Hong Kong Arrival Card: Entry Guide & Travel Tips

Author's Profile Picture
Hong Kong Arrival Card

When you land in Hong Kong, there’s a quick form you need to take care of — it’s called the Arrival Card. It’s nothing complicated. Just basic stuff like your name, passport number, flight info, and where you’re staying. You can fill it out online before you travel, or sometimes they give it to you on the plane. Either way, it’s required, and without it, immigration might hold you up. This article breaks down what it is and how to get it done without stress.

❤️Pro Tip: When planning your visit, consider booking flights from Manila to Hong Kong and Hong Kong hotels in advance to secure the best rates.

📄 What’s the Hong Kong Arrival Card?

The Peak Tram

Once you land in Hong Kong, there’s a quick thing to handle before you get going — the Arrival Card.

It’s just a simple form for immigration. If you’ve been here before, you probably know the drill. If not, no worries — you can fill it out online before your flight, or sometimes they’ll remind you at the airport. Takes maybe a minute. Just easier to have it done before you hit the line.

🎒 What is it?

The Hong Kong Arrival Card is a short form where you give a few basic details:

  • Your name and passport number
  • Your flight number and arrival date
  • Where you’re staying in Hong Kong

There’s no physical card handed out on the plane anymore — it’s all online now. Just fill it out before you land. You don’t need to print it; immigration will see it in their system.

🛃 Why should Filipino travelers care?

Let’s be real — a lot of Pinoys forget about this part. Some even try to do it while waiting in line at immigration. But after a long flight? No thanks.

Here’s why it matters:

✅ Avoid delays at immigration
✅ No need to rush or panic at the airport
✅ One less thing to worry about when you land

👥 Who Needs to Fill Out the Hong Kong Arrival Card?

Tsim Sha Tsui

It’s quick, it’s online, and yes — Filipino travelers still need to do it.

Here’s who should fill it out:

You’re flying into Hong Kong

Whether you’re landing at Hong Kong International Airport or just passing through on a short trip, most travelers arriving by air need to complete the Arrival Card online. Do it before your flight or right after you land (but before immigration).

You’re visiting for a few days or weeks

Tourists, short business trips, quick visits to friends or family — if you're not a resident, this form is part of the entry process. Doesn’t matter if you’re staying in a hotel, Airbnb, or with a friend — you still need it.

You’re not a Hong Kong resident

If you don’t have a Hong Kong ID or permanent status, you’re entering as a visitor — and visitors must submit the Arrival Card. No card, no entry stamp. Simple as that.

📝 How to Fill Out the Hong Kong Arrival Card

Hong Kong Tramways (Ding Ding)

No paper forms. No need to print anything. The Hong Kong Arrival Card is now filled out online — super quick and easy, but you still need to do it right.

Here’s how to get it done, without the stress:

Step 1: Go to the Official Website

Use your phone or laptop and visit the official site:
👉 www.immd.gov.hk → Look for "Online Arrival Card"

Real tip: Do this before your flight — ideally the night before. It takes around 3–5 minutes, and you don’t want to be rushing at the airport.

✍️ Step 2: Fill in Your Basic Info

You’ll need to enter:

  • Full name (same as your passport)
  • Passport number
  • Nationality (Filipino, if you're from the Philippines)
  • Gender and date of birth

Double-check this part. Any mistake might cause delays at immigration.

✈️ Step 3: Flight and Travel Info

Next, they’ll ask for:

  • Flight number (your flight to Hong Kong)
  • Arrival date
  • Purpose of visit (tourism, business, visiting friends, etc.)

Tip: Check your boarding pass or e-ticket for the flight number. It usually looks like “CX900” or “5J272”.

🏨 Step 4: Where You’re Staying

They’ll ask for your address in Hong Kong — just type the name of your hotel, hostel, Airbnb, or wherever you're staying.

No hotel yet?
Put the general area or a temporary place, but be honest — immigration might ask.

📱 Step 5: Submit — and You’re Done!

After you finish, just hit Submit.
No need to print anything. The system will send your info straight to immigration.

You’ll get a confirmation screen — you can screenshot it just in case, but you won’t be asked to show it (most of the time).

