Hong Kong Arrival Card: Entry Guide & Travel Tips

Hong Kong Arrival Card

When you land in Hong Kong, there’s a quick form you need to take care of — it’s called the Arrival Card. It’s nothing complicated. Just basic stuff like your name, passport number, flight info, and where you’re staying. You can fill it out online before you travel, or sometimes they give it to you on the plane. Either way, it’s required, and without it, immigration might hold you up. This article breaks down what it is and how to get it done without stress.

❤️Pro Tip: When planning your visit, consider booking flights from Manila to Hong Kong and Hong Kong hotels in advance to secure the best rates.

📄 What’s the Hong Kong Arrival Card?

The Peak Tram

Once you land in Hong Kong, there’s a quick thing to handle before you get going — the Arrival Card.

It’s just a simple form for immigration. If you’ve been here before, you probably know the drill. If not, no worries — you can fill it out online before your flight, or sometimes they’ll remind you at the airport. Takes maybe a minute. Just easier to have it done before you hit the line.

🎒 What is it?

The Hong Kong Arrival Card is a short form where you give a few basic details:

  • Your name and passport number
  • Your flight number and arrival date
  • Where you’re staying in Hong Kong

There’s no physical card handed out on the plane anymore — it’s all online now. Just fill it out before you land. You don’t need to print it; immigration will see it in their system.

🛃 Why should Filipino travelers care?

Let’s be real — a lot of Pinoys forget about this part. Some even try to do it while waiting in line at immigration. But after a long flight? No thanks.

Here’s why it matters:

✅ Avoid delays at immigration
✅ No need to rush or panic at the airport
✅ One less thing to worry about when you land

👥 Who Needs to Fill Out the Hong Kong Arrival Card?

Tsim Sha Tsui

It’s quick, it’s online, and yes — Filipino travelers still need to do it.

Here’s who should fill it out:

You’re flying into Hong Kong

Whether you’re landing at Hong Kong International Airport or just passing through on a short trip, most travelers arriving by air need to complete the Arrival Card online. Do it before your flight or right after you land (but before immigration).

You’re visiting for a few days or weeks

Tourists, short business trips, quick visits to friends or family — if you're not a resident, this form is part of the entry process. Doesn’t matter if you’re staying in a hotel, Airbnb, or with a friend — you still need it.

You’re not a Hong Kong resident

If you don’t have a Hong Kong ID or permanent status, you’re entering as a visitor — and visitors must submit the Arrival Card. No card, no entry stamp. Simple as that.

📝 How to Fill Out the Hong Kong Arrival Card

Hong Kong Tramways (Ding Ding)

No paper forms. No need to print anything. The Hong Kong Arrival Card is now filled out online — super quick and easy, but you still need to do it right.

Here’s how to get it done, without the stress:

Step 1: Go to the Official Website

Use your phone or laptop and visit the official site:
👉 www.immd.gov.hk → Look for "Online Arrival Card"

Real tip: Do this before your flight — ideally the night before. It takes around 3–5 minutes, and you don’t want to be rushing at the airport.

✍️ Step 2: Fill in Your Basic Info

You’ll need to enter:

  • Full name (same as your passport)
  • Passport number
  • Nationality (Filipino, if you're from the Philippines)
  • Gender and date of birth

Double-check this part. Any mistake might cause delays at immigration.

✈️ Step 3: Flight and Travel Info

Next, they’ll ask for:

  • Flight number (your flight to Hong Kong)
  • Arrival date
  • Purpose of visit (tourism, business, visiting friends, etc.)

Tip: Check your boarding pass or e-ticket for the flight number. It usually looks like “CX900” or “5J272”.

🏨 Step 4: Where You’re Staying

They’ll ask for your address in Hong Kong — just type the name of your hotel, hostel, Airbnb, or wherever you're staying.

No hotel yet?
Put the general area or a temporary place, but be honest — immigration might ask.

📱 Step 5: Submit — and You’re Done!

After you finish, just hit Submit.
No need to print anything. The system will send your info straight to immigration.

