Hotels in Yu Garden Area, Shanghai

Had to change my room twice, first due to a strong cigarette smell emanating from the showers (cigarette buds stubbed in the drain) and another due to a strong urine smell. The staff were courteous throughout the stay and provided timely assistance. I was given an upgraded room on my second room change, which had no smells. The staff were very helpful and helped my group of friends with the parcels and provided updates on any food deliveries that reached the hotel. I would like to commend the two staff that have helped make my stay more pleasant. 以墨 言初 worked tirelessly to ensure that our rooms are clean and our parcels delivered.

Perfect location, very convenient and walking distance to train station. Lots of restaurants nearby with nice food. Very friendly service from the hotel reception and it's a pleasant stay and experience in Shanghai.

Was there for 3 nights with my friends. We can’t find a review of this place online especially from Thai tourist but fine, we want to take a risk. It was an absolutely amazing place to stay! Room is new and they offer daily cleaning plus 2 bottles of water every day (mini bar on the first day is free) and one thing that I love is they provide a common area like dining area on floor! Plus, on the ground there are coffee shop, salon, gym, family mart and McDonald. But the thing is it took me only 1 minute to subway Laoximen station (exit 1) which very convenient to travel to the bund, Shanghai disneyland, it’s super convenient traveling by taxi and it take less than 10 mins walk to Xintiandi, my favourite area! We would love to stay here again next time.

The hotel itself is not big, with a total of 30 rooms. There are construction sites around the hotel, and the ground is big on windy days, but it is not noisy. The hotel is 8-10 minutes' walk from Yuyuan Station on Line 10. The road is basically surrounded by construction site fences and the ground is big. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to Dashijie Station. There are some old brands along the way (Xian De Lai, Xiao Jinling, De Da Western Restaurant). There is a Baiyun Temple next to the hotel. It is not big. If you are interested, you can go and have a look. As for the room facilities, the area is large enough, there are sofas, desks, and cloakrooms, but the office chair cannot be raised or lowered. It is a bit uncomfortable to work for a long time. The bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas, and the bathroom brands are all Duravit. It can be felt that the hotel wants to go the high-end route, but the details need to be improved. For example, the toilet should be smart, but I didn’t understand how to use the remote control after studying for a long time. I don’t know if the remote control is not paired with the toilet. Anyway, it doesn’t respond to anything I press. There is no problem with the shower facilities, but there is an occasional problem of sewer odor. The hotel breakfast is semi-buffet, which is remarkable. Although it is not as rich as that of star-rated hotels, it is enough to eat. The staple food and eggs on the menu are not bad. Finally, let's talk about the problems: 1. After staying for three nights, there were two times when the cleaning staff opened the door and entered the room by themselves when there were people in the room. Another time, it happened that someone was using the bathroom, which made me feel very unprofessional. I was even a little angry. 2. I am not sure when the hotel will clean the room. One day I went out at 10 o'clock and returned to the hotel at 3 o'clock in the afternoon, and the room was not cleaned yet. Do guests have to click ”clean now”? This is a problem that I have never encountered when staying in other star-rated hotels. 3. After checking out, on the way to the airport, the hotel called and said that I had consumed a bottle of white wine. I said on the phone that there was no white wine or red wine in the room and asked them to confirm it again. The front desk immediately apologized and said to confirm it again. This is a bit uncomfortable and feels questioned. It also shows that the hotel management is a bit chaotic. The above is all I can think of at the moment. I will probably not stay again.

Spacious apartment located directly above a metro station. Easy access to many of the major tourist sights. Helpful staff and clean facilities.

The location is superb, very near to the Bund and can get to the Bund by foot or by bicycle. Also very near to the train station within walking distance! There are food available at the immediate vicinity. They also have free washing machines and dryer, although it could be crowded. Very good stay although there is a dripping tap in our shower that was dripping throughout our stay, seems like the housekeeping crew didn’t notice even though it was dripping quite loudly. But also lastly, there is no sushi (food) in this hotel🤣

Very good service by staff, with delicious daily breakfast provided. Location is near Yu Garden (7.5 min walk) and The Bund (10min walk) with bus stops and metro nearby (10min walk). It's located within a residential area, thus not very convenient for late night snacks/walks. The room comes with a large balcony for a city view on the 3rd floor, but it faces a busy main road, vehicle noise is expected late into the night. Room amenities are slightly dated, but the warm service makes up for it.

Great location, in the heart of the lovely neighborhood close to Yu Garden. lovely people, clean too. Would recommend!

The staff is nice and supportive. They create a warm welcome when you enter the entrance.  There are a breakfast can be included in the second floor and also the laundry room for free. there is a shuttle bus for,which can deliver you to the city. Overall is a nice day at Mercury Hotel in Shanghai, which we love

Located next to Yu Garden. Old hotel, a little worn but rooms are comfortable, although there were a bit of cigarette smell. AC wasn't working very well but overall a comfortable stay. Breakfast was so so, service was great.
