walk to the middle gate of Mingsha Mountain. There are many special delicacies downstairs, and my wife and daughter were also very satisfied with the flying photos taken in the ”Nayu Flower Room” downstairs of the B&B. Bargaining cantaloupes on the roadside for four for ten yuan, super sweet!

If life is a never-ending journey, then the camping trip at the Desert Star Hotel is undoubtedly a highlight of my journey.
When I arrived at the campsite, the first thing that attracted me was the unique tent house. Unlike regular tents, the top of the tent is made of special transparent materials, like a huge viewing platform, which builds a bridge of communication between me and the vast galaxy. As night fell, I couldn't wait to lie on the soft bed, and when I looked up, the bright starry sky was presented to me without reservation. The stars twinkled, like gems inlaid on the black sky, beautiful as a dream. At that moment, the world seemed to press the mute button, and the impetuousness and noise in my heart were instantly soothed. The unique beauty of this quietness made me intoxicated.
It is worth mentioning that the hotel staff is very considerate. After placing the order, the customer service guy at the front desk added our contact information and gave us some local travel tips, which saved us a lot of time. From the warm reception at check-in, to the careful guidance during the activities, to the warm greetings at night, every detail made people feel cared for. They not only provided me with thoughtful service, but also made me feel the simplicity and enthusiasm of the desert people.
This desert camping trip not only allowed me to appreciate the magnificent scenery of the desert, but also experienced exciting and interesting activities, which became an eternal and beautiful memory in my heart.
