Hong Kong Arrival Card: Entry Guide & Travel Tips

Hong Kong Arrival Card

When you land in Hong Kong, there’s a quick form you need to take care of — it’s called the Arrival Card. It’s nothing complicated. Just basic stuff like your name, passport number, flight info, and where you’re staying. You can fill it out online before you travel, or sometimes they give it to you on the plane. Either way, it’s required, and without it, immigration might hold you up. This article breaks down what it is and how to get it done without stress.

❤️Pro Tip: When planning your visit, consider booking flights from Manila to Hong Kong and Hong Kong hotels in advance to secure the best rates.

📄 What’s the Hong Kong Arrival Card?

The Peak Tram

Once you land in Hong Kong, there’s a quick thing to handle before you get going — the Arrival Card.

It’s just a simple form for immigration. If you’ve been here before, you probably know the drill. If not, no worries — you can fill it out online before your flight, or sometimes they’ll remind you at the airport. Takes maybe a minute. Just easier to have it done before you hit the line.

🎒 What is it?

The Hong Kong Arrival Card is a short form where you give a few basic details:

  • Your name and passport number
  • Your flight number and arrival date
  • Where you’re staying in Hong Kong

There’s no physical card handed out on the plane anymore — it’s all online now. Just fill it out before you land. You don’t need to print it; immigration will see it in their system.

🛃 Why should Filipino travelers care?

Let’s be real — a lot of Pinoys forget about this part. Some even try to do it while waiting in line at immigration. But after a long flight? No thanks.

Here’s why it matters:

✅ Avoid delays at immigration
✅ No need to rush or panic at the airport
✅ One less thing to worry about when you land

👥 Who Needs to Fill Out the Hong Kong Arrival Card?

Tsim Sha Tsui

It’s quick, it’s online, and yes — Filipino travelers still need to do it.

Here’s who should fill it out:

You’re flying into Hong Kong

Whether you’re landing at Hong Kong International Airport or just passing through on a short trip, most travelers arriving by air need to complete the Arrival Card online. Do it before your flight or right after you land (but before immigration).

You’re visiting for a few days or weeks

Tourists, short business trips, quick visits to friends or family — if you're not a resident, this form is part of the entry process. Doesn’t matter if you’re staying in a hotel, Airbnb, or with a friend — you still need it.

You’re not a Hong Kong resident

If you don’t have a Hong Kong ID or permanent status, you’re entering as a visitor — and visitors must submit the Arrival Card. No card, no entry stamp. Simple as that.

📝 How to Fill Out the Hong Kong Arrival Card

Hong Kong Tramways (Ding Ding)

No paper forms. No need to print anything. The Hong Kong Arrival Card is now filled out online — super quick and easy, but you still need to do it right.

Here’s how to get it done, without the stress:

Step 1: Go to the Official Website

Use your phone or laptop and visit the official site:
👉 www.immd.gov.hk → Look for "Online Arrival Card"

Real tip: Do this before your flight — ideally the night before. It takes around 3–5 minutes, and you don’t want to be rushing at the airport.

✍️ Step 2: Fill in Your Basic Info

You’ll need to enter:

  • Full name (same as your passport)
  • Passport number
  • Nationality (Filipino, if you're from the Philippines)
  • Gender and date of birth

Double-check this part. Any mistake might cause delays at immigration.

✈️ Step 3: Flight and Travel Info

Next, they’ll ask for:

  • Flight number (your flight to Hong Kong)
  • Arrival date
  • Purpose of visit (tourism, business, visiting friends, etc.)

Tip: Check your boarding pass or e-ticket for the flight number. It usually looks like “CX900” or “5J272”.

🏨 Step 4: Where You’re Staying

They’ll ask for your address in Hong Kong — just type the name of your hotel, hostel, Airbnb, or wherever you're staying.

No hotel yet?
Put the general area or a temporary place, but be honest — immigration might ask.

📱 Step 5: Submit — and You’re Done!

After you finish, just hit Submit.
No need to print anything. The system will send your info straight to immigration.

You’ll get a confirmation screen — you can screenshot it just in case, but you won’t be asked to show it (most of the time).

