My five-day visit was nothing short of perfection, from the moment I arrived until my warm departure. As a female solo traveler from abroad, safety and welcome are my top priorities, and this family went above and beyond to make me feel like part of their home. My journey began with a incredibly gracious complimentary pick-up from Dunhuang airport, which immediately eased any travel fatigue. The hospitality only blossomed from there. The host family provided me with such genuine individual attention, offering personalized advice for visiting the breathtaking Crescent Moon Lake and the awe-inspiring Mogao Grottoes. Their tips were invaluable and helped me experience these wonders to the fullest. Now, the food! Each meal was a delight—authentic, home-cooked, and prepared fresh with so much care. It was truly delicious and gave me a real taste of local cuisine. My room was a haven of comfort and cleanliness, kept absolutely spotless throughout my stay. A wonderful daily touch was the replenishment of complimentary beverages: refreshing peach tea, pure water, and delicious coconut water—perfect after a day of exploring the desert. The most touching moment came upon my departure when the hosts presented me with exquisite souvenirs from the Mogao Grottoes. It was a gesture of such kindness and generosity that I will forever cherish. GGuest UserAn excellent Chinese-style hotel with superb value for money! The facilities are great, and the soundproofing is also good. The bathroom has a wet/dry separation, and there are even electric scooters and charging stations outside the entrance. The room's cleanliness is impeccable, absolutely spotless and tidy, and the toiletries are comprehensive. The public areas are also neat and organized. My entire experience was perfect, and I genuinely recommend it to everyone.

GGuest UserI've always wanted to experience desert tenting, and after careful consideration, I chose Windy. The location is perfect, with sand dunes just outside. The tents are in excellent condition, and the ensuite bathrooms have plenty of hot and cold water. The service was excellent, with prompt responses from the housekeepers, and the staff in the restaurant and activities were also very helpful and welcoming. Camel rides and ATV pickups are available right outside the room, which was a big plus. We were finally taken back to the city in a Mercedes-Benz van!

DDaofeng006During the May Day holiday, we traveled to Dunhuang. The hotel was very unique, located in the desert, with a typical Northwest and Xinjiang folk house style, yet it exuded a sense of elegance. The room facilities were complete, and the service was thoughtful. There were a few things that pleasantly surprised me: first, they proactively provided and covered the bathtub with a liner; second, they offered a complimentary laundry service once; and although breakfast officially ended at 10:30 AM, they were considerate of late sleepers and still provided a rich breakfast spread even after the cut-off time. While the breakfast options were limited, they were exquisite and distinctive, leaving us very satisfied. The hotel's travel photography service is highly recommended; the results were excellent – it would be a shame to miss it! Overall, Dunhuang is a very worthwhile travel destination. We spent four nights and three full days, which was quite leisurely. On the first day, we visited Yumenguan Pass and Yadan National Geological Park. We set off around noon and these two spots were conveniently located in the same direction. At Yumenguan Pass, we only explored the Small Square City and didn't go further. Then we headed to Yadan. I recommend chartering a car for the tour, as it offers much more freedom. Otherwise, taking a taxi means a two-hour journey each way. A private car allows you to see some hidden gems and control your time, as most of the scenery is somewhat similar, and too much can lead to aesthetic fatigue. On the second day, we went to the Mogao Grottoes. Remember to book tickets in advance; ours was for 3 PM. First, you watch a film at the digital center, then take their provided transport to the grottoes. Each group is assigned a guide who explains everything during the tour. This model is excellent as it protects the cultural relics while allowing you to appreciate their essence. I recommend it to those visiting Xi'an's Terracotta Army, so you don't just see a sea of tourists' heads. On the last day, after 4 PM, we went to Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring. The sun wasn't as intense then, and you can buy tickets at the entrance anytime. The scenery was magnificent, and Crescent Spring was beautiful; I was surprised at how well it's preserved. We skipped the evening's large chorus as we weren't young enough for that. In general, Dunhuang is indeed a great place to visit, and it's well worth coming here. Don't worry about the service; the local government is very dedicated. Lastly, Dunhuang Night Market, also known as Shazhou Night Market, is worth a try for its flavors and atmosphere.

Environment: It has a very distinctive design, the kind where you can take great photos and get amazing shots. Service: Excellent. Upon check-in, we were directly escorted to our room. Then, they enthusiastically informed us of all the important details and even asked if we wanted afternoon tea, which they offer. Even after checking out, while waiting in the lobby, they still provided tea. Truly wonderful. Minibar: Complimentary local specialty tea. A very thoughtful touch.

GGuest UserThe room was great, clean and tidy, with a window, smart assistant (XiaoDu), and a mini-fridge. The location is also excellent, right across from the City Hall. To the left, it's close to the Dunhuang Planning Bureau, and to the right, just across the street, is the Dunhuang Bookstore, both of which are popular spots. It's also very close to Shazhou Night Market, easily walkable, and the night views are lovely. It's also near Dunhuang Wujie and Dunhuang Yinju, and the Dunhuang Museum is nearby too.

AAnonymous UserThere were a lot of people in the hotel lobby on the night of check-in. The front desk said that they had received a study tour group of 500 people, which delayed the check-in time. To express their apology, the front desk gave me some souvenirs and promised to take me to the night market in the evening. They were really sincere and I could see that the service awareness came from the heart and was not forced through training.

Its location on Mingshan Road is fantastic, just a few minutes' walk to Shazhou Night Market, making it incredibly convenient for dining, drinking, and exploring. Opened in 2024, the decor is simple yet grand, with a touch of the Silk Road, and the public areas are great for photos. The room was clean and bright, the bedding soft, and the humidifier was a thoughtful touch, making even the dry Northwest weather comfortable. The front desk staff were warm and professional, and they offer free shuttle service, parking, laundry room, and a gym. Overall, a perfect experience – I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit to Dunhuang!