You’ll get a confirmation screen — you can screenshot it just in case, but you won’t be asked to show it (most of the time).

👀 Real-Life Reminder:

  • Do one form per person (even for kids)
  • Must be filled within 3 days before you arrive
  • Don’t leave it until you land — Wi-Fi at the airport can be slow or unstable

Because my child loves the Harbour City and Star Ferry Pier area, we've stayed at one of the three Marco Polo properties every year. My favorite is Marco Polo Hong Kong – it's classic yet comfortable, and its lounge is better than the Gateway's. Last summer, during our stay, I experienced unprofessional and discriminatory treatment from the front desk staff and was given a low-floor sea view room facing a car park. Consequently, I left an honest negative review on Ctrip. This year upon check-in, it truly felt like the hotel had taken the Ctrip feedback to heart. They must have given specific instructions to both the front desk and lounge staff, as we felt exceptionally well looked after overall. The two gentlemen in the lounge, in particular, were incredibly kind, sincere, and attentive. The gentleman from the concierge who escorted us to the executive floor, who I believe is the head of concierge, was also very dedicated and conscientious. Just before taking us upstairs, he even saw an elderly person at the main entrance needing help and immediately directed staff to assist. Overall, I noticed the hotel has implemented some cost-saving measures; for instance, the executive floor toiletries are no longer single-use. However, I fully support and embrace all eco-friendly and waste-reducing initiatives. While the food range in the lounge has been slightly reduced, the quality remains consistently high. There also seem to have been some significant staff changes; the previous expatriate manager in the lounge is no longer present, and the front desk staff are much more approachable, not exhibiting the aloofness sometimes perceived from local staff before. Every single staff member, from top to bottom, now seems very down-to-earth, diligent, and dedicated – which is excellent. With such effective management, I wish them continued prosperity in Hong Kong's highly competitive hotel industry.

The room was decent and offered a partial sea view. My only minor complaints were the low floor (4th) and the noise from the adjacent restaurant. Check-in and check-out weren't very smooth, and surprisingly, no complimentary bottled water was provided in the room. On the plus side, the shower pressure was excellent, making for a very comfortable experience. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the subway station, but it's very conveniently located for shopping malls and local attractions. If the price is right, I would definitely consider staying here again!

Excellent hotel for families, work or solo travellers! We stayed at Club room and all employees there were so welcoming and polite. During typhoon Ragasa they managed everything in such an orderly manner that, apart of noise from the wind, we didn’t feel any impact on the level of service at all.

This marks my second stay at a Regal property this year, though in a different location. The location is superb. It's incredibly accessible; I traveled from Austin to Hung Hom via the West Kowloon High-Speed Rail, then connected directly to Causeway Bay. From MTR Causeway Bay Exit F1, it's a straightforward walk of under ten minutes. Even on this short stroll, I discovered a plethora of dining options in the vicinity. The front desk service was on point – polite and efficient. The room's design leaned towards a classic, perhaps slightly dated, style. While it was standard, it was perfectly functional. The cleanliness was commendable. My only minor quibble was the lack of slippers (possibly an oversight, but I didn't personally find it a big issue). At approximately 30 square meters and priced around HKD 600+, it offers excellent value for money in Hong Kong. Overall, the Regal Hotels chain in Hong Kong consistently offers a worthwhile stay. Highly recommended.

The hotel is very clean, the rooms are spacious, and the bed sheets and bedding are extremely tidy. The pillows and mattress are very comfortable, and the large rain shower gives a spa-like experience with its water flow. The buffet breakfast offers a wide variety of food choices. It’s one of the top three best hotels I’ve stayed in over the past two years!

The room is spacious, with beautiful city views and a prime location. There are many malls downstairs, and the property is directly connected to the MTR station, making it very convenient. However, the wardrobe and bathroom need improvement; cleanliness could be better as there was some dust, and the bathroom felt a bit dated. Only an overhead shower was available, with no handheld option, and water often leaked out onto the bathroom floor, making it slippery and inconvenient. Overall, it was a good stay, but the bathroom and cleaning could be improved.