👀 Real-Life Reminder:

  • Do one form per person (even for kids)
  • Must be filled within 3 days before you arrive
  • Don’t leave it until you land — Wi-Fi at the airport can be slow or unstable

## Environment: The hotel room was quite spacious and comfortable. It's very close to Victoria Harbour, and walking to Tsim Sha Tsui East and Tsim Sha Tsui MTR stations is also very convenient. I'm not sure if I got an upgraded room type, but my room even had a walk-in closet. ## Service: The hotel room essentially met all my requirements. I chose a twin room this time because the king-size rooms were smoking rooms. Our room was on a higher floor, close to the elevator yet still quiet, and we could see a partial view of Victoria Harbour from outside. The front desk service was exceptionally thoughtful; they would proactively offer help whenever they saw us. ## Hygiene and Facilities: The hotel seems to have been recently renovated. All the amenities are quite new and very clean, though the facilities themselves are relatively classic/retro. ## Breakfast: Breakfast was a mix of Western and Cantonese cuisine. The variety of dishes was relatively rich, and the Cantonese dim sum was delicious. They offered freshly cooked pork rib or fish ball noodles/vermicelli, and the most thoughtful part was being able to add as much noodles or vermicelli as you wanted.

This was my first time staying at the Royal Garden. The hotel is clean, has a beautiful pool, nice views, and a wide selection of restaurants. Every staff member presents themselves in a professional manner, they have sincere smiles and are extremely helpful, the concierge, bellboy and housekeeping staff are very polite as well. I am especially thankful to Manager Bonny for leading her team excellently. Her team members, Polly, Ken, and Anson, all have great team spirit and were very helpful with our facility requests, as well as with the special arrangements for our tour. I am truly grateful and appreciate having them during my stay. I would definitely come back again and will surely miss their kind smiles and the feeling of being at home. A special thank you to Bonny and Polly, they made our stay in Hong Kong the best experiences, thank you!

The hotel is conveniently located near Moko Mall, offering plenty of dining, entertainment, and shopping options. The only downside is its direct connection only to the East Rail Line, which is a bit far from the Tsuen Wan Line (the main subway line connecting to Mong Kok and Jordan), requiring a ten-minute walk. The hotel facilities are excellent; it completely subverts the usual 'pigeon cage' impression of Hong Kong hotels with its surprisingly spacious rooms. It even has two double beds, and the lobby is also very expansive. If you're traveling as a group of four, this hotel offers great value for money.

Old and in desperate need of modernising. The bathroom was flooded after a shower as the shower cubicle door didn't have the correct seals in. However, staff were very attentive to our needs and even had a shuttle bus ( only for certain rooms) that took us to the airport, which we didn't know. At night ( in our room , anyway) was noisy, sounded like a motor elevator. Overall, not our best stay. The only thing that saves it is its location.

The Alva Hotel by Royal stands out as a gem in Sha Tin, and indeed across Hong Kong, thanks to its smart, modern accommodation, excellent location, and competitive pricing. The hotel upgraded us to a higher floor room for free, and the view was absolutely stunning! The staff were all very polite and friendly, making our stay very comfortable. The only minor drawback is that it takes 20-30 minutes to get to the city center, but for the price, it's really worth it. The room was spacious and well-equipped, even featuring a water filter, so we didn't have to spend money on bottled water. The bed was also very comfortable and great for sleeping; my parents were very satisfied 👍🏻 However, we were located next to the elevator, so we could hear people entering and exiting. There's a shopping mall right above the hotel. If you're coming from Tsuen Wan West MTR station, please take exit C/D; there's a pedestrian bridge directly connected to the mall that leads straight to the hotel, so you don't need to walk on the street. And we didn't encounter any 'ghosts' as mentioned online, so feel free to stay here~

