"Aso Base is more than the usual backpackers hostel. I think it's like a boutique guesthouse. We spent an enjoyable 4 nights there. The owners are friendly and helpful. The facilities are spotless. The communal area downstairs has a well equipped kitchen and comfortable area for meals, reading etc. On the cold days we were there a log fire was made to warm us up! The bedrooms are comfortable and the communal showers/toilets are kept very clean. Adequate so never any waiting for a place. We also appreciated the discount tickets to the nearby Onsen. This is a great place at good value to stay in Aso."

We're well-known for our delicious hearth-side cooking, and four private hot spring baths!At the hotel, you can taste the delicious food made with seasonal ingredients, and the ingredients are all natural ingredients grown by yourself, delicious and nutritious.Free LAN access is available in every room. Bathrobes can be used during your stay. (Please consult the front desk for details). Facilities include a restaurant, a large bath and a ballroom. The property has 10 rooms. We look forward to your visit and we will be happy to help you.
"There is no problem with the hotel, everything is fine, and the owner is very enthusiastic! But when I made the reservation, it was not stated on the Internet that the hotel is a public toilet, so please don't book it if you mind! It's best to call Ctrip and help me deal with it immediately! Others are really good!"

You can get some free time 30 minutes before closing time.
People don't use it much in the morning.
Since there is no shower room in the room, you have to wait and go to the public bath.
The location is hard to get to without a car, but it was good."

"Very nice host and experienced guide of the Aso area. Welcomed us with snacks and recommendations for meals, even roasted sweet potatoes for us because we did not plan to use the outdoor barbecue. You get free coffee or tea every day. Would definitely stay again if visiting Aso. The room is nice and big."

"Even in midsummer, it was comfortable without a cooler. I only took a shower because the bath was ready. There is a hot spring nearby, so I think you should come in.
Breakfast was western food. It was delicious."

"Room was spacious but the bathroom was awkwardly small. There is NO hair conditioner in the bathroom. The fridge was so cold that the milk froze!
The mattress and pillow were so comfy, soft, and firm at the time. We slept very well and didn’t want to leave the bed!"

The old Win Hotel is said to have been open for 90 years
Although it is a shared toilet, there are several that don't bother at all.
There are a few rooms so it won’t be as crowded as the hot springs in the big hotel
The tatami quilt is super comfortable
And the beautiful courtyard view outside the window
The boss daughter is fluent in English, don't worry about communication
About ten minutes walk from the center of Azu
