Chinese Public Holidays to Avoid in 2026

Shanghai Disneyland may be much busier during these major holiday periods:

  • New Year’s Day: January 1 to 3
  • Spring Festival: February 15 to 23
  • Qingming Festival: April 4 to 6
  • Labor Day: May 1 to 5
  • Dragon Boat Festival: June 19 to 21

  • National Day: October 1 to 7

Choose dates outside these periods when your travel schedule is flexible.

Best Days and Times to Visit Shanghai Disneyland

Shanghai Disney Resort

A non-holiday weekday is generally better than a weekend or public holiday. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are worth checking first, but no day is guaranteed to be quiet.

Crowds also change throughout the day:

  • First hour after opening: Usually one of the best times for popular attractions.
  • Late morning to mid-afternoon: The park often becomes busier, with longer ride and restaurant queues.
  • During parades and major shows: Some attraction queues may become shorter, but this is not guaranteed.
  • Final hours before closing: Waiting times for selected rides may decrease again.

Always check live wait times before changing your route.

🏨 Pro Tip: Don’t forget to looks for Shanghai hotels near major attractions to make your sightseeing more convenient!

Other Signs Shanghai Disneyland May Be Busy

Crowd calendars are not the only way to estimate visitor demand.

  • Ticket availability: Limited or sold-out tickets may suggest higher demand.
  • Park operating hours: Longer hours may indicate that the resort expects more visitors.
  • Disney Premier Access availability: Popular options may sell out faster on busy dates.
  • Nearby hotel prices: Higher prices around the resort may indicate stronger travel demand.
  • Recent wait times: Check waiting-time patterns from recent days with the same weekday as your planned visit.

These signs are only planning references and do not confirm the actual crowd level.

How to Avoid Long Lines at Shanghai Disneyland

Shanghai Disney Resort

Arrive Before the Published Opening Time

  • Arrive early to complete security and ticket checks before the park opens.
  • Head directly to your top-priority attraction after entering.
  • Check whether an Early Park Entry Pass is available for your visit date.
  • Eligible guests may enter up to one hour before the published opening time.
  • Early entry requires valid park admission and is subject to availability and product conditions.

Choose Your Priority Attractions in Advance

Select two or three must-visit attractions before entering the park.

Popular choices include:

  • Zootopia: Hot Pursuit
  • Soaring Over the Horizon
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
  • TRON Lightcycle Power Run
  • Roaring Rapids
  • Pirates of the Caribbean Battle for the Sunken Treasure

Go to your most important attraction first. Check the official app for operating conditions, closures, and height requirements.

Check Wait Times Throughout the Day

  • Compare nearby attractions before walking across the park.
  • Adjust your route when queues become longer.
  • Check whether outdoor rides are temporarily closed because of weather.
  • Do not depend only on an itinerary prepared before your visit.

Use Single Rider Lines Where Available

Single Rider lines may reduce waiting time when you do not mind being separated from your group.

Availability may change, so check the official app or ask a Cast Member at the attraction entrance.

Check for a Disney Standby Pass

A Disney Standby Pass may be offered for selected attractions, entertainment, or experiences.

  • Link your park ticket to the official app.
  • Check whether a Standby Pass is available.
  • Obtain the pass through the app.
  • Return during the assigned period.
  • Be prepared to wait after returning because it is not an immediate-entry pass.

Participating experiences and availability may change.

Use Showtimes Carefully

Some attraction queues may become shorter during parades or nighttime shows.

Check live wait times before using this strategy. Showtimes may also change because of weather, special events, or operational requirements.

