Business hotel "HONG TU" Almaty

"It is a hotel situated along the main road which is always busy. It feels rather like a motel or inn than a hotel. The food given in the morning its more chinese style as they catered largely for chinese travellers. The plus point is that it allows late check out until 2 pm. The negative point is that the cleaners just barged in even while we are in the room. Practice is that they should have knocked first. A solution for the cleaner to prevent them from barging in. But that there is no card to hang on the door knob to indicate if you want to room to be cleaned or not."

"The elevator was not working you basically have to use the stairs to go to the first floor. The wifi was slow and they did not have hot running water in our room. Pro: good price and good location"

Grand Mildom Hotel

"Grifters preying on Chinese tourists. Did not honor free cancelation policy. Quite strategic and deliberate about it too, as if they do it all the time. Perhaps should be hit with a huge class action, but they know foreign tourists won't have the bandwidth. One front desk worker quite friendly, the other two not. Service not a strong suit for all but one staff, but that's not out of the ordinary in KZ. Quite noisy for a hotel trying to sell itself as upscale. Room cleanliness comparable to one-star operations in the US and Europe. Don't book here unless you need to be across the street from Dostyk Plaza for some reason."