👀 Real-Life Reminder:

  • Do one form per person (even for kids)
  • Must be filled within 3 days before you arrive
  • Don’t leave it until you land — Wi-Fi at the airport can be slow or unstable

Because my child loves the Harbour City and Star Ferry Pier area, we've stayed at one of the three Marco Polo properties every year. My favorite is Marco Polo Hong Kong – it's classic yet comfortable, and its lounge is better than the Gateway's. Last summer, during our stay, I experienced unprofessional and discriminatory treatment from the front desk staff and was given a low-floor sea view room facing a car park. Consequently, I left an honest negative review on Ctrip. This year upon check-in, it truly felt like the hotel had taken the Ctrip feedback to heart. They must have given specific instructions to both the front desk and lounge staff, as we felt exceptionally well looked after overall. The two gentlemen in the lounge, in particular, were incredibly kind, sincere, and attentive. The gentleman from the concierge who escorted us to the executive floor, who I believe is the head of concierge, was also very dedicated and conscientious. Just before taking us upstairs, he even saw an elderly person at the main entrance needing help and immediately directed staff to assist. Overall, I noticed the hotel has implemented some cost-saving measures; for instance, the executive floor toiletries are no longer single-use. However, I fully support and embrace all eco-friendly and waste-reducing initiatives. While the food range in the lounge has been slightly reduced, the quality remains consistently high. There also seem to have been some significant staff changes; the previous expatriate manager in the lounge is no longer present, and the front desk staff are much more approachable, not exhibiting the aloofness sometimes perceived from local staff before. Every single staff member, from top to bottom, now seems very down-to-earth, diligent, and dedicated – which is excellent. With such effective management, I wish them continued prosperity in Hong Kong's highly competitive hotel industry.

This five-star hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui East perfectly embodies a luxurious experience. Stepping into the lobby, I was immediately struck by the crystal chandeliers and the panoramic Victoria Harbour views. The front desk staff effortlessly switched between fluent Mandarin and Cantonese, and the champagne offered during check-in was a thoughtful touch. The guest rooms feature smart control systems, and the 270-degree floor-to-ceiling windows transform the Victoria Harbour night view into a living painting. The bathroom boasts a mirror TV and a marble bathtub, complementing each other perfectly. The fresh oysters and caviar at the executive lounge were impressive, and the rooftop infinity pool felt like it merged with the sky and sea. The concierge arranged a private Star Ferry night tour service within three minutes. This blend of international standards and Eastern hospitality makes every return a highly anticipated experience.

My second stay here, and I'm still very satisfied. The hotel's location is excellent and convenient, connected to a mall with great subway access. On the first day, I was assigned a room with an interconnecting door. Since it was already past 7 PM when I checked in, I spoke with the front desk, and they proactively helped me switch rooms the following afternoon, which was very considerate. The hotel's breakfast is plentiful, and I especially loved the coffee and the fresh juice made from huge apples – definitely a highlight! It would be even better if there were a discount for returning guests.

Highly recommended! This hotel offers a clean, neat, and spacious (by Hong Kong standards) retreat. The staff are exceptionally nice and accommodating, ensuring a comfortable stay with daily towel replacement, provided slippers, and fresh beddings upon request. Its greatest asset is the superb accessibility, with direct connectivity to both Moko Mall and the MTR Station.

Excellent hotel, large rooms above expectations, the room was clean and well-equipped, underwent basic cleaning, received water and clean towels every day. The hotel staff was courteous and helpful in everything (including ordering food and recommendations for attractions). Located a few minutes walk from the metro. There isn’t a washing machine in the hotel! The WIFI was the worst I have ever saw!!!

The rooms here are spacious with modern amenities, including a capsule coffee machine and a microwave. The hotel is conveniently located near Shek Mun Station, with plenty of dining options in the vicinity. Shek Mun MTR also offers easy access to West Kowloon Station. It's a quiet retreat despite its bustling surroundings, and MTR access makes getting around a breeze. The front desk staff spoke excellent Mandarin and were very helpful. The price was affordable, and our two-night stay was very comfortable, offering great value for money. Highly satisfied and recommended! It had been a while since I last visited Hong Kong, and during this trip, after exploring for a few days, I found Mandarin widely spoken everywhere. Mobile payments for transport and shopping were also incredibly convenient. Overall, a fantastic experience!

