"This time, I booked the KK Dome Desert Homestay through Trip.com for a parent-child educational trip with my child, and the experience far exceeded my expectations. The room was exceptionally clean; it's rare to find almost no dust in the desert. The bathroom and bedding were all neatly maintained. The owner was incredibly warm and genuine, and patient throughout our stay. The most satisfying aspect was the hotel's rich activity schedule. During the day, professional instructors led desert educational activities, teaching children how to make straw checkerboards, identify desert vegetation and landforms, and explaining desertification control knowledge in a practical way, not just dry lectures. The kids listened very attentively. We also rode camels, sand-boarded, and went on desert off-road vehicles during the day. In the evening, there were bonfire parties, fireworks shows, and then a stargazing class where everyone learned to identify the Milky Way and constellations. The entire day was packed with activities. My child had a blast and learned a lot, and as parents, we didn't have to worry about planning anything. Additionally, Trip.com customer service was very reliable; they responded promptly to all our inquiries before and after booking and handled everything smoothly. Choosing this place for a trip with kids to Zhongwei was definitely the right decision."

"Although the desert cabins are not large, they are well-equipped and spotlessly clean, and the owner provides attentive and thoughtful service. We stayed for two nights, and the owner was exceptionally warm and welcoming, even offering free pick-up and drop-off from the station. The camp activities were also fantastic: bonfires, romantic fireworks, stargazing education, and desert trekking were all included. We had two amazing days playing in the desert, and the experience was absolutely perfect!"

"Overall, it was decent, I guess, considering it's in the desert and conditions are limited, so you can't expect too much. Stepping out, you're literally in the sand, and any small dune is perfect for sandboarding. The restaurant offered good meals for all three sittings, with options for à la carte or hot pot buffet. While the choices weren't extensive, it was fine for a two-day stay; I felt like I'd get tired of the food if I stayed longer. Also, paid desert activities like dune buggy rides and camel riding were more expensive here than at the nearby Tonghu Grassland scenic area. If you plan on doing paid activities, I'd suggest doing them at the scenic area first, then staying in the desert to enjoy free activities like sandboarding, hiking, and stargazing. I highly recommend stargazing; it's beautiful even with the naked eye. Finally, I booked this hotel mainly for the pool and professional astronomical telescope. The desert gets too hot in the afternoon, so besides swimming, you're pretty much stuck in your room with the AC on. There weren't many activities available here, and they said all the activity materials were out of stock. Well... on our first day, the water was too dirty to swim in. They did change the water on the second day, but it took all day, and by evening, the water still hadn't reached knee-level. Our child went in to splash around for a bit and said it was cold. When I touched it, I realized the water was ice-cold, like mountain spring water. We quickly took him back for a hot shower, fearing he'd catch a cold. Then, during stargazing that night, we found out the astronomical telescope was also broken, so we could only stargaze with our naked eyes... I'd just say it was a less-than-perfect desert trip."

"This hotel is a great choice if you are looking for an immersive experience in the desert! The hotel staff is very efficient and helped us order taxis, and upgadred us for free in order to have access to air conditioning, which thoroughly improved our stay. They also provide a wide range of activities in order to explore the desert, and a restaurant is available with a variety of choices. Overall, we would recommend this hotel and will definitely come back on our next trip to China!"
