"The room was small, which is normal for Japanese hotels. You had to use a key to open a heavy iron door that only had a deadbolt, no chain. The entire room was dimly lit and very dusty. The hotel seemed to have been renovated, as there was a strong, unpleasant odor – I was actually worried about being poisoned. As soon as I entered, I found hair on the bed. That night, sleeping under the duvet, I broke out in a very itchy rash. On the second night, the air conditioning turned off by itself, and I woke up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat. Also, while the tap water was drinkable, other hotels usually provide one or two bottles of drinking water, but here there was nothing. The only upsides were that it was cheap and had a fridge. The transportation was also very inconvenient. I do not recommend it."

"Like the quaint yet very elaborate ryokan style of living. The onsen may not be as big and fancy as in noboribetsu but it is still comfortable. I subscribed to their dinner and breakfast which was pretty good. I definitely live the wooden bathtub in my room. They have shuttle services to and from Arima Onsen region. The only complain I have is the weak wifi."

"The check-in process and room facilities, as well as the dining, were standard, featuring tatami rooms. The hotel is a bit far from the town, but it offers three key highlights: 1) The shuttle bus driver provided excellent service, deliberately taking a scenic route on the way back to the hotel, stopping briefly on a bridge surrounded by cherry blossoms along the riverbanks, allowing guests to take memorable photos. 2) The moment cherry blossoms fluttered down in front of the annex was unforgettable. 3) Dinner was served in our room, and the staff meticulously explained each dish."

"It's a bit far from the main street, but its elevated location offers beautiful sunset views. The Japanese-style rooms don't have private bathrooms, but you can shower after soaking in the onsen (hot spring). The hotel is a bit old, but very clean, giving a feeling of time standing still, which is quite nice. There's a free shuttle bus to the main attractions, which is very convenient. The large public bath and fishpond are also very relaxing, offering hot, simmered, and cold baths."

"We chose this hotel expecting the standard of a 5-star Marriott, but our expectations fell completely short. During our stay, it was my birthday. However, the hotel didn't show any gesture of recognition whatsoever—no card, no small amenity, nothing. For a 5-star hotel of a well-known international brand, this was quite surprising. What shocked us even more was the situation with flowers. I was given a bouquet, and it turned out the hotel didn't have a vase to provide for the room. When I asked for help, the staff suggested… going out and buying a vase myself. For a 5-star Marriott, this is simply nonsense. The hotel itself is quite dated. It gives the impression that an existing property simply rebranded to Marriott, but neither the service level nor the staff training meets the chain's standards yet. A separate disappointment was the spa area. There is no sauna in the women's locker room, only a large bathtub, whereas the sauna is located in the men's area. For a hotel of this caliber, this is also very strange. Ultimately, you get a famous Marriott sign and a 5-star label, but there is no 5-star service experience. That is precisely why I advise future guests not to rely solely on the brand and to read recent reviews carefully before booking."