Absolutely fantastic. A surprise upgrade got us so addicted that we have to book that huge room again. Was it a marketing strategy? But it worked. We loved the view, by day and by night. The room was like 1000sqft with washing machine, dishes etc. Extra toilet was nice. Didn't use the oven but was a nice touch. The cleaning lady was alway ready to assist. This is by far my favourite hotel in HK now. The breakfast was....omg exceeded my expectation....was a little crowded but still, the staff was helpful, polite and professional.

HongKong International Airport Hong Kong|24.17km from city center
This hotel is located at the very end of Concourse A in the Hong Kong Airport Arrivals Hall. Initially, when exiting the arrivals gate, the signs weren't very clear. You have to walk towards the taxi stand direction and see the concourse before you'll spot the hotel's signage. The room's cleanliness was decent. However, despite being a non-smoking hotel, the first room they gave me reeked of cigarette smoke and I couldn't open the window to air it out. Even with the AC on, the smell wouldn't dissipate. Thankfully, after calling the front desk to report it, they immediately helped me switch rooms. The room size is acceptable for Hong Kong standards, but the facilities are noticeably old. If it weren't for catching an early flight or arriving very late, it might be better to stay at one of the newer hotels in Tung Chung.

A Great Choice in a Prime Location Our stay at the Ramada Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui was a very pleasant experience. The hotel's location is its biggest asset, offering incredible convenience for exploring the city. We were just a short walk away from the MTR station, making it easy to get around Hong Kong's main attractions, and the surrounding neighborhood is bustling with restaurants, shops, and convenience stores. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, from the front desk to the housekeeping team. The check-in and check-out processes were smooth and efficient, and they were always ready to assist with directions or recommendations. Our room was clean, well-maintained, and although typical for Hong Kong, it was comfortable and well-organized. We appreciated the thoughtful amenities provided. While we didn't use the fitness center, it's great to know that a good range of facilities are available. Overall, the hotel offers excellent value for money. It’s a solid, reliable choice for anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and well-located base to explore the vibrant city of Hong Kong. We would definitely consider staying here again on our next trip.

The hotel is quite strategically located. It is less than 8mins walk to Tsim Sha Tsui East MTR (do not get confuse with Tsim Sha Tsui MTR) although it’s about 10mins walk apart from both MTR. Overall location I would say it’s ideal. There’s some comments on the services. Firstly the front desk with a manager title greeted us with some fake English accent 🤣 which surprise me. It will be more pleasant if he speaks normally. Secondly, 8 out of 10 hotels would be able to accommodate early checks for hotel guest but this hotel stand firm on 3pm check in, which I’m certainly fine because it written there. But one would argue that there’s a lack of courtesy. One thing that deserved my praise is the staff who handles the luggage, he serve with great manner and command better courtesy than the front desk. Amenities expectation. Don’t expect much. Hearsay that in HongKong even breathing the air cost money (exaggerated) but toothbrush, toothpaste and even Bottle of Water cost money for this hotel. No complimentary bottle of water. Conclusion If one do not intend to stay in the hotel all day and enjoy the facilities, just wishing to get some sleep and prepare for another city walk in HongKong, this hotel is somewhat ideal.

I would probably rate it a 3.7 not yet a 4 star. This is an old hotel, but we booked one of the newly renovated suites so it was nicer and better amenities. However the building is still old so sound barrier was not great. The suites are located on the 21st floor, but there are no elevators. You will have to take the elevator to the 20th floor then climb a flight of stairs to the 21st. I didn’t mind it, but consider this to be a minus. The cleaning staff was nice that they asked if the rooms need cleaning every day and were efficient. The rooms were not that clean since we found a few pieces of hair in the bathroom and on the carpet. It also gets really noisy in the day time because the hotel is still under construction on some floors due to the renovation. Overall it is a good price for the size of the new rooms. Most importantly is the location is great because you can get to most places by foot. The mtr station is only a few minutes away. There are also plenty of famous eats around here.

The location of the place is great; you can see Victoria Harbour from the window, and there are plenty of MTR and bus options within walking distance. The only downsides are that the space is a bit small, the bathroom is tiny, and the soundproofing isn't great. Some machine kept making noise late at night, making it hard to sleep. But for what I paid (390), I can't really complain; it's decent enough.