Simple hotel with comfort bed. It is convenient to go every where at Kowloon. Great price and the room is quiet and we had good night sleep for early morning to get high speed train. Found out outside can get 26 mini bus to there. Only no shelf for suitcase or anything to put on the table. Lucky we only have a small bag. Shower area is very small. Sink is in the bedroom very unusual design. The lift and lobby in golden colour. I liked the chairs in lobby. I feel very comfortable to sit on. But no plastic bag for rubbish bin. The room was fantastic! I originally booked this hotel because of its proximity to my destination, and when I was choosing a room, I saw options for both new and old rooms. I decisively went for a newly renovated one, even though it was a bit pricier. Thankfully, I booked in advance, so the discounted price was still good. Before checking in, I read some reviews saying the rooms were old and the facilities mediocre, which made me quite worried. But when I got to the room, I was completely blown away! The hotel tried its best to accommodate my requests, and the service was excellent. The room was so clean and bright, and there was absolutely no strange odor from the renovation, making me feel incredibly comfortable the moment I stepped inside. The space in the room was cleverly utilized, with a bench, chairs, and a long table. The two 1-meter single beds were larger than I expected and very comfortable! As for chargers, the hotel provides travel adapters, and there's a Chinese-style socket in the bathroom. Plus, there's magnetic charging on the bedside table – super thoughtful! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 The hotel is surrounded by eateries, convenience stores, Lung Heung Lau (Lotus Seed Paste Buns), Japanese ramen shops, Lung Fung Pharmacy, souvenir shops, bookstores, Cafe de Coral, BBQ meat shops, etc. There's also The ONE shopping mall nearby, which covers all your needs. The hotel is only a few hundred meters from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Station Exit B2, just a few minutes' walk – very convenient. From Austin Station (West Kowloon), it's just one stop to East Tsim Sha Tsui Station, then you can walk within the station for 13 minutes to Tsim Sha Tsui Exit B, which is quick and easy! I absolutely loved and was satisfied with this booking and stay experience... I'll definitely come back again and recommend it to my friends. Thanks to the hotel staff for the wonderful service during our trip to Hong Kong.

For Hong Kong, this hotel offers great value for money. It's much more comfortable after the renovation, and the location is excellent, just a few steps from the bar street. However, one of the staff members at the front desk was a bit perfunctory. When I asked her where the airport bus stop was, she just said, 'go straight down this road, and the first bus stop is it.' She didn't specify that for the airport, you need to cross the road to the bus stop on the other side. There are airport bus stops in both directions, and naturally, I assumed 'the first bus stop' meant the closest one. Luckily, a kind passerby told me I needed to cross the road for the airport, otherwise, getting on the wrong bus and wasting time would have been a huge hassle. Why work in customer service if you're going to be so unhelpful? A quick tip for everyone visiting Hong Kong: always bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste.

This is my 2nd time staying at this hotel. We really enjoyed our Hongkong trip because of this hotel's convenient location. We were able to shop, eat at good restaurants, and go on different adventures bec of the nearby train station. The K11 Art Mall is right across its entrance on Mody Road. The rooms were just right for 2 persons. The toiletries were complete and free except the toothbrush and shower cap which was part of the environment policy. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were even classified as soft or firm. There's also a water purifier which saved us from buying water at the convenience stores. We stayed at this hotel for 8 days, and everything went smoothly from check-in to check-out. On our first day, I bought a SIM card from 7-Eleven and struggled to set it up because it was in Chinese. One of the staff members, Jimmy Lee, kindly took the initiative to help me set it up — thank you so much, Jimmy! My parents loved the atmosphere, and they especially enjoyed the breakfast. The breakfast menu changed daily, offering a nice variety of choices. All the staff — from reception and kitchen to housekeeping — were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our housekeeper always ensured the room was clean and tidy. On our last day, we had a late flight after checking out. The hotel team kept our luggage safe, and Wai Tse was extremely helpful with the check-out process. He also arranged a taxi for us and assisted us until we left. The hotel is super close to West Kowloon Station. Just take escalator from Austin Exit F, then turn right and walk straight for about 100 meters from Exit 2, and you're there. It's really convenient for getting around; you can even walk to Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei. Disneyland is about a 50-minute subway ride away. I was originally worried the hotel would be too old and run-down, but upon checking in, it was much better than I expected. Even though it's old, the room is spacious! That's a rare find in space-constrained Hong Kong. The hotel doesn't provide drinking water, so you'll need to boil your own or buy it from the 7-Eleven downstairs. Be careful!!!! Our experience with Empire Hotel was very unsatisfactory. We booked the hotel thinking that its going to be like any other 4-star hotel, as the price per night was similar to others in the area. It turned out, that this is hotel was 4-stars, maybe 20 years ago. The furniture and all room equipment looks like something I’d expect to find in a cheap student rental. Destroyed, quickly fixed with tape or paint (lol), siliconed windows to provide “isolation”, neighbors that you can hear even when they’re not particularly loud. Stained carpets, no amenities like drinkable WATER! We were shocked. No toothpaste or toothbrush in case you forget yours. In our room even fridge was dirty, not to mention the state of shower or ventilation. I would rank this hotel 2-stars. If you’re a fan of white noise this hotel is for you. If not, avoid their AC at all cost! I dont know how people stay there during summer, but its definitely not normal to feel like there’s a vacuum cleaner on next to you. We complained to the staff and were told that all rooms are the same. Trip.com unfortunately was not able to help us with relocation… second great story for another time. We were finally moved to a “better room” just to find out that indeed “all rooms are the same”. We also got a couch there that didnt even stay put together… I dont want to know how much people pay for that “premium” room… Honestly, there are many better hotels in the neighborhood, give them a chance instead of staying here. Good luck!

