Traveller's Hostel

I want to go there once for the price-performance ratio.

The hostel is located in a 16-story high-rise building with dozens of hostels and guesthouses spread across the floors. Accordingly, especially during peak times, expect some waiting time for the elevator and long lines for the ascent (there is one elevator for even-numbered floors and one for odd-numbered floors). Upon arrival, I was charged HK$75 in taxes and fees on top of the prepaid booking price, five times the HK$14.85 stated in the booking. As a result, I was assigned a twin room instead of the booked four-bed dormitory – probably due to an occupancy error. The room was, as expected, very small, but well-ventilated thanks to the air conditioning. It had a window with a city view of the neighboring high-rises, which could be closed with curtains. Bed linen and towels were changed daily. There were two small safes in the room for storing valuables, one of which worked. Overall, the room seemed clean. There was a tiny bathroom with a sink, a toilet seat, and a shower above/next to the toilet for all rooms on the corridor side. However, except for one occasion, I didn't have to wait too long for the bathroom to be free, although patience is required during peak times. Sometimes the toilet was clean, sometimes it was dirty from the previous user – of course, the facility's owner can't be held responsible for this kind of guest behavior. Drinking water dispensers are available in the entrance area of the accommodation. Since there is no proper common area (at least a table and two chairs next to the reception desk), you shouldn't expect to have any conversations with other hostel guests – apart from those staying in your own room – as is often the case in other backpacker hostels. Overall, a decent place to stay; you can't expect more in Hong Kong for a comparatively low price.
