In the case of generally expensive and low cost-effective hotels in Almaty, this is a very cost-effective homestay!
The mountain is a wealthy area, and the air is good.
The boss and his wife are very polite, and the breakfast is freshly made and prepared very considerately.
After a tiring day at work, it is very comfortable to come back and sit in the yard to relax.
I took a few photos of the dining area!

I stayed for five nights.
The room had a classic (some might say old) Soviet-era feel, which might be a matter of taste, but I found it very relaxing. There was a slight odor at first, likely from the building materials, but it was easily resolved by using the ventilation.
The hotel staff were very kind and friendly. Some even spoke basic English.
On the first day, they gave me a free 1-liter bottle of water. I also dropped a towel near the front desk, but they kindly washed and returned it the next day.
The lobby had the latest edition of ”The World's Guide to Central Asian Countries,” which isn't currently published in Japan, which was incredibly helpful!
The surrounding area has beautiful streetscapes and is very quiet as it's not on a main street.
There's no elevator, so be aware of that. Also, it takes a while for the hot water to come on. According to the hotel staff, it takes 5 minutes... and indeed, it does come on if you wait a bit! The shower pressure is also a bit weak.
It's old, but reasonably priced, and I liked it. If I ever go to Almaty again, I would like to stay here again.

Guest UserAlmaty is our starting point for world travels, and we always stay at the Tahar Hotel whenever we're in Almaty. There are many positives:
1) It's within walking distance of Almaty-2 railway station, which is important for us as we arrive by train.
2) The location in the city center is excellent. It's close to major attractions and metro stations. There are plenty of currency exchange offices, cafes, and a Magnum supermarket right next door.
3) Flexible check-in. This is a fantastic option and quite rare! The 24-hour period starts from your check-in time, so whether we arrive at 6 AM or 10 PM, we can check in immediately and have the room for 24 hours. This is super convenient for travelers!
4) The room has everything needed for a short stay: a TV, refrigerator, kettle, dining utensils, and toiletries.
5) The rooms have been recently renovated. We stayed before the renovation, and the difference is significant.
6) Friendly staff. They are always helpful and offer advice. Thank you, ladies!
Of course, there are some minor downsides, but for us, they are negligible and can be overlooked.
We recommend Tahar Hotel for short stays!

INESSA KIBENKOWell, I want to warn the future guys who will choose this hotel. Staff is wonderful, delicious ladies on the recession, but on that the pluses of this playground end. On the pictures you see a big window and in fact the whole hotel is in the basement. That is, the window is of course there, but it comes out to a cramped minus the first floor. I rented this house for a week. And cleaned up in my room exactly once. Because the room is in the basement in the room constant humidity and moisture. The same hearing in this place of accommodation is maximum, if your neighbors chew or snort, you will hear it) The entrance door in the room was banally closed and we together with the beautiful ladies with the respiratory constantly tried to close it in 4 hands. The location is certainly beautiful, but when I saw a room that was completely unsuitable to the photos of the placement, I decided to return the money, but alas, I was refused. And I had to spend a week with every kind of moshkar who likes the basement so much rooms. I will repeat, staff is excellent. But everything else is simply banally unsuitable for adequate life for more than a day.

The facilities are quite old and the room was cleaned according to your request. There was no free water in the room, only towels, soap, and toothbrushes, but no comb. The air conditioner was available, but the facilities were very old. There was no breakfast, so I had to eat at the local buffet restaurant next door.