The A21 airport bus stops right outside, and Prince Edward Station is just steps away. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, and breakfast options are easily accessible. The staff were great; all my requests were met. If a queen-sized bed room was available, I was given one. They even noticed my birth date from my ID, wished me a happy birthday, and offered a small souvenir – very thoughtful details. The hotel doesn't provide water or disposable amenities, but it's easy to buy them downstairs. A clean hotel with a good view of the city across the river/sea. The only down side is that if we wanted amenities we have to buy it from a vending machine on the same floor that only accepts Alipay, WeChat and octopus. We are not from the mainland and just arrived in Hong Kong so we cannot buy anything from it. By amenities, I mean stuff like mineral water, toothbrush. Staff comes to clean everysay at about 10am and room was spacious. Did not get food from the hotel so will not be commenting on that. It’s online only now — no paper forms on the plane.

📝 You’ll need:

  • Passport
  • Flight number
  • Where you're staying

Real tip: Do it 1 to 3 days before you arrive. Takes just 5 minutes on your phone.
Website: www.immd.gov.hk

📲 2. Screenshot the Confirmation Page

After you submit the Arrival Card, you’ll see a confirmation screen.
Take a screenshot — just in case the system has issues or you need to show proof.

🏨 3. Know Where You’re Staying

Immigration officers may ask you:

  • “Where will you stay in Hong Kong?”
  • “How many days are you here?”
  • “What’s the purpose of your visit?”

Be ready with a short answer like:
🗣️ “I’m staying at Dorsett Mongkok for 5 days — just sightseeing.”
Don’t overthink it — they just want to confirm you have a plan.

📱 4. Save Travel Info on Your Phone

Keep everything handy — even offline:
✅ Flight ticket
✅ Hotel booking
✅ Passport photo (backup)
✅ Travel insurance or contact info

Pro tip: Take screenshots. Don’t rely on Wi-Fi or mobile data at the airport.

😊 5. Be Early, Stay Cool, and Keep Everything Together

Hong Kong airport is big, and immigration lines can get long during peak hours.

So:
🕐 Arrive early at the airport, especially if you’re connecting elsewhere
📂 Keep all your travel docs in one pouch or folder
😌 Stay calm, answer questions clearly, and be respectful

🥳 Pro Tip: Getting a Hong Kong eSIM can help you stay connected while traveling in Hong Kong.

❓ FAQ: Hong Kong Arrival Card

  • 📌 What is the Hong Kong Arrival Card?

It’s a short online form you fill out before entering Hong Kong. It tells immigration your basic info like name, passport number, flight details, and where you’re staying. No more paper forms — it’s all online now.
  • 📆 When should I fill it out?

1 to 3 days before you land in Hong Kong. If you try too early (like 5 days before), it won’t work. Best to fill it out the night before your flight.
  • 🛃 What if I forget to fill it out?

You won’t be allowed through immigration until it’s done. There’s Wi-Fi at the airport, but it’s better to do it ahead of time — no one wants to stress after a long flight.
  • Do Filipinos need a visa to enter Hong Kong?

No visa needed for short visits up to 14 days for Philippine passport holders. But you still need to submit the Arrival Card.
  • 📅 I changed my travel date — do I need to fill out the form again?

Yes. If your arrival date changes, you’ll need to submit a new Arrival Card with the updated info. Only the latest submission will be valid.