My child had been looking forward to this Disneyland trip for a long time, and the experience was absolutely fantastic! Since I'm too busy with work to accompany them, my parents took the child. Before their arrival, I called the hotel and mentioned that my child really wanted a bunk bed, and they made a note of it. Upon arrival, the hotel did their best to fulfill our request. The staff member who answered the phone was incredibly patient, guiding me on how to get from the airport to the hotel by subway. The food was also excellent, and my child loved it. My mother said that all the staff provided wonderful service. I especially want to highlight one thing: because my parents were a bit confused, my child didn't get to take a picture with Mickey in his pajamas on the night of check-in. My parents felt very guilty about it. After informing the hotel's lobby manager, they arranged for the photo to be taken the next day, which deserves huge praise! It's such a human-centered hotel (because I felt it was our own mistake, and the hotel could have easily refused, so I didn't have high hopes). This made our trip truly unforgettable. The overall check-in process, facilities, and environment were all excellent, far surpassing the Chimelong hotels in Guangzhou and Zhuhai. I'm so grateful to the Disneyland Hotel for giving our family such wonderful memories on this trip. I genuinely recommend everyone who has the means to experience the hotel's executive room; it's fantastic!

The resort is beautiful, giving you the feeling of having a private estate all to yourself. It's very close to Disneyland, and there's a free shuttle available all the time from the hotel lobby to the roadside entrance. The front desk staff are absolutely wonderful – so warm and attentive. As soon as they see someone approach, they immediately stand up and ask if they need assistance. The two gentlemen at the front desk, pictured here, were especially great; seeing that we had two children, they even upgraded us to a family room. The hotel blankets are very soft, and the plants in the courtyard are stunning. The only slight unpleasantness was at breakfast. The gentleman working in the breakfast area was incredibly kind, making sure no guest felt neglected, and even had his apprentice with him to train him. He was consistently enthusiastic. However, there was a 'Miss Grumpy' in the breakfast area who seemed to be in a bad mood, spoke unhappily, kept looking at her watch, and had a dismissive attitude, almost like she was looking down on people – a real 'Shanghai princess' vibe. I believe that if you're in the service industry, you need to have a service spirit and consciousness, not act as if you're superior just because you're in Shanghai. If it weren't for 'Miss Grumpy,' I would give this hotel a perfect score.

I first stayed at this hotel before I was married, and now I've returned with my two children. The cleanliness, ambiance, and location are still excellent, just as I remembered. The only thing that has changed, and not for the better, is the service and management. Firstly, upon arrival, the concierge desk was completely empty. Guests had to haul their own luggage and children to check-in. At the front desk, there was a female employee who seemed like it was her first day on the job; she provided no information about breakfast, the hot springs, shuttle times, or even game machine tokens. My child wanted to exchange a toy, and it took three trips to the lobby and a six-hour wait to resolve the issue. Each time, all she said was, 'Sorry, we were just busy.' We were the only family in the entire lobby, so I have no idea what she was busy with. Secondly, another male employee was also completely devoid of any human empathy. After 11 AM, the shuttle runs only once an hour, but before 11 AM, it can depart at any time. We arrived at the front desk just before 11 AM to request a departure, and this employee falsely claimed the driver was out to lunch and couldn't leave. As we were about to leave the hotel on foot, we saw the shuttle right outside with the driver inside. The driver then went back to the lobby to try and communicate for us, but the front desk employee still refused to let the shuttle leave. Thirdly, on our first night, guests upstairs watched the World Cup until late, causing noise from midnight until 2 AM. I repeatedly tried to communicate with the front desk, but they insisted there was no noise, claiming it was thunder outside, which was laughable. The next day, there was no explanation or apology whatsoever. Absolutely fantastic, just fantastic.

Before the New Year, we went on a spontaneous trip with one child and one adult. The experience was beyond our expectations when we stayed at Xianshe Villa for our visit to Shanghai Disneyland. The environment was clean and tidy, the housekeeper service was warm and considerate, the auntie's breakfast was nutritious, and the driver picked us up at Disneyland safely and on time. The villa provided both the warmth of home and the services and supporting facilities of a five-star hotel. The experience was perfect. My child is already looking forward to staying at Xianshe Villa for the next Disney trip with her classmates and bestie.

