Wharney Hotel

The location is excellent for travelers who prefer commuting by walking, bus or tram rather than relying on the MTR. Situated in Wan Chai, the hotel is surrounded by plenty of restaurants and cafés, and it offers convenient access to nearby areas such as Central, Causeway Bay, and other parts of Hong Kong. One of the biggest advantages is the easy access to the A11 airport bus, making travel to and from the airport simple without the need to take the Airport Express. The room is spacious, well-equipped with all the essential amenities, and features a comfortable bed and a practical work desk, making it suitable for both leisure and business travelers.

💡 **Unbeatable Location:** 📍 378 Nathan Road, Yau Ma Tei 🚇 4-6 min walk from Jordan Station Exit B1, 5 min walk to Yau Ma Tei Station. ✈️ A21 Airport Bus stops right outside, super convenient for airport transfers. Just one metro stop to Mong Kok! So much fun shopping at Sneaker Street!~ 🌃 **Food & Fun Nearby:** ▪️ Temple Street Night Market ➡️ 3-min walk ▪️ Tsim Sha Tsui / Avenue of Stars ➡️ 1 metro stop ▪️ 7-Eleven + Cha Chaan Teng + Starbucks right downstairs One-stop shop for late-night snacks and morning tea! A true paradise for night owls!✨ 🛏️ **Room Experience:** The two beds are spacious enough (which is impressive for Hong Kong! 😭) ✔️ Converter plug + toiletries provided ✔️ 90% cleanliness (small suggestion: dehumidification could be improved) ✔️ Front desk staff are super nice and luggage storage is free! ⚠️ **Heads-up Tips:** 1️⃣ Some room types have a musty smell, suggest choosing higher floors. 2️⃣ Room downgrades are common during peak season, confirm your room type in advance. 3️⃣ Soundproofing is average, light sleepers should bring earplugs. Overall, excellent value for money! Especially suitable for: 🔸 Explorers (all attractions within walking distance) 🔸 Foodies (tons of popular eateries downstairs) 🔸 Transit passengers (direct airport bus) Hong Kong hotels are generally expensive with small rooms, this one is truly a gem in the industry! 👏 The only minor flaw, which the hotel should address, is that the pillows are really uncomfortable.

Two MacDonnell Road

My stay at Two MacDonnell Road definitely lived up to its reputation. Located in Mid-Levels, it's an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle; it was incredibly quiet at night, with no city noise from Central at all, allowing for a very comfortable sleep. The room was much more spacious than most Hong Kong hotels, laid out like an apartment with a small living area and a basic kitchenette. There was plenty of space to spread out my luggage, making for a very relaxing stay. The view was a definite highlight. From a high floor, the expansive city and greenery views were stunning, both day and night. The staff were also polite. However, there were clear downsides: transportation isn't very convenient. It's a bit of a distance from the MTR station, so getting around mainly relied on taxis or the shuttle bus, which could be a bit troublesome when returning at night. The soundproofing was also quite poor. Overall, it's a great choice for those seeking peace and quiet, comfortable accommodation, and who aren't planning to rush through tourist sites every day. It's well-suited for business trips or short stays of a few days. If extreme convenience is your top priority, you might want to reconsider.

WAKE Concept Hotel

I had a wonderful stay at WAKE Concept Hotel during my recent trip to Hong Kong. The location is excellent, just a short walk from Yau Ma Tei MTR Station, making it very convenient to explore the city, visit attractions, and find local restaurants nearby. The hotel has a modern and stylish design, and the room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Although the room size is compact, which is common in Hong Kong, the layout is efficient and provides everything needed for a pleasant stay. The bed was comfortable, and the amenities were good. The staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the overall service exceeded my expectations. For travelers looking for a clean, convenient, and good-value hotel in a central location, WAKE Concept Hotel is an excellent choice. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Hong Kong.

This hotel is located in Tuen Mun. It's very convenient, taking about 30 minutes on the A33X bus directly, with no transfers needed. The room had everything we needed. The lobby is spacious, and even late at night, there were young people gathering, giving it a trendy vibe that I really liked.

South Nest was surprisingly good. Tucked away in a neat little area at the backside of Hong Kong but easily accessible from downtown by public transportation. The area is nice and offers some good local food options and there are a few art galleries nearby. Staff are friendly and quick and the rooms are not big but are actually quite perfect if you don't need extra space. The large window and the view are also nice, and the common area is cozy and clean.

Pros: 1. It's very close to the tram station and bus stop, and there's a supermarket and department store just across the street. The street with the bus stop also has many restaurants. (The Wellcome supermarket has very cheap water). The hotel provided a kettle, but I didn't dare drink the water (even though they said it was filtered), so I had to buy my own. 2. It's quiet, meaning the street side is peaceful. The bed is soft and the pillows are comfortable. The bathroom is very large with separate wet and dry zones. 3. The air conditioning works well and is stable. The hot and cold water in the bathroom is incredibly stable; it gets hot very quickly and stays hot for a long time. Cons: 1. The hotel is undergoing renovation, which is expected to be completed by the end of August 2026. However, I didn't hear any noise during my stay. Perhaps the floor I was on wasn't being renovated. (The staff did show me a warning sign about this before check-in). 2. You need to prepare HKD 500 for the deposit (room guarantee), which is refunded at check-out (you need to present the receipt). It didn't take long to get it back. 3. I booked a non-smoking room, but it still smelled of smoke. Maybe the smell wasn't completely eliminated. 4. The soundproofing within the hotel rooms isn't great, but it's not terrible either. You might occasionally hear things clearly.

Venetian Hostel

Wow, I was really impressed by the thoughtful touches the moment I walked in! For a central Hong Kong location, this hostel offers pretty good value for money. I did my homework before coming (once in Spain, I didn't plan ahead and almost got pickpocketed!). While Hong Kong's streets and alleys are narrow and prices are high, the experience here is much better than the guesthouses I stayed at in Korea and Japan. I can even say this in my (bad) Cantonese – I'm a huge TVB fan! The transportation is super convenient; just take the elevator from Tsim Sha Tsui Exit D1 directly to the 13th floor, and the front desk is right there (it's very noticeable, and the chubby guy at the front desk is quite cute). I carefully checked my booking details before arriving and contacted the hostel 48 hours in advance, so the self-check-in process was incredibly smooth and easy. The building itself is a very typical Hong Kong commercial-residential building, making you feel like you're on a TVB set – it has so much character! I'd definitely come back again if I have the chance! The only minor regret is that the Mixue Ice Cream & Tea (bubble tea shop) across the street closed down, and other bubble tea places are a bit pricey – Hong Kong is quite expensive, haha. Highly recommend!

The room was at the end of the hall and larger than I expected. The hotel is close to the sea with a private beach and a swimming pool. The views from the hotel are great, perfect for a vacation. Transportation isn't very convenient, but there's a shuttle bus to the subway station. The facilities are quite old but generally clean, though the hygiene could still be improved.

I really enjoyed my stay here! It was especially cool for me to stay in this particular building because it's where the famous movie 'Chungking Express' was filmed. That alone makes the place special and gives it a unique vibe. The room was clean, cozy, and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The air conditioning worked perfectly and kept the room cool, which was especially important in the hot and humid weather. I also want to give a special shout-out to the host. He was very welcoming, friendly, and always ready to help. Check-in was quick, and I was even able to check in earlier than the set time.
