Dunhuang Homestays

For our first night in Dunhuang, we definitely opted for a desert stay (Dunhuang Shazhou Wild Luxury Camp Hotel). For the second night, however, we needed something a little less rugged. Staying in the desert means sand everywhere, constantly – on your head, on your face, even packed into your ears! But the kids absolutely loved playing in the sand; they could spend the entire day there, even under the blazing sun. Be sure to apply plenty of sun protection; the desert sun is incredibly intense. Guesthouses are better than regular star hotels because star hotels have high foot traffic, and it's important to be mindful of protection against common illnesses like flu and respiratory infections. So, we completely skipped the Huaxia, Guoji, Tianhe, and Shazhou hotels in the city center. If your budget is tight, the Mumei Kachi Desert Camping Base is also a viable option, though it's not actually at Mingsha Mountain. If you're staying a third day in Dunhuang, you might consider some of the larger, standard hotels in the city center that have swimming pools. Also, the Sheraton in the city center is a stripped-down Four Points by Sheraton, and it doesn't have a pool.

To get to the B&B, you need to go through a 20-meter path, which is wide enough for vehicles to enter, or park in the very wide parking area outside; 3. The house was recently built with new facilities, a comfortable green courtyard, and a stand-alone restaurant (equipped with a fireplace, piano and air purifier, and each table is equipped with a charging port). There is an outdoor picnic area outside the restaurant. If you need to work overtime during the trip, the environment is comfortable; 4. The overall decoration style is pleasant. The hall is over 300 square meters and is filled with various Dunhuang-related books, including many professional books. Dunhuang enthusiasts can use it as a library. There is also a tea room and cultural and creative experience area, which are recommended to experience.

Next to the B&B is another family's livestock pen, and the smell is relatively strong. Fortunately, you can't smell it when you close the door and window in the room, but there is a strong smell of second-hand smoke when the air conditioner in the room is turned on. The low temperature outdoors at night is really not suitable for opening the window for ventilation, which is a dilemma.

We have high quality requirements for the hotel. This homestay is really two nights in the Qinggan ring line. We completely relaxed and rested. On the first day, we arrived at the hotel at 9 o'clock. The front desk was very fast. We upgraded the room type and saved us time to go to Xiashazhou Night. The city couldn't get a taxi because of the tourist season. I arranged a car to pick us up. I also talked very happily on the way back. The driver's little brother was very handsome. He came back and prepared dried fruit tea for us. He also helped us wash the clothes. The depth and depth of the class were particularly intimate. The room was large and clean. The room layout and The washing utensils can be seen from the boss's intentions and taste. The breakfast is very rich. There are kittens near the restaurant that customers bring back. If you have the opportunity to come back later, you will choose here. One of the 3 B&Bs that I was very satisfied with during the Dunhuang and Qinghai Lake Tour in Northern Xinjiang. When visiting Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Moon Spring, you must stay at the entrance of the scenic spot. In the evening, wait for the stars in the night sky on Mingsha Mountain. The Crescent Moon Spring at the foot of the mountain will light up its outline lights, and the ”Starry Sky Concert” is definitely worth looking forward to! The host's passionate recommendations, the familiar old songs that the public loves, the flashlights of mobile phones all over Mingsha Mountain, just like the starry sky, and the echoes of songs from the mountains and the mountains. I lamented that Dunhuang tourism is really the best! Only by staying at the entrance of the scenic spot can you leisurely enjoy all of Mingsha Mountain Crescent Spring. You can enter the scenic spot again the next morning. If you are not afraid of being tired, you can go in earlier (the scenic spot can be entered at 6 o'clock) and pass by paving on the sand. Take the wooden stairs on the mountain (it’s not tiring to climb up) and then climb up Mingsha Mountain to experience the sunrise in the desert.

## A Warm Home on the Northwest Mini-Circuit We took our three children on a trip along the Northwest Mini-Circuit from Xining to Dunhuang, stopping and wandering along the way. We visited countless scenic spots and stayed in numerous B&Bs, but it was here that we found the warmest haven of our journey. The moment we opened the door, we were captivated by the meticulously designed decor. Every detail showed the owner's thoughtful attention, even the vase in the corner was perfectly placed. The children cheered and ran towards the unexpected surprise: a small, clear swimming pool. In the dry northwest air, this pool of turquoise water became their favorite splashing spot. The aroma wafting from the small bar always tempted us to stop. The richness of the freshly ground coffee and the refreshing sparkling water spoke volumes about the uniqueness of this place. But the most surprising thing was the delicious dishes that left a lasting impression. The tender and juicy hand-pulled lamb, the fragrant wok-fried lamb with scallions, and the crisp and delicious cold-mixed shallots—each dish whetted the children's appetites, and two bowls of rice per person became the norm. In the morning, the aroma of wontons and dumplings awakened our taste buds. Watching the children devour two plates of breakfast, we felt both relieved and a little embarrassed. As night fell, the thoughtfully prepared desserts warmed our hearts. This is the first place, thanks to this B&B, that made me want to return. It's more than just a place to rest; it's one of the most precious little pleasures on the Northwest Loop.