The service after check-in was, as always, excellent. The front desk and housekeeping staff were very friendly and welcoming.👍 This isn't my first time staying here, but the booking process for this particular stay wasn't smooth. The workflow was slow, and I didn't get timely responses. This stay was a date change for an earlier booking because my child had a last-minute exam. Even though the rescheduled booking has been completed, the cancellation and refund process for the original booking hasn't been finalized yet. The hotel booking department said it would take another 30 to 60 days because it's a Disney company. Couldn't this process be optimized or upgraded?

This Disney homestay really won me over! 🎀 For my recent trip to Disney, I discovered an amazing guesthouse that I absolutely have to recommend to everyone! 🏠 Guesthouse Name: Shanghai Ruyi Pavilion Special Guesthouse 📍 Location: Super close to Disney, about a 10-minute drive. The owner offers shuttle service, which is incredibly convenient! 🌳 Environment: The room is decorated very warmly, the bedding is comfortable, and the hygiene is really well-maintained. 💁♀️ Service: The owner is so enthusiastic and thoughtful! 🍽 Dining: The breakfast selection is good, and everything tastes great. 💰 Value for money: Among guesthouses around Disney, the price is genuinely fair. It's hard to find such good facilities and service at a similar price point. Staying at this guesthouse really added a lot to my Disney trip. I'll definitely stay here again next time I visit Disney!

The B&B is relatively close to Disneyland. In the morning, the store is responsible for sending us to the entrance of the scenic area. It is very convenient to take the bus directly to the hotel when we come back. It is very convenient to go back to the city and the store helps to send us to the subway station. After a day of playing, they turned on the air conditioner in advance and the room was not cold. The children like the bunk beds and find it interesting. The hot water shower has a strong water pressure. There is a simple breakfast. I am satisfied 😀

The location was great and easy to find, though it was a bit of a walk from the subway station. We even caught the Disney fireworks display right as we were approaching! The inn had little lights on its roof that were visible from afar. Check-in was smooth, and we were escorted to our room. Breakfast was delivered to our room the next morning and had such a wide variety of dishes that my child and I couldn't even finish it all! 😄 They also offer a shuttle service to Disney, which was incredibly convenient. I'd definitely consider staying at this guesthouse again on our next trip!

The front desk was very good. Isn't it a big deal to come to Disneyland? The front desk will tell you everything! The hotel service is very good and it is very close to Disneyland. Moreover, we went to Disneyland early, at 5 o'clock, and the front desk prepared a packed breakfast for us. There is also a pick-up service. Others can't get a taxi at all, so we just followed the hotel's car and left. It was great

It's very close to Disneyland, less than a ten-minute drive. The owners, a husband and wife, are incredibly kind. They provide pick-up and drop-off service to and from Disneyland, ask about your departure time every day, and also pick you up and drop you off from the subway station. You don't need to worry about finding a taxi at all. They even told us how to enjoy the rides; they were very welcoming. The rooms are quite spacious, and it's quiet at night. 【High-Value Family B&B Experience Near Disney】A Perfect Holiday Home for Two Adults and Two Children. Parents bringing their kids to Disney, listen up! This original B&B by Mr. Gao & Ms. Feng is definitely worth saving! As first-time Disney visitors, our whole family had an unexpectedly wonderful experience: **Space Magician**: The 40+ sqm space is incredibly well-utilized. The slide in the room made the kids scream with delight the moment they walked in! My 6-year-old and 4-year-old immediately turned the slide area into their secret base. Sleeping on the 1.8-meter main bed with mom was completely comfortable for both kids, and dad got plenty of rest on the bottom bunk of the 1.2-meter bunk bed. **Parent-Child Detail Obsessive's Dream**: Corner protectors and outlet covers are fully equipped. The children's showerhead is at just the right height, and a thoughtful step stool is provided at the washbasin. Details truly matter here. **Behind-the-Scenes Dedication**: The owner personally cleans all rooms and public areas. All linens are washed in-house, not outsourced. Toiletries, drinking water, and snacks are all high-quality brands, often the same ones the owners or their children use. So, features like a wet/dry separation bathroom, Laifen hairdryer, and JmGO projector, which would be praised elsewhere, almost go unnoticed here. **Hidden Disney Tips**: The owner provided many practical tips for our park visit, saving us a lot of trouble! At checkout, my daughter was given a small drink, which she said tasted great, and kept asking her mom to buy more on the way home. **Suggestions for Improvement**: I hope a detachable bed rail can be added to the side of the bed (for more peace of mind when sleeping with younger children). Providing stroller rental would be even better. Although slightly more expensive than surrounding B&Bs, enjoying private butler-style service for 200 RMB per person is incredibly good value! We didn't get to experience the large lawn in the yard, the mini-pool in the backyard, or the rooftop terrace this time, but they've left us plenty to look forward to. It looks like our accommodation for our second Disney trip in a few years has already been pre-booked!