Long queue at Reception as super typhoon had caused a lot of flight cancellation. The front office staff, Jess, was very efficient and handled my check-in smoothly. Haven't stayed at this hotel for nearly 15 years. Room fixtures were worn out. Attached picture shows the condition of the bath tub faucet. No free bottled water was provided. Guest needs to boil their own water. Free tooth brush was provided, but no shower cap at all. If not I needed to catch an early flight the next morning, don't think I would stay here.

Not convinced of the 4-star rating, here’s why: CONS: - location is about 8-15 mins walk to the subway (Jordan Station) (with uphill part) - the room smells and some parts of the wall has stains (i supposed its molds but not a hundred percent sure since their covered with wall paper) - no complimentary water, no basic sanitary kits - the mugs were just laid beside the sink (unhygienic) PROS: - AC is true to its temperature - many restaurant downstairs + there’s a 7/11 Hope the management can improve and maintain their facilities so they could live by the 4-stat expectations.

The hotel is quite strategically located. It is less than 8mins walk to Tsim Sha Tsui East MTR (do not get confuse with Tsim Sha Tsui MTR) although it’s about 10mins walk apart from both MTR. Overall location I would say it’s ideal. There’s some comments on the services. Firstly the front desk with a manager title greeted us with some fake English accent 🤣 which surprise me. It will be more pleasant if he speaks normally. Secondly, 8 out of 10 hotels would be able to accommodate early checks for hotel guest but this hotel stand firm on 3pm check in, which I’m certainly fine because it written there. But one would argue that there’s a lack of courtesy. One thing that deserved my praise is the staff who handles the luggage, he serve with great manner and command better courtesy than the front desk. Amenities expectation. Don’t expect much. Hearsay that in HongKong even breathing the air cost money (exaggerated) but toothbrush, toothpaste and even Bottle of Water cost money for this hotel. No complimentary bottle of water. Conclusion If one do not intend to stay in the hotel all day and enjoy the facilities, just wishing to get some sleep and prepare for another city walk in HongKong, this hotel is somewhat ideal.

Let me be frank, the room is tiny - like I don’t even know how one would sit on the toilet, it being that close to the shower. But that’s to be expected in Hong Kong. I had no issue with finding the hotel or checking in. The only issue I’d raise is the bedding having a slight smell to it.

This is my go-to hotel every year I visit. The location is excellent, and while the facilities are a bit dated, the cleanliness is generally good. It's very quiet at night, ensuring a peaceful sleep. Overall, I have a positive impression. The surrounding area is incredibly convenient for dining, entertainment, and transportation. The famous Chungking Mansions, known from many Hong Kong films, is right next door, and Canton Road is also just a short walk away. The area is close to vibrant Mongkok markets, but not too close, so it was very quiet. The hotel provides with adapter for a phone charger, which is very convenient. Despite being an older hotel, it's very well-maintained, and the carpets were spotless. We appreciated being able to check in around noon. While we initially expected a small room, it turned out to be quite comfortable and perfectly adequate for our needs. Our room was cleaned promptly and thoroughly each day of our three-day stay, and the soundproofing was also decent. The hotel's location is excellent. East Tsim Sha Tsui Station Exit L4 provides direct access to the lobby, and several Tsim Sha Tsui Station exits are also conveniently close. Walking to Harbour City for shopping was effortless. Victoria Harbour, K11, the Space Museum, and the Star Ferry pier are all within easy walking distance. Just to the right of the hotel, you'll find a pharmacy, a local 'bing sutt' (Hong Kong-style cafe), and a 7-Eleven convenience store. On a side note, Wah So Bing Sutt wasn't particularly tasty and definitely not worth queuing for.

Metropark Hotel Mongkok is conveniently located just a 2–3 minute walk from Prince Edward MTR station, though be prepared to carry your luggage up a staircase. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially Ricky at the front desk who gave a warm welcome. The room had a slight musty smell when the air conditioning was off, and the hotel placed multiple air purifiers along the corridor. It would be better if each room had its own. No complimentary drinking water is provided—bottled water costs HKD3 via vending machines, which is cheap for Hong Kong, but only local e-payments are accepted.

