Pleasantly clean, but the good impression was spoiled by cigarette smoke blown out of the air con from time to time. Admittedly, we were very kindly offered a change of room. The problem of guests breaking the rules and smoking should not affect all the other guests’ air con, though: this indicates a major fault in the hotel’s entire air conditioning system, which ought to be addressed. - - - It was great to have a park right opposite, with some outdoor gym equipment. - - - The staff were responsive and polite, but unsmiling and diffident. - - - It was good to have a nice range of breakfast options, both Chinese and Western, and I particularly enjoyed the availability of sourdough bread (rare in China). - - - We also enjoyed the close proximity of the Bund, which is within walking distance.

Heard a lot of good things about Atour, I can now confirm it is really good!
The beds are very comfortable.
The front office is helpful, although none of the staff members spoke English, they had a translating device that worked really well.
Room comes with amenities such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, water bottles, tea, slippers.
I enjoyed breakfast a lot (mostly savory options as we are in Asia)
Hotel is conveniently located 2 minutes from entrance 5 of the metro.
All in all, perfect stay. Hotel is in perfect condition!

From the moment we arrived, the experience at this hotel was nothing short of amazing. One of the staff specially took us to explore the different types of room so we can decide which room type to take which we really appreciate!! The location is so accessible!!We can reach the main tourist attractions like Xintiandi, Yuyuan and Nanjing road within 10 mins by their cab Didi and costs less than USD$3 only and the pick up and drop off point is just in front of the hotel which is so easy for us!!They even offer free popcorn and drinks and amenities like travel sunblock cream, soap, floss, body cream throughout our stay!!All of the staff were exceptionally warm, attentive, and professional — always greeting us with genuine smiles and going out of their way to make sure we were comfortable such as helping us to book ******* delivery and helping us to collect our taobao parcels.
Our room was spotless clean, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully prepared such as the toilet seat with a warm function. Every detail, from the amenities to the housekeeping, reflected the hotel’s high standards and care for guests.
Special mention to the front desk team— their friendliness and helpful recommendations truly made our stay even more enjoyable.
We felt so well taken care of throughout our stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, excellent service, highly accessible location and affordable pricing. the price of each night is only usd $70!!!!you cannot find this kind of highly rated hotel with this pricing in Shanghai!!Can’t wait to return again soon! Highly recommend!!

Staying here is like stepping into old Shanghai's rich history and culture. The lobby displays photos of famous figures like Bing Xin, Lu Xun, and Liu Changchun, who either lived or visited here. Walking through the hotel corridors, I saw a smiling photo of Madame Soong Mei-ling, and in the gym, a picture of young athletes from 1919. It truly felt like a historical journey through this bustling city. The hotel's architecture beautifully blends Chinese and Western styles, the rooms are spacious and modern, the service is impeccable, and the location is incredibly convenient. I'll definitely be back!

⭐️ 5/5 – A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Shanghai!
Riverdale Residence Xintiandi is an absolute delight. It’s the perfect blend of convenience and tranquility. Its location is unbeatable: just a short walk to major attractions like Xintiandi, Huaihai Road, and the French Concession, yet tucked away from noisy boulevards, making it feel like a peaceful retreat.
The executive studio was spacious, modern, and impeccably clean! I loved the well-equipped kitchenette (great for light meals) and the in-room washing machine, which made longer stays effortless. The AC was a lifesaver in Shanghai’s heat, and I appreciated the strict no-smoking policy (no lingering smells anywhere!🤩).
What truly stood out was the thoughtful layout, smart storage, a comfortable workspace, and a nice bathroom. Housekeeping was consistent and thorough, and the staff were helpful without being intrusive.
Final verdict? I’d happily stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a central yet serene home base in Shanghai. 10/10!

I booked the executive room but it wasn’t ready until 4:15 on the Saturday I arrived. They asked me to wait in a business lounge but there’s no food or drink there and no music. How about voucher for a snack or drink? The TV is really outdated and there’s no smart TV function. The lampshades were crooked and shabby room overall without any toothbrushes or anything no minibar. The breakfast area has a nice balcony but they don’t let you sit there and they put chairs blocking off places to sit too. The offerings were small but then after you get a plate of bread they show you the breakfast menu. They could put a sign in the hallway to guide guests to the breakfast area and inform guests how it works. The bedroom air conditioner was so noisy that it gave me a headache. There’s little posted information about the gym, pool, food and beverage or anything in the hotel. I used to do hotel management so wanted to point some of these things out. For a similar price better to try other options.

We had a great time in this hotel. It is close relatively close to the city center and a straight line to The Bund, which was great. Nearby you have supermarket, restaurants, bank, everything you need. I want to highlight the service of this hotel. Although they didn't speak english, everything worked out smoothly with the translator app. One evening we wanted to order food but our Alipay was not working. A colleague of the hotel, nice girl, kindly requested food for us. There's also a laundry room, which was super convenient to wash and dry clothes. There's also a nice seating area which I used to read a bit and relax.

