"The hotel itself isn't bad; the staff are responsive and friendly. The breakfast is so-so, with no choices given – you just get what they bring. However, whatever you do, *do not* book the budget room. It's something else entirely – located in the basement, no window, no ventilation or air conditioning. You feel like you're descending into a cellar, and you'll hit your head on the way down. The toilet and shower are shared among several rooms, and it's right next to the boiler room. Charging $28 for something like that is daylight robbery; I wouldn't even take it for free. I ended up paying an extra 600,000 UZS (about $25 per day) to upgrade to a standard room for two days. After that, I moved to a neighboring hotel, 260 meters away, where a standard single room with a buffet breakfast and en-suite facilities was $30 per night. Then I moved to the Hotel Uzbekistan for $40 a night for a standard single room with private facilities. The hotel's location is decent, about 1km from the metro and surrounded by lots of cafes."
