2-Star Hotels in Canton of Lucerne, Switzerland

This hostel seem to have quite a few asian guests. The reception is not 24/7. It only has certain open hours. It may be quite inconvenient if you are arriving our of the reception hours. But this hostel is close to hiking starting point for Pilatus.

One of the cheapest hostel options in Luzern, yet also the best. Beautiful common area aside, the bed capsule is one of the comfiest of my 46-day Europe trip. Free huge luggage storage. And the shower facilities are as well-equipped/designed as many Japanese hostel. Location-wise, it’s 1min walk away from bus stop (and few minutes from an awesome glacial museum), super convenient. The only weird thing was the electronic luggage storage failed on me two times, like I couldn’t open it after closing it with the electronic key. One of the times happened past midnight (receptionist had left), leaving me with no toothbrush/facial care to use before sleeping. Not sure what went wrong. But overall I totally enjoyed my stay here. An accommodation option I’d prioritize next time I’m back to Luzern.

I stayed one night at Capsule Hotel - Lucerne Old Town and had such a comfortable experience. The check-in process was super simple and smooth. I had some trouble opening my locker (twice, actually!), but each time the staff was incredibly kind and patiently helped me without hesitation — their warm attitude really stood out. My capsule was near the main door to the room, so I thought it might be noisy. But even when I was awake, I only noticed the sound of someone entering faintly, and I couldn’t hear anything while I was asleep. The capsules were impressively sound-insulated and felt very private and peaceful — which I know is something many capsule hotel guests care about. The shared kitchen was also easy to use, with a microwave, dishes, pepper, and other basics available — a nice bonus for a short stay. One small note: the power outlet inside the capsule is a Type C only, so be sure to bring the right adapter if you need one. The space was clean, modern, and felt very safe. I would absolutely stay again if I return to Lucerne. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Good location, walk to bus station in 1 minute. By Bus to train station only 3 minutes. A young service man always speak ‘sir’ in his response is really good and friendly. So I want to let you know.

Paul und Joyce sind sehr herzliche Gastgeber. Wir wurden gut empfangen und es gab alles was wir brauchten. Kaffee, Gebäck, Schoggi... Die Zimmer sind gut, die Betten bequem. Wir fühlten uns fast wie Zuhause. Kommen gerne wieder

The first time I stayed, I felt good, it is very recommended that the location is very good, check in or checkout time is very convenient for tourists

There is free parking space, there is a free bus ticket for the designated bus day trip, the right hand is the 20 bus, the left hand also has a bus platform. The room is small and cramped, winning in the price/performance ratio, it is more convenient to take the bus to various attractions, suitable for city walk. No disposable items, hair dryer, bath towels, no shower slippers, hand washing, bath shampoo. The triple room on the second floor has a super large terrace, which can be picnic on the terrace, and the room is also equipped with a large electric fan.

We have mixed feelings about Barabas Lucerne. Pros: Love the concept of a former city jail being turned into budget accommodation (budget priced for Switzerland) Spotlessly clean Lucerne is beautiful Friendly staff Comfortable small beds Good location Cons: No ventilation in the room. One small window that was very high and closed No air-conditioning in the room Very noisy with screaming teenagers when we were there. Very small rooms Poor room design. No storage. Sharp metal corners on the beds Shower is small and awkward, but good flow of hot water. Summary Clean accommodation suited to single, budget-minded backpackers. Very Instagram-friendly. A lot more thought could have gone into the room design. Has great potential.
