Hotels in Yu Garden Area, Shanghai

This hotel is 8-9 years old, and the facilities are quite poor. There's absolutely no street view. I initially went to the Marriott Renaissance by mistake, which is around the same price and also has similar operating hours, but it's in a much higher building. If you're not in one of the street-facing rooms at the Mercure, you're looking right at the back of a residential complex. 😢 The late-night snack was just noodles and wontons from that day! And the breakfast the next morning 😂😂😂 was even worse... I arrived at 9:20 AM and most of the food was gone, and they weren't restocking it promptly. I observed that by 9:45 AM, there was hardly anything good left. If you want breakfast, you better go early! I came here based on Ctrip reviews, but honestly, it was just mediocre. I don't know why it has so many good reviews! The Marriott Renaissance, for a similar price, offers city night views (not of the Oriental Pearl Tower, though) and an indoor pool, and it's closer to Yu Garden. The two hotels are only about a 10-minute walk apart! Anyway, if there's a next time, I'll definitely choose the Marriott Renaissance. 😂😂😂 Oh, and the hairdryer in the hotel 😂😂😂 had a bad connection; I had to hold it to make it work. I also don't know if it was just my imagination, but when I first entered the bathroom, there was a slight smell of urine... and my nose is particularly sensitive. To sum it up in one sentence... this room is not worth 1200! The service, however, was very good! No doubt about that.

The hotel's location is great, making it super convenient for dining and shopping. The room was very clean, no strange smells, and the bed was really comfortable. Hot water came quickly, and all the facilities worked well. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient with the check-in/check-out process. The environment was also quite quiet, so my rest at night wasn't disturbed. It offers good value for money, and it's a perfect place to stay when traveling. I'd definitely come back if I have the chance.

The room environment is great. Downstairs is a commercial area, which is very convenient for evening strolls. Shantan Street is just around the corner downstairs, very close. The room is clean and tidy, and the service attitude is good.

The room was thoroughly cleaned and well-maintained, with no strange odors, and the space was spacious and comfortable. The front desk service was warm and polite; they responded promptly to any issues and had a gentle attitude. The hotel's facilities were well-maintained, the environment was quiet, and I had an excellent night's rest. Overall, it was a great experience, and I will prioritize booking here again on my next visit.

The hotel has a great location—the main shopping street and the waterfront are within walking distance. The metro is within walking distance, which is very important (a two-minute walk). This is especially important because, when returning to the hotel tired in the evening, we could quickly get from the metro to the hotel. I also want to express my sincere gratitude to the reception manager, Suki — she helped us arrange our domestic flight to the Avatar Mountains (we couldn't check in or choose seats). She was a very pleasant and responsible woman! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The apartment is excellent, clean, with new facilities, and easy to find. The room is spacious and cozy, and it's within walking distance to all major attractions. I highly recommend it for families traveling together. It offers great value for money, especially being located near the Bund.

Location is the biggest advantage. It’s about a 5-minute walk to Yu Garden and the nearby bazaar area, with a metro station literally just across the street. Getting around from here is very easy, whether you’re heading to tourist spots or other parts of the city. The room itself was clean and well-maintained. A nice modern touch is the delivery robot service, which handles in-house deliveries efficiently. You can also order from Taobao and have packages sent directly to the hotel before check-in, which is quite convenient for early arrivals or shopping-heavy trips. One downside is the package handling system. Deliveries are left in a shared corner area with other guests’ items, so you need to sort through and find yours yourself—there’s no organized storage or labeling beyond that. Laundry is free and available 24/7, which is a big plus for longer stays. However, there are only two machines, so you may need to queue during busy hours. Overall, it’s a very accessible and practical stay, especially for travelers who value location and convenience over extra hotel services.

We had a wonderful 5-day stay in Shanghai with our family. We booked club rooms, which gave us access to the Club Lounge on the 17th floor with panoramic views of Shanghai. We opted for a Suite and a Studio room. The beds and pillows were excellent. Breakfast offered everything one could wish for – especially delicious soups, noodles, and dumplings... We will definitely return. There's a metro station nearby, and the main attractions are just a 15-20 minute walk away. In the mornings, we enjoyed strolls along the waterfront. There's a small pool on the 21st floor, and the changing rooms have a steam sauna, which you need to request to be turned on in advance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you for your hospitality. We will definitely be back.

Room Environment: The room facilities are a bit dated, and there are not many TV channels, but overall, it's clean and tidy. Service: The front desk staff were great, even proactively asking if we had enough water and offering more if needed. The cleaning aunties were also lovely, very polite, and would ask if we needed any refills on toiletries. Right after check-in, as we were going up to our room with two large suitcases, a staff member who looked like a maintenance worker in the same elevator even helped us push our luggage. All the hotel staff were very friendly. Surroundings: There are plenty of places to eat, drink, and have fun nearby. It's very close to the subway station, making it convenient to get anywhere. The Bund and City God Temple are also within walking distance.