Originally, I booked the Bell but got upgraded to the Ayesha. The Bell is that single red house with glass windows on the outside, which can get a bit damp on rainy days. The staff were all very warm, polite, and friendly. If you're a family of two adults and two children, it offers good value for money. The only downside is that getting a taxi can be a hassle; after leaving Disney, you have to walk to the ride-hailing pick-up/drop-off point. The hotel only provides one complimentary transfer. When taking a taxi back, be sure to pay attention to your location, as the buildings are quite spread out. I got dropped off at the wrong one and wasted 16 yuan unnecessarily. The disposable amenities were excellent; I specifically wanted to mention them as I hadn't seen others post about them, so you can pack a little lighter.

I visited Qianyun after looking at dozens of places in the area. I wanted to be away from typical city area, have a bathtub and nice outdoor area, and with easy access to Shanghai Disneyland. Qianyun met all those requirements and more! The location was immediately very serene and surrounded by forest, but still easy to access lots of waimai food delivery options. They were also very kind and proactive about sharing information about local restaurants and activities, and provide a breakfast and evening fruit every day. They offer free car transport to Disneyland, and I was excited to use this service but I ended up enjoying my time at the hotel so much that I opted to stay and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere instead! The hotel pets are so friendly - within five minutes the little cat Banban was on my lap and purring. The room itself is decorated very nicely with all the amenities you need. The bathtub inside is very comfortable and I loved the outdoor hot spring tub as well. The attention to hygiene is very highly emphasized and I was impressed with how clean and luxurious everything felt. I will definitely visit again and recommend to anyone hoping to have a convenient getaway from the city, or who would like to be near to Disneyland Resort while also experiencing a more peaceful area and for a good economical value and high quality service! Thankyou for the wonderful stay, I felt very welcome at all times.

Pros: 1. This is probably the closest well-known brand hotel to Disney. The shuttle service is excellent, with frequent trips covering Disney, the airport, and the train station (Image 1). 2. The room was clean and the staff were friendly! The minibar offered free chips and drinks, though unfortunately, it was a fixed selection of only two cans per day (Image 7). There was plenty of complimentary bottled water. Cons: 1. The room lighting was too dim, especially in the bathroom. I suggest increasing the wattage of the lights. 2. The bathroom lacked hooks or other facilities to hang clothes or towels. I highly recommend adding hooks. 3. The showerhead needs to be replaced; the spray area is too small. I suggest checking out the Courtyard by Marriott Puxi for reference. 4. The closet was narrow and long, with very little hanging space, so it couldn't accommodate many coats (Image 6). 5. It would be perfect if they could add a FamilyMart convenience store at the entrance, similar to the nearby Novotel (which even shares the same airport shuttle bus!).