This is my 4th stay in a room on the 39th floor. Everything was fine before. Unfortunately, this time I had to spend a lot of time and nerves, which was not part of my plans. The pool on the 39th floor next to the room was used by a homeless person to spend the night. In addition, he smoked, shook ashes into the pool, and drank alcohol. All this happened on the only sun lounger. This is only what I saw passing by in the evening and at night. Unfortunately, the staff could not solve the problem the first time I asked and I had to ask for help at least 5 times. In the end, they offered me to act as a surveillance camera and if a homeless person appears, to inform them. Thank you very much. Of course, I understand the mentality of people in Hong Kong, but in China, I can hardly even imagine such a situation. I strongly advise against using this pool and staying on the top floor due to a serious security breach. Anyone from the street can enter your territory, since it is separated only by a low partition. My things were not in the room, but after entering the door. Unfortunately, after leaving, I discovered that a bottle of perfume was missing. The money and documents were in the safe, everything was fine with them. I think this is due to this person entering my territory. I closed the door to the room at night and the balcony. Perhaps this saved my valuables. In the middle of my vacation, I found a huge cockroach in the bathroom. It was really gigantic. Thanks to the cleaning service. They were able to catch it and take it away. I hope the hotel management will take appropriate measures to ensure the safety of guests. Therefore, I will not give a bad rating to my favorite chain. I usually don't write reviews about hotels. And in such detail. But this time my wife made me write. She serves in the police and is very attentive to security issues. She said that she was very worried about having a stranger nearby. I think this is an exaggeration. She was probably offended that she was not congratulated on her birthday in this hotel, as she is used to in other hotels with a card or a compliment. She just happened to have a birthday when she checked in 😁😁😁

This seaside hotel is truly one of the most wonderful places I have ever stayed. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the warm welcome from the staff and the relaxing atmosphere of the ocean breeze. The location is perfect — right next to the beach, where you can hear the soothing sound of waves all day and night. The sea view from my room was absolutely stunning, especially during sunrise and sunset. It felt peaceful and refreshing, the perfect escape from the busy city life. The rooms are beautifully designed, very clean, and comfortable. Every detail shows the hotel’s high standards — from the soft bedding and ocean-themed decor to the thoughtful little touches like fresh flowers and complimentary snacks. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the balcony gave me a perfect spot to enjoy my morning coffee while watching the waves. The staff deserve special praise. They were kind, polite, and always smiling. They helped me with everything I needed, from arranging transportation to recommending local restaurants and activities. Their service felt genuine and personal, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The hotel restaurant was another highlight. The food was fresh, especially the seafood, which was cooked to perfection. I loved having breakfast by the beach, enjoying the gentle breeze and the sound of seagulls. The buffet had a wide variety of choices, both local and international, and every dish tasted great. The facilities were also excellent — the pool was clean and had a great view of the sea, and the spa offered relaxing massages that made me feel completely renewed. Everything was well-maintained and clearly managed with care. Overall, this hotel is a perfect blend of comfort, beauty, and top-quality service. It offers a peaceful environment where you can truly relax and feel connected to nature. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable seaside getaway. Very good - I was upgraded to a room on 20F. I’m not sure what my original would have been like but this was very large for Hong Kong and had all the facilities I wanted. The view was from a small window in the corner but still a very good view. Two minor issues: the window was filthy. One window can open (it’s locked) so could the hotel not manage to clean at least on pane of glass regularly? The other they can’t do much about… the bathroom was needlessly small given how large the room was. Anyway, I would stay again.

