I love this hotel! From the moment we were ushered in from the shuttle coming via Odawara stn, the hotel felt very welcoming. Reception was a large open table that is not your typical hotel reception that feel too formal. we were first brought to the lower bar seating area where it’s comfy sofa seating. Check in took awhile as many guests were received from the hotel shuttle bus (25-30 seater). Staff always check in with us on the progress while we waited. Room came with private onsen though I hope it could have been the natural spring water instead of tap. Love the huge room size thats great for little kids to run around, met my standard of cleanliness as well. Breakfast adequate but not a huge spread which I find pricey at 3900 yen. Some bread, fried jap style fish, somen, cold appetisers, veg dips, fruits, around 6-8 hot dishes including omelette and poached eggs. Yet a lot of drink choices fr milk, soy, juices, teas, etc. we had the set dinner 18000 yen and 15000 yen as both of us had diff menus. Was a 3-4 course dinner, nothing out of this world and we didnt want the hassle of walking out to find food. This was one hotel we found many singaporeans (we are one too) as breakfast and dinnertime in resto is when we
started noticing the accents. Nearby is a 7-11 nearby around 300m by foot if you feel peckish in middle of the night. Very pleasant stay, like that they provide mpv service to and fro gora station that would be most main boarding point to other attractions, mind that it runs till 6pm so any later you can take the Hakone Tozan bus which brings you to the pizza resto just a short 50m walk from hotel main road.

I've had the pleasure of staying at several high-end hotels, including the Hakone Gora Byakudan. Without a doubt, Byakudan surpasses its competitors in every aspect. The service, facilities, and genuine care for guests are exceptional. I only wish I could have extended my stay. The room was flawlessly clean, and the bed provided a truly restful night's sleep. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive, readily available to assist with any needs. The hotel's location is convenient, offering easy access to local attractions. Additionally, the complimentary car service to nearby destinations such as art museums and the cable station was a thoughtful touch. The Japanese dinner and breakfast were beyond delicious, featuring a diverse array of options. The snacks and wine bar were equally impressive. I particularly enjoyed the massage chair and the delightful ice-cream selection. I wholeheartedly recommend the Hakone Gora Byakudan to anyone visiting the area

This is one of the best ryokan I have ever stayed in. Firstly, the location is right next to Gora Station, less than five minutes walk, which makes a big difference if you've come from, say, Tokyo to Hakone. Additionally, the rooms were comfortable and the private baths/balcony feature available for all rooms is lovely. The Double Western room we stayed in had the best of both worlds with the traditional Japanese bath and a comfortable bed (while futon are fine, we preferred a bed). Finally, the samue monk work clothes the hotel lends you to wear as sleepwear is so comfortable, my only complaint is that there are none available for purchase. Also, the hot spring bath facilities were great. We only used the shared not public ones, but they were clean, beautifully designed, and well ventilated (which is important for not getting overheated). Travellers take note: a lot of restaurants in the area close after 7pm, and the dinner set is on the pricier side, so best to plan your dinner accordingly. The restaurants we did try (notably an udon/soba place) was very good. And the nearby shuttle to Pola Art Museum/13 min from Hakone Open Air Art Museum make this a good hotel for art-lovers. The staff are friendly and helpful too.

I did enough research for this trip to Japan, so let me tell you about the advantages and disadvantages of the hotel:
Advantages: 1. The hotel is in the mountains and the surroundings are very quiet. 2. The hotel provides hot spring bathing, and you can experience one night and two meals. The food is also very unique, you will definitely be full, and the taste is also good. At the same time, there is a free minibar in the lobby, and drinks are free to drink. 3. It is a pure Japanese hotel, and it has a unique flavor to try something new. 4. The price of one night and two meals is relatively cheap among Hakone hot spring hotels, and it is relatively cost-effective. You can consider it.
Disadvantages: 1. Although the hotel is only a 5-minute walk from the Kami-Gora tram station, the so-called tram station is the Hakone ”Mountain Cable Car”, which runs every 20 minutes during the day and ends at 18:00 in the evening. After 18:00, you can only take the ”Mountain Cable Car” to Gora Station, and then climb the mountain for more than 20 minutes to the hotel... So in fact, the hotel transportation is very inconvenient, so it is quiet. 2. There are only Japanese people at the front desk of the hotel. There is English service, but I complain that although the Japanese pay attention to the service, the efficiency is really slow. I arrived at the hotel at 3 pm. The first 3 groups of guests checked in and waited in line for 45 minutes... At the same time, there are also time regulations for dining. I personally understand that I can't accept the Japanese concept, so my personal experience of the service is relatively poor. For reference only. 3. Although public hot springs are provided, the hot spring pool is relatively small, with only 2 positions. As shown in the picture, the water temperature in the morning is OK, and the hot spring water temperature is a bit cold in the afternoon and evening.
In summary, this hotel is suitable for staying for more than 2 nights, with good value for money, and you can quietly experience the beauty of Hakone. However, the transportation is inconvenient. If you are traveling with a lot of bags, you must do your homework and calculate the timetables for trams, buses, etc. in advance. If you miss a bus and wait, you will really go crazy.

It has wonderful location, next to the port and ropeway. The view is stunning. And onsen is so beautiful, clean and nice. Amenities are good.
The dinner and breakfast are buffet style. It was tasty but I would say it is more european than japanese if it is important for you.

Great place with great staff. It was actually bigger than I thought it was going to be.
The pillows unfortunately were super hard and uncomfortable, but that’s only a small down side.
Would recommend!

Highly recommended!!! The food is great, the private bath in the room is great, and the public bath is not crowded, so you can basically enjoy it all to yourself. The scenery outside is beautiful, and there is a shuttle bus to Gora Station. There is a sculpture forest nearby, which is worth a visit

Good location, good service, lots of snacks and drinks to pick up. There is still ramen in the evening, but I was too full to eat. The hot springs ♨️ The water was excellent, the temperature was strongly hot and the quality of the spring water was higher than at another hot spring hostel on my same journey. But it was because of the convenient location so there was no scenery for dinner in the evening fortunately it was a bit not very good to eat starches at the end. Although I eat in a restaurant in a small box in a room, I am always watching whether I have finished eating.

The environment is excellent, both the outdoor environment of the hotel and the view inside the room are very good, especially the outdoor bath. As for the service, the service of several Chinese guys is very good, but the service of the Japanese front desk is just average, maybe because of the language barrier. The food is really average, and the facilities are relatively old. We originally wanted to spread the bedding in the cupboard on the tatami, but found that the sheets had not been changed and there was hair on it.

Due to the limited number of rooms (20 rooms in total), Hakone Ginyu is known as one of the most difficult hotels to book in Hakone. This time I was able to successfully book by chance, which was an unexpected surprise. The actual experience was indeed in line with expectations. The private hot spring in the room was great, and taking a bath facing the valley not far away was indeed a wonderful experience. The breakfast and dinner provided by the hotel are also very good, highly recommended 🌹