The desk was very kind and helpful, for any request, like coins for the laundry 🧺, or keycard to access room.
But their ability to speak English is very poor, only 1.5 out 6-10 employees are able to speak some English.
The facility lack any accessibility for wheel chair, kids trolley, they have cribs and that is very helpful and good, but not always available, get confirmation from the facility first.
The ladies that work on cleaning the room is very gentle, helpful and respectful.
But unluckily I found one big bedbug on my bed last night of my stay, it was as long as basmati rice grain.
Flat and wide, very scary to discover.
Not sure where it come from, but luckily we have not been bitten.
The breakfast is good and vary, it's possible to have fresh omelette, wanton soup and rice spaghetti in broth.
Plates often missing and the personal are kind of sleepy but overrall they are helpful and friendly.
There are only two elevators and from time to time waiting take long to arrive on your floor.
Location is very close to the bund, temples, yuyuan garden, malls, Museum and shopping streets, and metro station that could easily reach train station for Suzhou, most attraction and Museum, opera/ theathers.
The bund is overcrowded in the night avoid taking taxi from or to it, cause you will be stuck in traffic, try always to go on or drop off close to it but not next to it.
You may waiting 10-20 minutes just to be able to drop off your cab or car ride or just move few meters every 5 minutes 😵💫

The room didn't quite live up to a 'business queen room' description; the space around the bed head was so narrow that only one person could pass sideways. Still, for a solo traveler, it was perfectly adequate and felt quite secure. The rooms on this floor were quite distinctive. My friend stayed in a duplex room, though they noted the ceiling was a bit low. It was very clean, although the soundproofing was a bit thin. If you don't mind that, it's a decent choice. The front desk staff were excellent, and they even extended our check-out time for us. The subway station is just a two-minute walk away, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. Plus, there are plenty of dining options right around the corner, including Da Hu Chun. Overall, it's a good pick.

I recently stayed at this hotel, and I was very pleased with my experience overall. The rooms were spotless, and the housekeeping staff did a fantastic job. The location was also quite convenient, with easy access to the train and just a short ride from interesting areas. Plus, it was in a good spot for exploring the city. I would definitely recommend it!

Perfect
GGuest UserThe experience is very good. You can reach Wutong District when you go out. It is in the city center. Next to it is Sinan Mansion and the former residence of Dr. Sun Yat-sen. The subway station is also very close, about 10 minutes' walk. It is very convenient to go anywhere. There are two large beds, a sofa and a projector, which are very comfortable. The community is full of former residences of celebrities and has a strong cultural atmosphere. The housekeeper Andy said that this is a typical Shanghai-style building, which is indeed very distinctive. The red brick exterior wall is very beautiful, and the interior decoration is also in the style of the Republic of China. The housekeeper is very nice, the service is thoughtful, and the reply is very fast. It will be my first choice next time I come to play. Recommended!

GGuest UserThe room was more spacious than I'd imagined, and the view from the window was quite nice, with Jing'an Temple visible in the distance. The walk-through area in the room was just wide enough to open a suitcase, leaving little extra space, but it was perfectly fine for a solo trip.
Soundproofing in the room wasn't great; noises from outside the door were quite clear (though this is a common drawback of hostels). This might be an issue for light sleepers.
Transportation is incredibly convenient, as it's only about a three-minute walk from the subway station, which really helps save on travel expenses.
**Cleanliness:** The shared bathrooms were exceptionally clean; an attendant would clean them immediately after each use, which was very reassuring.
**Service:** Upon arrival, a staff member showed me to my room and introduced the facilities. The lobby offered quite a few amenities; I recall there was an ice machine, and I even borrowed an umbrella from the front desk when it rained during my stay.
Overall, I was very satisfied and would happily choose to stay here again on my next visit to Shanghai.

MM471319****Our room on the 3rd floor offered a lovely view of beautiful plane trees. It felt far more personal and cozy, truly a home away from home, especially compared to staying in a towering high-rise building. The staff were incredibly thoughtful; Ms. Xie, in particular, was exceptionally helpful. Knowing I was traveling with a child, she kindly adjusted my booking to an earlier date (as I had mistakenly booked the wrong one myself). Her assistance truly made our trip to Shanghai go smoothly and enjoyably!
The restaurant had a delightful ambiance and served delicious food. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the convenient laundry facilities were a big plus.
The surrounding neighborhood was another wonderful surprise. Every time we explored, even just walking back, we’d serendipitously discover something new and charming.

Nnissa2026The boss is very nice and enthusiastic! The sanitation is very good and the environment is very comfortable. The house is also very unique. The windows are classic steel windows, and you can see the road and the sycamore trees. The location is excellent and it is close to Urumqi Road, Anfu Road and Huaihai Middle Road. Highly recommended.

GGuest UserStaying at this B&B was an unexpected delight. I usually don't opt for B&Bs or apartments, and having booked this room in a hurry, I didn't have high expectations initially. However, the B&B's location is absolutely fantastic! In this prime area where space is at a premium, what truly stands out is the room size. Compared to most hotels in the same location and price range, the room was remarkably spacious. The B&B comes equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and even a washing machine – amenities that are incredibly convenient for someone like me who dislikes rushing through their trips. It was spotlessly clean, with no unpleasant odors, and the service was also very attentive. All in all, it truly felt like a home away from home. Highly recommend!

Cchuach****The location was absolutely fantastic! We stayed for two days and could easily accomplish all our city sightseeing. The Japanese-style decor, complete with a charming small courtyard, was incredibly relaxing. Step right outside, and you're in the heart of the vibrant Jufuchang area, with an endless selection of restaurants, bars, and cafes to discover. The location truly couldn't be more perfect. The bedding was spotless. We'll definitely be back!

GGuest UserThe price is cheap and the expectations are not high, but I didn't expect the king-size room to be in such an environment. The sound insulation is very poor, and the footsteps outside can be clearly heard. At more than seven in the morning, the construction workers were communicating outside, and I was woken up and couldn't sleep.
The multi-person berth is on the first floor outside, and it won't pass here, which may be better than this.
The door of the king-size room is right under these scaffoldings, and I have been considering it carefully recently.
