CCarolynnnExceeded our expectations, the details in every corner of the room - especially at the toiletries area, very good service and clean, used almost all branded brands like hansgrohe, Toto, dyson could be found :)downside is only that it’s far from the city which cab takes about 30-40mins ! Lastly, they served all 3 meals (even supper) inclusive in the room charges!

2205250****Since we were driving, the bellhop at the entrance directed us to parking and helped carry our luggage to the room, which was very nice. However, the check-in experience was terrible; the front desk lady's impatient attitude almost made me want to cancel the reservation.
The room was too small, and the 270-degree view was completely blocked by the low-rise buildings in front, meaning there was no view at all. The room design was also quite impractical; when you open the wardrobe by the entrance, you can barely squeeze past sideways. The TV placement was ridiculous, supported by a single stand, and a few times I almost bumped into it when getting up from the sofa. The cabinet by the bed, which I almost didn't notice, contained a safe and a hanger that was completely useless for hanging clothes.
The only thing I can praise is the Chinese restaurant. The food was superb, and the restaurant service was incredibly attentive. Even though the lights were being repaired that evening, the manager kept us informed and immediately provided a small table lamp, making us feel completely taken care of. The Western restaurant, where we had the buffet dinner on the first night, had one rude server. After providing feedback to the manager during breakfast the next day, I noticed immediate improvement, and the breakfast was also excellent. In fact, the food at both restaurants is fantastic, truly worth trying for anyone visiting Kunming.
Adaptability and consistency are truly key to success in the service industry and why customers choose a place.

MMarc1The hotel is beautifully located by a serene, quiet lake, making it an excellent choice for a relaxing stay. It is particularly popular among families with children, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
The breakfast is fantastic, especially if you go early in the morning when the food is freshly prepared. However, later in the day, the selection may not be as fresh.
While the staff does not speak English, navigating your stay is still manageable with some basic Chinese and the help of Google Translate—just as it is in many parts of China.
I highly recommend booking a room with a spa on the balcony. These rooms are located on the second floor, offering greater privacy and more outdoor space. The spa feature itself can be a bit tricky to use—you need to ensure the water level is just right, as too much or too little will prevent it from working properly.
Overall, the hotel is very clean, and the staff is accommodating and responsive to any requests. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with excellent amenities, this is a great choice.

AAutumnLeafI stayed at Cachet Boutique Hotel Kunming on 25–26 October and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is located a little away from the main pedestrian street, but the area around it has plenty of lively bars and cafés that attract a younger crowd — great if you enjoy a vibrant atmosphere.
The hotel itself was clean, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully designed. I was really impressed by the stylish decor, quality amenities, and the spacious room layout. We were also pleasantly surprised to receive a free room upgrade, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Checking in/out was fast and hassle free.
As an additional benefit, the hotel is located 10 minutes from the train station.
Overall, it’s excellent value for money — I’d definitely recommend Cachet Boutique Hotel to anyone visiting Kunming who’s looking for comfort, style, and a touch of local charm.

Big Foot's Hostel is an old youth hostel in Kunming, and I came here based on its reputation, and it certainly didn't disappoint. The cafe on the first floor has a great vibe, which I really enjoyed. There's a huge bougainvillea in the courtyard that's blooming beautifully. The staff are all very friendly, and the beds are clean and new. The common areas are also very clean, and you can even pet cats! There are plenty of food options near the hostel, and they have daily activities. The room rates are also very affordable, making it a highly cost-effective youth hostel. I would definitely recommend it to friends visiting Kunming! Satisfied in all aspects.

AAnonymous UserI originally planned to stay for just one day during my transit, but ended up staying for four! The location is great, and the guesthouse is quite spacious. It was lovely to watch the night view from the terrace in the evenings and sunbathe during the day. The weather in Yunnan is amazing; everywhere you look is beautiful. The place is clean, and since it was the off-season, it wasn't crowded, making for a very pleasant and comfortable stay.

MM502700****Staying at the Sofitel's 270-degree Dianchi Lake view room, looking out at the lake nestled behind the city's towering buildings, one can't help but feel a sense of 'the sea within my heart' amidst the bustling metropolis.
This is my second time staying at this five-star hotel with a strong French flair in Kunming, and also my second time experiencing their elegant, 'home away from home' hospitality and service. It truly fills me with warmth, gratitude, and respect.
At the hotel, the most exciting part of my day is heading up to the 49th floor for a lavish breakfast with both Chinese and Western options. While enjoying the meal, I gaze down at Kunming's urban rhythm as a new day begins, and instantly feel a surge of new energy and vitality.
Whether for business or leisure, after returning to the hotel in the evening, I can head to the fifth floor for a swim (the water temperature is wonderfully pleasant), sauna, or steam bath, for an active rest and relaxation session. The Sofitel's spacious indoor pool is truly exceptional among five-star hotels. With the pool lighting, swimming feels especially easy and enjoyable.
With its abundant amenities, delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner, leisure and entertainment options, sports and fitness facilities, and views of Dianchi Lake and the Western Hills, this hotel is a place where you can quietly spend an entire day, offering an ideal environment for solitude and reflection.
Kunming is a city worth visiting again and again throughout the year, and the Sofitel Kunming is also a hotel I'm more than happy to return to. See you next time!

GGuest UserThis hotel feels great, with a good location, 2 minutes walk from Dianchi Lake, and surrounded by scenic spots, including Xishan, Haigeng Park, and the National Village. The room is great, the big bed is very comfortable, the constant temperature shower, and the hair dryer are very useful. The service is especially good. We arrived very late, and the hotel has private dishes. We contacted them in advance, and the chef waited until we arrived to finish the meal before leaving get off work. The food is delicious, their set meal is affordable, and the hotel waiter is also very warm. They prepared baby chairs and baby tableware in advance, and sent afternoon tea the next day. In short, it was a very satisfactory stay, worth recommending

MM2e9jpmh0****This was my first time staying here. You have to climb three flights of stairs, go through a bar and a courtyard to get to the entrance. I immediately noticed all the interesting posters, which created a great atmosphere, along with well-wishes from foreign friends. I happened to catch a concert, and the singer was excellent – definitely a thumbs up! The courtyard was also full of greenery, clearly very well-maintained. It rained, so I didn't go out, but listening to music and chatting at the bar was very pleasant. There were lots of activities planned; I even took a photo of the activity list, which looked great. I didn't participate in the official hotel activities, but I played UNO with other guests for the first time, which was a new experience for me.
