"The food and accommodation were amazing! They even provide yukata (a casual kimono) to wear, and the onsen (hot spring) facilities are really special. Besides the regular hot springs, they also have mud masks and a hot mist sauna! The late-night ramen was delicious too! It was a great experience, absolutely no downsides except for the price, haha! 🤭"

"Standard Japanese-style room, but the entryway felt a bit small! They have an open-air bath on the rooftop, and also indoor and outdoor baths on the second floor, which were very comfortable. The breakfast was plentiful, and both dinner and breakfast included in our stay were absolutely delicious!"

"Great onsen ryokan experience! The private onsen was worth the extra cost. Places has free karaoke and ping pong, which need to be pre-booked, so get in early to book your spots. The buffet dinner and breakfast was sublime. I've never eaten so much and such good food before. No stomach is big enough. The private onsen is the highlight, but there are also different types of onsen's that can be tried. There is an indoor one, and a outdoor one, and family onsen's that can be booked. You'd never want to leave the place. Highly recommended."

"Really great place. It's located on a hill, so getting around without a car in this area would be difficult. The apartment itself is spacious, clean, and has a wonderful view. The bathroom is fantastic. The only downside is the disposable tableware. I really wished there was at least one proper glass and plate."

"To combine our trip with visits to Aso Kadori Zoo and Mount Aso, and to avoid a long drive early in the morning, we decided to stay overnight in Aso. It's a 2-minute drive from the zoo and a 20-minute drive from the volcano. We were fortunate enough to participate in the zoo's bear-cuddling activity. The hotel's parking lot was full, so we parked in the second parking area, about a 5-minute walk away. It's recommended to drop off your luggage at the hotel before parking, as the cobblestone streets and slight slopes make it difficult to push luggage around. The hotel has a distinctly Japanese feel, with a charming courtyard and fireplace outside. Note that the rooms do not have bathrooms; the bathroom mentioned in the booking information refers to the toilet. The same situation occurred in Yufuin. Therefore, showering is combined with bathing in the onsen (hot spring), and you need to book your private onsen time in advance with the front desk. It's free. Walking around is a little inconvenient, but there's not much to do in the evening, so it's perfect for those who enjoy soaking in the onsen. The hotel includes one night's stay with two meals. The service was excellent, and the young part-time staff were very attentive and tried their best to communicate with guests in English. Dinner was incredibly plentiful and delicious. Breakfast was also a feast. I tried horse meat sashimi for the first time here, and it was quite good. Aso Hostel offers excellent value for money; highly recommended!"

"It was a good experience if you wanna try the real Japanese style of accommodation. The location was a bit far, hence you definitely need a car to stay in this hotel. They also provide traditional breakfast. Overall, it was a good experience."

Kamenoi Hotel Aso Park Resort ★★★
"We were upgraded to a Kuromon themed room without realising it until we got to our rooms. At first we were not sure what to think of it but seeing the Kuromon cups and biscuits in the room we thought its quite a unique experience. The hotel has lots of amenities (2 public onsen areas to choose from and indoor waterpark) and is really family friendly. Breakfast was an absolute delight! Overall a good choice especially for families."

KAMENOI HOTEL ASO ★★★★
"It was a wonderful experience. The room was nice and it was a nice size and quite spacious for 2 luggages. Parking is free with lots of parking space . Knowing the hotel is remotely located, we included dinner & breakfast in our itinerary. It’s buffet style and was sumptuous and very well worth the extra paid. We booked the Kumamon themed room and loved our rooms The hot baths was also nice. It’s seperated into male and female baths. Check in and out was seamless. Overall a wonderful experience."
