Do Filipinos Need a Visa for Shanghai?

Yes. Filipino passport holders generally need a valid Chinese visa for a regular trip to Shanghai.

The Philippines is currently not included in China's 30-day visa-free entry list or the 240-hour visa-free transit program.

How to Get from Pudong Airport to Shanghai Late at Night

If your final destination is Shanghai rather than the airport, you still have transportation options after landing late.

Pudong Airport Transport Comparison

Pudong Airport Late-Night Bus

For budget travelers arriving after regular rail services finish, the late-night airport bus is one of the most useful options.

Current Shanghai Airport information lists the late-night service as:

• Terminal 1: 11:00 PM to 5:30 AM
• Terminal 2: 11:03 PM to 5:33 AM
• Fare: approximately RMB 18 to RMB 34 depending on your stop

This can be much cheaper than taking a taxi all the way into central Shanghai.

🚌 Transport Tip: Check the stop nearest your hotel before boarding. If your hotel is far from the bus stop, you may still need a short taxi or ride-hailing trip afterward.

Shanghai Airport Link Line

The Shanghai Airport Link Line is useful if you need to travel between Pudong Airport and the Hongqiao transport area.

It connects Pudong and Hongqiao in about 40 minutes, making it much faster than taking the metro for an airport-to-airport transfer.

From Pudong Airport:

• First train: around 6:00 AM
• Last train: around 10:00 PM
• Frequency: approximately every 15 minutes

Shanghai Maglev Train

The Shanghai Maglev connects Pudong Airport with Longyang Road Station.

Current airport information lists:

• Pudong Airport to Longyang Road: 7:02 AM to 9:42 PM
• Longyang Road to Pudong Airport: 6:45 AM to 9:40 PM
• Regular one-way fare: RMB 50
• Top speed: up to 300 km/h

The ride itself is very fast, but remember that Longyang Road is not in the main tourist area. You may still need to transfer to the metro or take a car to reach your hotel.

From Longyang Road, You Can Transfer To:

🚄 Maglev Tip: The Maglev is useful when speed matters, but Metro Line 2 may be simpler if you want one continuous journey toward central Shanghai and are not in a hurry.

• You are traveling with children
• Your hotel is not near a late-night bus stop

Always follow the official airport signs to the taxi queue or designated ride-hailing pickup area.

When using a ride-hailing app:

2. Confirm your terminal and pickup point.