I stayed in a Family Room for two nights that included a buffet breakfast for 3 adults. The hotel's location is very convenient from HK Airport if you are traveling by airport bus. We took the A31 airport bus and while the journey was around 35 minutes, the bus stop is right next to the hotel that is great as we had several pieces of luggage. The same can be said for our return trip to the airport. The closest MTR station is a brisk 10 minutes walk. The hotel itself is good without being outstanding. The hotel's facilities are good and as it's located within a shopping mall, there are plenty of dining and shopping options. The room that we were in is a bit dated, had a musky smell and in general in need of a bit of TLC, but otherwise it was fine. The gym is good, as is the outdoor swimming pool. As the hotel's name suggests, the hotel is panda themed and in the there are a lot of panda decorations and cuddly pandas throughout the common areas. Breakfast was buffet style with a mix of Asian and.Western fare and was pretty good on both mornings. Hot drinks options were extremely limited- if you don't like coffee then it's hot water for you.

🧳 Tips for a Smooth Arrival in Hong Kong

Tian Tan Buddha

Hong Kong immigration is fast and efficient — as long as you’re prepared. Here’s some real-world advice to help you get through without stress or delays:

1. Fill Out the Hong Kong Arrival Card Before You Land

It’s online only now — no paper forms on the plane.

📝 You’ll need:

  • Passport
  • Flight number
  • Where you're staying

Real tip: Do it 1 to 3 days before you arrive. Takes just 5 minutes on your phone.
Website: www.immd.gov.hk

📲 2. Screenshot the Confirmation Page

After you submit the Arrival Card, you’ll see a confirmation screen.
Take a screenshot — just in case the system has issues or you need to show proof.

🏨 3. Know Where You’re Staying

Immigration officers may ask you:

  • “Where will you stay in Hong Kong?”
  • “How many days are you here?”
  • “What’s the purpose of your visit?”

Be ready with a short answer like:
🗣️ “I’m staying at Dorsett Mongkok for 5 days — just sightseeing.”
Don’t overthink it — they just want to confirm you have a plan.

📱 4. Save Travel Info on Your Phone

Keep everything handy — even offline:
✅ Flight ticket
✅ Hotel booking
✅ Passport photo (backup)
✅ Travel insurance or contact info

Pro tip: Take screenshots. Don’t rely on Wi-Fi or mobile data at the airport.

😊 5. Be Early, Stay Cool, and Keep Everything Together

Hong Kong airport is big, and immigration lines can get long during peak hours.

So:
🕐 Arrive early at the airport, especially if you’re connecting elsewhere
📂 Keep all your travel docs in one pouch or folder
😌 Stay calm, answer questions clearly, and be respectful

🥳 Pro Tip: Getting a Hong Kong eSIM can help you stay connected while traveling in Hong Kong.

Here’s how to start your Hong Kong trip smoothly:

Fill out the Hong Kong Arrival Card online – do it 1 to 3 days before your flight at www.immd.gov.hk. It only takes a few minutes.
No visa needed for Filipinos – you can stay up to 14 days visa-free. Still, make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months.
Have your hotel and flight details ready – immigration might ask where you’re staying and when you’re leaving.

🏨 Reserve your hotel or Airbnb in Hong Kong – you'll need the address for the Arrival Card and possible immigration questions.

❓ FAQ: Hong Kong Arrival Card

  • 📌 What is the Hong Kong Arrival Card?

It’s a short online form you fill out before entering Hong Kong. It tells immigration your basic info like name, passport number, flight details, and where you’re staying. No more paper forms — it’s all online now.
  • 📆 When should I fill it out?

1 to 3 days before you land in Hong Kong. If you try too early (like 5 days before), it won’t work. Best to fill it out the night before your flight.
  • 🛃 What if I forget to fill it out?

You won’t be allowed through immigration until it’s done. There’s Wi-Fi at the airport, but it’s better to do it ahead of time — no one wants to stress after a long flight.
  • Do Filipinos need a visa to enter Hong Kong?

No visa needed for short visits up to 14 days for Philippine passport holders. But you still need to submit the Arrival Card.
  • 📅 I changed my travel date — do I need to fill out the form again?

Yes. If your arrival date changes, you’ll need to submit a new Arrival Card with the updated info. Only the latest submission will be valid.