This might be okay for camping, but not really suitable as a hotel. As soon as I turned on the exhaust fan, black debris started falling. Just after sitting on the sofa, I spotted long cobwebs. There were spiderwebs in several places. The wall-mounted air conditioner in the main double bed area blew directly onto the bed, while the bunk beds at the other end got no air circulation at all. The person sleeping on the double bed was freezing at night. The AC fan blades, even when adjusted upwards, would slowly drop down on their own. Plus, the bed was very short; my feet would hang off if I moved even a little. Directly facing the bed was a large, uncovered mirror. Although the bunk beds were single, they actually offered decent space, similar to a high-speed train. However, they were separated from the bathroom by just a board, and the automatic toilet flush would wake up anyone sleeping there. The environment itself was undeniably beautiful: lush trees, chirping insects and birds. But every time I opened the door, I had to shoo away mosquitoes. Entering required careful timing to rush in and prevent mosquitoes from flying inside with me. Throughout the night, I swatted several mosquitoes, flies, and moths. The mosquito repellent provided was the old-fashioned mosquito coil pad type. Even with it on and the window open all night, one of my companions still felt very uncomfortable and nauseous. It's about a 10-minute walk to the Disney metro station, but the actual entrance to Disney is still quite a distance away. However, that's more an issue with Disney's layout.

It was such am amazing stay! 1. The service is great. Everyone is so friendly, I really like the details in the room, a free transfer that they provide(we bought early entry tickets, so I thought that they dont provide such an early shuttle, but the earliest one was 07:00 and we were able to enjoy Disneyland for 100%. 2. The room was spacious, had a big bath. Its perfect to enjoy after Disneyland! 3. The breakfast was very limited, we couldn’t eat that. But the delivery services goes here. By the way, never try to get here by walk, it is wuite far away and the roads are confusing, thats why ask for a transfer (in advance, through We chat)

I stayed at Qing Shu Homestay many years ago, and I've chosen it again without hesitation after comparing it to other newly opened hotels recently. It's so convenient with its pickup and drop-off service, which is a great personal touch, and breakfast is included. It's very close to Disneyland and quiet at night. I booked a twin room, which was very spacious, equipped with hangers and a dehumidifier. Everything was great, except for the showerhead in the bathroom, which could use an upgrade. I'd suggest adding some Disney-themed fabric sofas and maybe some Zootopia stickers on the walls to enhance the atmosphere. I hope this great value-for-money homestay continues to improve and thrive!

This B&B has all the basic amenities, including a projector. Most importantly, the owner is super nice and offers free pick-up and drop-off services, including to Disneyland and the subway station, with very flexible timings. Even if we finished late at the park, the owner would wait for us. The breakfast in the morning had a good variety and was very healthy; the pickled vegetables were delicious 😋. If visiting Disneyland is your main itinerary, staying here is a perfect choice! I'll definitely stay here again next time I go to Disneyland ^_^

The room was spacious and very clean. The owner was incredibly kind and helped us immediately whenever we encountered any issues. There's a shuttle service once in the morning and once in the evening, which is very convenient for getting to and from Disneyland since it's so close. The 'wedding candy' and 'love letter' were in the same spot, which was a nice touch.

The room was incredibly clean! The owner, a lovely lady, was also super nice. She even prepared breakfast for us early in the morning and gave us directions. She's really easy to talk to, and the guesthouse is close to the subway, making it very convenient for getting around! I'll definitely choose Shiguang Xiaoyuan again next time I'm in Shanghai!

I stayed in this B&B for two consecutive days. The facilities are very complete and clean, and the soundproofing is quite good. It was very quiet at night. The toiletries are also very exquisite. The hygiene and environment inside and outside the room and the courtyard are very good. As soon as I arrived at the B&B, I felt a full Disney atmosphere. The kids loved it. The owner is very kind and the service is great. It is close to Disney and there is shuttle service. The breakfast is also clean and hygienic. This B&B is super convenient all day long, and the quality and value are good. I strongly recommend renting a stroller from the owner. It is much cheaper than inside Disney. You can also buy Disney headbands here. I think Disney headbands have a good atmosphere. I just want a cheap and beautiful one 😊

Chose this place for our Shanghai Disneyland trip, and it exceeded expectations! The location is absolutely perfect, so close to Disney, and the owner even offers free shuttle service, which is a lifesaver when you're tired from playing. The small courtyard has a charming Suzhou garden style with a fish pond and swing, which the kids absolutely loved. The rooms are clean and tidy, with various themes, and the smart devices are super convenient. The front desk staff were warm and thoughtful, and the breakfast was delicious too. We'll definitely stay here again next time, highly recommended!
