Watching the Milky Way from inside a desert tent was an amazing experience! We played in the sand and went sandboarding during the day, and enjoyed a bonfire and fireworks display at night – the atmosphere was incredible. The owner was very punctual with pick-up and drop-off, and the ability to shower in the desert was a pleasant surprise. The photos were amazing, I'll definitely come back!

Our butler arranged our itinerary in advance: early morning desert hiking to identify plants, camel riding across dunes in the morning, thrilling dune buggy rides in the afternoon, and a bonfire party and stargazing lecture in the evening. The biggest surprise was that they secretly arranged a desert candlelight dinner for our wedding anniversary – rose petals, champagne, exclusive service, so romantic it brought tears to our eyes. I absolutely loved this place! I’m writing this as a foreigner who went with 4 other foreigners for a special birthday weekend. First, the service. We have good Chinese proficiency, but those with limited to none will be fine. Most of the communication and coordination is handled via WeChat - which can auto translate. 东 “Dong” was our main contact. He rocked and gave us a real experience. He shuttled us in the sand jeep, gifted me a cake for my birthday, and was just an overall cool guy. Thanks! Second, the location and accommodations. If you stay near Desert Star, there’s a lot of people and campsites - that area seems like a bit of a tourist funnel. This area is located in the REAL sand dunes area. Further North, you actually cross into Inner Mongolia. The separation and distance is worth it. Makes for brighter stars and a more authentic experience. Third, the food. They were able to coordinate a whole lamb to be roasted for my birthday. It was absolutely extraordinary. The sides for it were some of the best I had on the entire trip - they have some skilled chefs there. This place has great reviews, and it’s worth it. I do recommend this to foreigners, and I hope I can return one day.

I stayed in an air-conditioned cabin without a private bathroom this time. It was cleaner than I expected. I'd recommend bringing a pair of flip-flops for the shared showers. Other amenities like toothbrushes and towels were disposable, which was great. Getting a taxi was difficult, but the host was incredibly thoughtful and came to pick us up. There was a bonfire party in the evening, and they set off fireworks like there was no tomorrow! Watching the stars and fireworks in the desert was absolutely beautiful!
