We had a very nice 4 day stay at this hotel, where the floor staff, Zheng Jing郑静，and Ye Guangzhu叶光珠, provided consistently attentive service. Whenever we requested additional water bottles or fresh towels, they were delivered to my room almost immediately. The hotel is one of the most well known 5 Star hotels in Hangzhou, though older, offers a modern and stylish ambiance. The food delivery robots always delighted the children. This hotel is extraordinary in terms of cost effectiveness. The location is also excellent.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale Hangzhou recently, and my experience exceeded all expectations. Whether you are traveling for business or leisure, this hotel offers an outstanding combination of comfort, convenience, and exceptional service. Situated just a few minutes' walk from the famous West Lake, it is incredibly convenient for those wanting to explore one of China’s most scenic attractions. The proximity to West Lake makes it easy to take early morning or evening walks along the picturesque waterfront, which I found very calming. Additionally, the hotel is close to several popular shopping streets, including Hubin Road, where you can find both luxury brands and local shops. There are also plenty of restaurants and cafés nearby, giving guests many dining options beyond the hotel itself. 2. Warm and Efficient Check-in Process From the moment I entered the hotel, I was greeted warmly by the staff. The lobby is spacious, elegant, and well-lit, giving off a luxurious yet comfortable vibe. Check-in was smooth and quick, with the front desk staff offering a welcome drink upon arrival. I appreciated their professionalism—they spoke fluent English and were well-prepared to answer all my questions about nearby attractions and transportation options. One thing that stood out was their attentiveness; they noticed I had traveled a long way and offered to expedite my check-in, which was a thoughtful touch. 3. Spacious and Well-Appointed Rooms The room I stayed in was a deluxe double with a partial view of West Lake. It was spacious, beautifully decorated, and had all the modern amenities I needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable, with plush pillows and high-quality linens that made it hard to get up in the morning! The room also had a large flat-screen TV, a work desk, and a cozy seating area by the window. The view from my room, although not directly facing the lake, still offered a lovely glimpse of the surrounding cityscape and greenery. One feature I particularly appreciated was the bathroom, which was clean, modern, and well-equipped with both a bathtub and a rainfall shower. The hotel provided premium toiletries and fluffy towels, which added a touch of luxury to the experience. The housekeeping service was impeccable—my room was always spotless, and they replenished water bottles and amenities daily without me needing to ask. 4. Dining – A Great Variety of Options The dining experience at the Wyndham Grand Plaza Royale Hangzhou was truly impressive. The hotel’s main restaurant offers a large breakfast buffet that caters to both Western and Chinese tastes. I enjoyed starting my day with a wide selection of fresh fruits, pastries, eggs, and Chinese dim sum. They also had made-to-order noodle and omelet stations, which was a great touch. The food quality was excellent, and the service during breakfast was attentive, with staff regularly refilling coffee and tea without being asked. In addition to the breakfast buffet, the hotel offers several dining options throughout the day. I dined at their Chinese restaurant one evening, which specializes in Hangzhou cuisine. The dishes were authentic and flavorful—definitely a highlight of my trip. I recommend trying the local specialty, Dongpo Pork, which was cooked to perfection. Room service was also available 24/7, and I tried it once when I returned late from sightseeing. The food was delivered promptly, and the quality was on par with the restaurant meals.

I traveled in Hangzhou for 3 days and 2 nights and chose to stay at Sofitel Hangzho West Lake because the location of the hotel is near West Lake. The room is clean and spacious, with complete equipment. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast is very delicious. I also received a set of mooncakes as a gift from booking this time. I am very impressed. In the future, if I have a chance to travel to Hangzhou, I will come back to stay here again.

This is a perfect location for travelers especially for people who are the first time visiting Hangzhou , it is just 6-8 mins walking distance to West Lake, Kerry Center is just next door, very convivence for shopping, have a coffee, dinner etc. It's my second stay, i believe this Shangri-la is the best in terms of hotel facilities, location among the nearby luxury hotel such as Grand H. It was a very pleasant stay. PS: A big compliment to their Reservation team, they are patient, pay attention in details, excellent!

Indeed this hotel is from 1935 and in this era the hotel was smashing. However, today we are in 2024 and although it is still looking fantastic the building is old and very humid, at least at the first floor where we were. We had to change the first room because it was smelling bad and everything was humid. There was equipment placed to get the moisture out of the room but this was really not enough. The second room was already better but still the humidity was far too high above 65!! My wife really had breathing issues with the high humidity and we were really happy that we booked only two nights. The people and the breakfast in the hotel was great but that couldn’t compensate the bad environment where you had to sleep. If you have breathing or lung issues I would recommend not to book this hotel because it will make you really sick, again at least the first floor. How the environment is on the other floors I cannot judge because I have not experienced it. A hotel of this level should be able to really do something about it and not putting a piece of (loud) equipment in the room to get humidity right.

This is my second stay at the hotel. The service is really great. The front desk service is very proactive and Xiao Gan is great. The room has a high floor and complete facilities. You can see the river view from the room. The room is clean and tidy. Very good. I am very satisfied with my overall stay. Breakfast is on the 40th floor. There are many varieties. It combines Chinese and Western styles. The hotel provides free parking. It is really good. I will come to this hotel again next time and look forward to my next stay~

I'm from South Korea, my team and I stayed for two nights for a business meeting, and we had a truly satisfying experience. What we appreciated the most was our dining experience at the Chinese restaurant on Basement Level 4 over Sunday and Monday. We were able to enjoy delicious Chinese cuisine at a relaxed pace and at a reasonable price. Additionally, the staff thoughtfully and meticulously served the liquors without corkage charge. A particularly memorable moment occurred on Monday evening. Before the dessert was served, we accidentally settled the bill and returned to our room, forgetting about the dessert. However, the staff noticed this and kindly delivered a warm note, along with fruits and an apology message, to our room. This gesture left us deeply impressed and grateful. I just hope you to encourage their warm minds. As we have several more business trips planned to Hangzhou in the near future, we are already looking forward to staying at InterContinental again.

Wanted to escape for a short staycation. The hotel is well located in a peaceful area and beautiful scenery. The staff was very welcoming and had a fast check in. The room was very nice and well maintained. The overall stone (included shower) was really nice. It’s easy to walk around the lake and enjoy the lotus. The amenities in the room was good with everything you need in hand and nice welcome fruits was a great gesture. Also thoughtful turn down amenities with snacks and drink. Only negative point was the F&B offering, wanted to try the western restaurant however when I asked to see the menu we only saw Asian food (see attached picture), the Chinese food looks good tho. Saw we had in room dining option but no menu in the room and I don’t speak Chinese to call and order. The breakfast had a great selection but quality was not up to expectations but the chef were really great and understood my request. The overall staff was really nice and always saying hello and smiling which made me feel welcome. They also have spa and kids playground but I didn’t have a chance to try or check the venue. I will definitely come back and hope they can improve their western offering.
