Best Kobe Hotels

"Had my first night stay here at Sannomiya Kobe, took an airport limo bus to Sannomiya station and it was just a 10min stroll to the hotel, my previous japan experience was from AirBNB, but this hotel stay at Sotetsu Sannomiya changed my perception! Although I stayed for only 1 night in there, I managed to explore nearby places and even tried Kobe Beef for the first time ever! Hotel is super clean, you can refill the toiletries as and when needed, they are just right at level 1. Check in was seemless, check out as well! There is also a laundry service, microwave and vending machine at level 2. Bedding and cleaniness is top notch! Will highly recommend this hotel to many other travellers!"

"The hotel is nestled in Meriken Park, offering truly stunning views; the hotel itself is a scenic spot. The room size and facilities met expectations. I had researched beforehand and booked an East-facing room. I made a mistake when booking and ended up with a non-refundable special offer room, which was slightly smaller. However, the bed faced the balcony, so if you're an early riser, you can actually catch the sunrise from this room. The only downside is that the hotel might have been open for a while and hasn't been maintained very well. The cleanliness wasn't ideal, especially for Japan. There was a lot of dust on the ceiling directly above the air conditioning vent, which looked a bit messy. I hope the hotel pays more attention to these details. I had read in guides that it's best to take the shuttle bus or a taxi to the hotel because it's uphill and inconvenient with luggage. However, there's an escalator to the left of the hotel, which is perfectly fine for carrying suitcases. Just be aware that it stops operating after a certain time at night, so keep that in mind when checking in. Due to a flight delay, we were supposed to arrive at 4 PM, but it got pushed to the evening. We landed quickly, took the airport bus to Sannomiya, and easily found the hotel shuttle pick-up point. We were lucky to catch the 10:30 PM hotel shuttle. Upon arrival, we also bought some food and drinks at the convenience store on the first floor of the hotel lobby. This is the only convenience store in the vicinity, and it closes at 11 PM. Overall, the highlight of this hotel is its scenery. You can take your time to fully appreciate the beauty of Kobe Port – it's an experience worth having. The drawback is that it's a bit far from Sannomiya's shopping centers, which can affect your subsequent plans."

"The hotel's shower facilities were excellent. Its location is right next to Nanjing Street, an 8-minute walk from Kobe's waterfront, and a 5-minute walk from Sannomiya Station, which offers access to various transportation options. However, the breakfast was quite mediocre, both in terms of variety and quality."

"This is my fourth time staying at this hotel. The location is super convenient; it's a quick walk from Sannomiya. It's also very close to the highway bus stop, which offers direct service to USJ, making it even more convenient than traveling from Osaka. Plus, you can easily catch the airport shuttle from here. So convenient!"

"Had a great stay here! The location is perfect—super close to Sannomiya Station, which made getting around a breeze. The room was nice and spacious, really comfortable. The area is safe and quiet at night, so I could actually get a good night's sleep, which is so important when traveling. Highly recommend!"

"Overall, our stay was good, especially the location. The room is a bit old but still well maintained. However, we were not happy with one aspect of the service. A staff member (possibly a manager or senior from the F&B team) was not very professional and came across as quite rude. He physically blocked us from entering the breakfast area without listening to our explanation. We clearly mentioned that our friend was already inside and had a table, and we were just trying to confirm the table number. However, he insisted we go to Level 1 for breakfast and did not allow us to explain further. We had to go back and forth between the lift, trying to contact our friend, which was quite frustrating. Only after we showed him a photo did he finally allow us to enter. What surprised us most was that the restaurant was actually quite empty, with many available tables. We don’t understand why we were told it was full and asked to go elsewhere. We hope the hotel can improve staff communication and professionalism to avoid similar situations in the future."

"Taking the bus from Kansai Airport, it's not a long walk from Sannomiya Station. However, we initially went to the wrong hotel, finding another one by mistake. The hotel is located in a bustling market, which is very convenient. It's right behind Nanjingmachi (Chinatown) and extremely close to the seaside and Sannomiya. The hotel has Chinese-speaking staff who were very polite. The room was also quiet, and the toiletries were excellent. There's a 7-Eleven convenience store to the left. A 5-minute walk to the right will take you to Daimaru Department Store. We stayed for three days and were very satisfied. If we come to Kobe again, we'll likely stay here."

"Stayed here 2 days before my Kobe cruise and it was good enough to rebook for another 3 days after we returned. The hotel is quiet new and located on top of the sannomiya station, giving underground access to most trains and shopping malls nearby. It's basically the center of Kobe. Exits are 1st floor to the street and 2nd floor to station. Reception is 17th floor. Rooms are slightly bigger than most hotels in Japan. Even number room gives you the larger massage machine but room is smaller than odd numbered rooms. These have a smaller massage chair but bigger space and faces the port terminal if you have a cruise ship waiting. They provide amenities, coffee and tea at 17th floor. Did not try the breakfast but there is a convenient store on 2nd floor of the station, near the hotel exit - lots if sandwiches and snacks here. There're hundreds of restaurants and malls underground and you'll get lost most of the time so look for entrance A1 and A2 to get back. Airport bus from kansai stops 200m away and bus to the airport departs 100m from the station. Most of the highest rated restaurants are not more than 400m from the hotel. I'll definitely stay here again."

"An older hotel but still very comfortable. Complimentary beverages are available at the reception and there’s a convenience store right next door for added convenience. The rates are affordable making it a great option for both short and long stays. The room was clean and overall there’s really nothing to complain about considering the price. Close to tourist attractions with a car. No parking on-site but there are many coins parking at the area."

"Compared to Kyoto, the Monterey in Kobe offers much better service. Sona is quite small, and lately, there's been too much of a Korean presence there. Although the hotel is a short walk from the station, it's still easy to find. There is indeed a red-light district nearby, making it a bit noisy and messy (though understandable). The room layout is reasonable, the TV supports screen mirroring, and the toiletries are generously provided, with the DHC lotion being particularly good. Don Quijote is just a short walk away, and it's very convenient to get to Sannomiya Station and Kitano Ijinkan (home to the famous 'Life Toast' and the 70-year-old coffee shop), all within walking distance. The breakfast selection is rich and delicious, with the bread being a pleasant surprise. On a side note, you should definitely avoid the Monterey in Kyoto. Their unfriendliness towards Chinese guests is blatant, especially from the middle-aged Japanese female receptionist! She denied us available rooms unless we insisted and argued on the spot. She also reneged on a promised room type change, even rolling her eyes when a colleague confirmed it with her.🙄"
