EendlesswingsThis hotel truly deserves its reputation as the best in Qingdao. If you're staying here, I highly recommend booking a balcony sea-view room; it's incredibly comfortable and the ocean views are stunning. Before arriving, I was a bit concerned about the hotel's age, but it turns out to be an advantage. The facilities are exceptionally well-maintained, and most of the older areas have been renovated. Most importantly, the service from this established five-star hotel is, without a doubt, a cut above any other in Qingdao. Don't even bother comparing it to places like St. Regis or MGM that are hyped on Xiaohongshu; they simply can't compete.
The hotel's breakfast is very extensive, and they even provide takeout boxes for you. The dinner buffet also offers a rich variety of dishes; I particularly enjoyed the lamb chops, which were perfectly grilled, incredibly flavorful, and had excellent texture. The chef was also very happy to carve them fresh for you. I also tried the Baiguoshu restaurant. While it might be a bit pricier than outside, the quality and service genuinely surpass external options by a mile. Even their sea cucumber and rice dish had more and better ingredients than what you'd find elsewhere.
The hotel's pool is located underground, making it a little tricky to find. A special recommendation: definitely take a stroll along the beachfront right outside the hotel. There's a long wooden boardwalk with beautiful scenery. The beach has both coarse and fine sand, completely refuting the common misconception that the sand is only coarse – it seamlessly blends both types.
Even with the crowds during the May Day holiday, the hotel's service remained excellent. As someone who only stays in highly-rated five-star hotels when traveling, and after a four-night stay with sea views, my conclusion is clear: don't pay attention to a few negative reviews. If you don't find this place satisfactory, you won't find a suitable hotel in Qingdao. Remember to choose a balcony sea-view room; I saw people regretting their choice and having to pay extra on the spot to upgrade.

YYanmaimochanatieThis is my first time staying in Huangdao, even though I've visited many times. The location is excellent, and the surroundings are beautiful. At night, when the lights come on, it feels like Alice's Garden.
Service: All the staff were incredibly kind and helpful, always ready to answer any questions. Whether it was bringing up something I'd forgotten or coming to my room with a first-aid kit after I had a bump outside, they were always so patient and attentive.
I rarely leave reviews on Ctrip, but this experience was truly a pleasant surprise.

I stayed in a sea view room, but the overall value for money was just average. The windows were not only small but also very dusty, offering virtually no sea view. It felt a bit misleading and over-advertised. For this price point, I'd recommend choosing a proper star-rated hotel for a much better experience.

Service: Acceptable. I've stayed at numerous Crowne Plaza hotels across different locations. The lobby staff at this particular hotel were good.
Room service was too slow. Guest services for in-room requests were also slow, possibly due to high occupancy, which is understandable. However, the guest service line went unanswered twice during the evening of my check-in, forcing me to call the concierge desk in the lobby instead.
Housekeeping: The overall cleanliness was good, but they were quite stingy. The tissue box only had a few tissues left and wasn't refilled after cleaning. I'm not sure if this is a cost-cutting measure, but it meant I had to call again to request more, which ironically wastes more staff time.
Facilities: I stayed in room 965. The toilet in the living room bathroom of suite 965 was clogged. Initially, I thought my child had clogged it, but after housekeeping unclogged it the next morning, I realized that no matter when it was used, even just flushing water, the toilet simply didn't drain properly. I'm not sure if the toilet is old or what the issue is, but it invariably clogs with any use. Even pouring juice in, you'd find it doesn't flush completely. So, it needs either repair or replacement.
The air conditioning in the living room worked somewhat normally, but the bedroom AC barely blew any air, as if it was blocked. Even set to the lowest temperature (16 degrees Celsius), the room temperature consistently stayed at 27 degrees and wouldn't cool down.
Booking and communication with guest services were not smooth: I had clearly stated a late evening check-in and requested an extra bed when booking. The hotel had explicitly confirmed that it would be arranged in advance that afternoon. However, upon arrival at the front desk, they had no record of this and only then started arranging it.
Furthermore, when adding the extra bed at the front desk, breakfast was also added for the extra person. But the next morning, we were turned away at the restaurant entrance because their system didn't show the additional guest. It was a hassle to go back and forth twice. The restaurant was already crowded in the morning, and being kept waiting outside was definitely frustrating. I don't blame the restaurant staff; they were just doing their job, but it was clear that even though breakfast had been added, it couldn't be found in their system, making the whole process very inefficient.
In summary, having stayed at many Crowne Plaza hotels in different locations, this particular Crowne Plaza really needs to step up its game.
On a positive note, the ocean view from the room was great.

Breakfast is incredibly rich and varied, and the location is fantastic – just a few minutes' walk to May Fourth Square, and right across the street from Qingdao's bustling MixC mall. Winni, the staff member who checked us in, had an exceptional service attitude; seeing that we had elderly family with us, she thoughtfully arranged a non-smoking room on a quiet floor. The hotel gym is also quite good. The only minor issue is that the underground parking is a bit like a maze, but the parking attendant was very kind.

Since our flight isn't until 11 PM tonight, they even extended our check-out by 4-6 hours when we left this afternoon. I forgot to ask for the front desk lady's name, so sorry about that, I'll ask next time! The cleaning staff is also incredibly diligent; they tidy up our room and replenish water bottles every afternoon. The housekeeper's name is Xu Qiuling. And is Wang Shufen the supervisor? Thank you all so much for making our May Day holiday experience so wonderful and cozy!

To my surprise, even though this hotel has been open for so long, it's still incredibly well-maintained. The front desk staff, Yawen, was super efficient in handling our check-in and addressing various issues throughout our stay. The hotel also has hot springs, which is very convenient, and offers a one-stop experience for activities like clam digging, horse riding, and general fun. Any time we needed something delivered to the room or had luggage-related questions, it was resolved instantly. I'm truly amazed by the management here; for a hotel with 700 rooms, to operate so efficiently during the May Day holiday is incredible. The room is beautiful. In the morning, opening the window in our sea view room felt like stepping into a Miyazaki anime, and at night, with the lights on, it was like being in Hogwarts Castle.
