This stay far exceeded my expectations! The overall environment was clean and quiet, with excellent natural light and views, and the room was spotless. All necessary amenities were provided, so there was no need to buy anything extra. The smart home design was a pleasant surprise; I could control all the devices with just my voice, which was incredibly high-tech and made my stay relaxing and comfortable. The owner was exceptionally kind, warm, and attentive, always available whenever I needed help – truly thoughtful and reliable.

Great atmosphere. The tent/bedding was much cleaner than expected despite being in the middle of desert . The heater works well. The owner took his time to take great care of us (noted that we didn’t go during high-season); very service-minded. He took us to/from airports and different tourist spots. Also provided us with many additional activities (not excluded in the initial program of camel riding) such as ATV riding, sand hill sliding, firework. The hotpot/grill dinner was delicious! I absolutely loved the hotel's 'wild luxury' aesthetic – it's simple yet grand, with a unique and pleasant aroma. 3. The hotel's travel photography service is outstanding! I got the best set of photos I've ever had. Both the makeup artist and photographer were incredibly professional. I was instantly thrilled with the retouched photos just 5 minutes after the shoot, and even more delighted to learn they'd spend another three days on meticulous post-processing. The terrace above the lobby offers a fantastic photo op, especially with the red canopy against the desert backdrop – it's truly magnificent and a unique scene. 4. Given how dry Dunhuang is, the hotel thoughtfully provided complimentary face masks and lotion. 5. They also offered a free transfer to my next hotel.

The whole room was filled with the fresh scent of pine. I woke up to birdsong every morning, and opening the window revealed endless wheat fields and snow-capped mountains in the distance. The room was clean and odor-free, with excellent heating perfect for the chilly mountain weather. The 24-hour hot water was a real comfort. The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming, even accommodating my late-night arrival with patience. Their homemade breakfast was delicious and well-balanced, featuring local ingredients like free-range chicken and wild vegetables. You can enjoy the sunset and stargazing right from the courtyard, saving you the hassle of driving to scenic spots. This place offers incredible value for money and I highly recommend it, especially for those on a road trip or photography enthusiasts.

Staying at this place in Dunhuang was such a pleasant surprise! First off, the overall environment is incredibly clean, and the style is unique. The room amenities are comprehensive, with thoughtful touches like eye masks and earplugs. The smart home controls throughout the room were a huge plus for someone as lazy as me! And I was thrilled to find that the toiletries were Diptyque, a brand I actually use myself – it instantly made me feel right at home and relaxed. We also got to experience making fun mud slab paintings at the guesthouse, which was a fantastic hands-on activity that made our leisure time incredibly fulfilling. Lastly, a big shout-out to the staff; they were attentive and enthusiastic without being intrusive, always providing just the right amount of care. The breakfast and afternoon tea were also very generous; my friend and I couldn't even finish it all! The entire stay was relaxing and enjoyable. If our itinerary hadn't been so tight, I honestly would have loved to stay a few more nights.

I highly recommend this hotel to those who drive to Dunhuang with their kids. It has a bathtub, which the kids love very much. The room facilities are very complete, the environment is very good, and it is not far from the attractions. Every service staff is very enthusiastic, especially the lobby manager. Yogurt is given when you check in, and plush toys are given when you check out. The kids like it very much and said they will stay here again next time. Highly recommended. Very cost-effective.

I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of May, and it was a great experience. The location is amazing — feels like you’re in the middle of the desert—which gave me a peaceful break from the hustle and bustle of city life.  The room I stayed in was absolutely beautiful and very cozy. The hotel owner and staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. They assisted me with various inquiries and even helped me take some great photos, which I really appreciated. The on-site activities were a highlight of my stay. I got to try camel riding, sand sliding, and even riding a motorcycle through the dunes. These were all new experiences for me, and I had so much fun. Overall, I had a great time and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a unique and relaxing desert getaway. The only downside was that the hotel posted photos of me on their WeChat account without asking for my permission first. I didn’t feel comfortable with that, and I hope they’ll consider asking their guests before sharing any images in the future.

There is no elevator, so you have to carry your own luggage when you check out. The Wi-Fi in the room is sometimes good and sometimes bad. The room is relatively small. The location is mainly close to the scenic area, and the surrounding environment is relatively desolate. The most important thing is that the cleaning is not done seriously, the beds are not made, and the garbage at the bedside is not thrown away. Fortunately, there is air conditioning.

The hotel is located outside the city of Dunhuang, in fact, I never visited the city. But it's close to the train station and to the Mogao Caves Visitor Center, which is the reason most people come to Dunhuang. The staff does not speak English but will try to help you as much as possible, with a cell phone translator. The room was very big, I would say it was the biggest so far, very comfortable, with a view of an agricultural field. At night, if the sky is clear, you can watch the stars since there is no light pollution. The nearest restaurant was about 600 m away, and they had to call the cook to come from home when I got there. After that I decided to dine on instant noodles. The hotel staff invited me to eat dinner with their family. I noticed that later in the evening a bus full of tourist arrived to the hotel. Apparently that's who they cater for. Since I did not get up early, the breakfast was basically finished and cold.

If life is a never-ending journey, then the camping trip at the Desert Star Hotel is undoubtedly a highlight of my journey. When I arrived at the campsite, the first thing that attracted me was the unique tent house. Unlike regular tents, the top of the tent is made of special transparent materials, like a huge viewing platform, which builds a bridge of communication between me and the vast galaxy. As night fell, I couldn't wait to lie on the soft bed, and when I looked up, the bright starry sky was presented to me without reservation. The stars twinkled, like gems inlaid on the black sky, beautiful as a dream. At that moment, the world seemed to press the mute button, and the impetuousness and noise in my heart were instantly soothed. The unique beauty of this quietness made me intoxicated. It is worth mentioning that the hotel staff is very considerate. After placing the order, the customer service guy at the front desk added our contact information and gave us some local travel tips, which saved us a lot of time. From the warm reception at check-in, to the careful guidance during the activities, to the warm greetings at night, every detail made people feel cared for. They not only provided me with thoughtful service, but also made me feel the simplicity and enthusiasm of the desert people. This desert camping trip not only allowed me to appreciate the magnificent scenery of the desert, but also experienced exciting and interesting activities, which became an eternal and beautiful memory in my heart.