Location: It's about a ten-minute walk from both Mong Kok and Olympic MTR stations. If you have a lot of luggage, it might be a bit inconvenient. I only had one suitcase, so it was fine for me. The location is pretty decent. Food: There's a dim sum place nearby called Sun Chan Kee Dim Sum that I absolutely love! It's a small place, always packed. They only accept cash! Most of the customers are locals from the neighborhood. I recommend going on non-public holidays, either at 7 AM or after 2 PM, to take advantage of their special '孖寶' (buy-one-get-one-free type) offer. The hotel is about a ten-minute walk to Mong Kok. Ladies' Market, Sneaker Street, Goldfish Street, and Langham Place are all very close by. It's a shopping paradise. Victoria Harbour is only three MTR stops away, costing about 5-6 HKD. The night view there is stunning. Service: The service is absolutely excellent! Hotel staff actively greet you when they see you. If you speak Mandarin, they'll switch to Mandarin to communicate with you. They were patient throughout. Five stars! Room: The room is small but clean. The facilities are a bit old but it doesn't affect the stay at all. The view from the window is also nice. The air conditioning in the room is very strong. All indoor air conditioning in Hong Kong is incredibly powerful!!! However, one downside is that the soundproofing isn't great. Every morning, the cleaning staff make a lot of noise outside while tidying up. I'm a light sleeper, so I couldn't go back to sleep in the mornings. But I slept well at night. Overall, for just a few hundred dollars during the National Day holiday, this hotel is still quite good. If I get the chance to visit Hong Kong again and stay around Mong Kok, I might choose this hotel again.

This was the first hotel we stayed at in Hong Kong during the National Day holiday, and the location was fantastic – so convenient for getting everywhere! The MTR station is right outside, and it's an easy walk to the Avenue of Stars or the Star Ferry Pier. The hotel doesn't provide complimentary toiletries or bottled water; you have to purchase them separately. During our stay, my child suddenly felt unwell in the middle of the night. We spoke to Hotel Manager T, who gave us incredibly timely advice and helped us call a taxi downstairs to the hospital. We're very grateful! Our 3-day stay felt very warm and welcoming.

The hotel's location is excellent, right near the Hong Kong West Kowloon High-Speed Rail Station. You can store your luggage if you arrive early, and they even allowed early check-in around 2 PM, which was a great service. There are restaurants and a supermarket nearby, making the facilities very convenient. The only minor drawback is that the beds are a bit narrower compared to mainland China, but given Hong Kong's limited space, that's understandable. Also, the hotel Wi-Fi often lags and fails to load content in the evenings once guests return. Overall, it was a very good experience and definitely worth recommending 👍

I recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately, my experience was not satisfactory. The Wi-Fi in my room was completely unusable, which made it difficult to stay connected. Additionally, the television could not find any channels, leaving me without entertainment. To make matters worse, the sofa in the wardrobe area was not clean; there were still strands of hair on it, which was quite off-putting. Overall, the lack of basic amenities and cleanliness issues greatly affected my stay. I hope the management addresses these concerns for future guests.

Overall, it is entirely standard, lacking any notable highlights, yet it offers reasonable value for money, suitable for those with limited budgets. The location is adequate, near the city center with reliable transportation; one can walk to the subway and nearby street food options without issue. The room is of moderate size, with simple decor that falls short of luxury but maintains cleanliness and order. The bed is sleepable, and both air conditioning and WiFi function as expected. Staff attitudes are neutral, check-in and check-out proceeded smoothly, and the morning buffet breakfast has limited variety—merely sufficient to satiate, with coffee and bread passing muster at best. Of course, the bathroom water pressure is somewhat weak, and soundproofing is average, occasionally allowing noise disturbances. However, given that the rates are only two-thirds of comparable establishments, such minor flaws are hardly worth mentioning. In summary, if you seek mere functionality rather than excitement, this place is worth considering. It will not greatly disappoint, nor will it provide excessive delight. Should the need arise again, I might select it once more. Recommendation rating: 4/5.

From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the warm welcome from the staff and the relaxing atmosphere of the ocean breeze. The location is perfect — right next to the beach, where you can hear the soothing sound of waves all day and night. The sea view from my room was absolutely stunning, especially during sunrise and sunset. It felt peaceful and refreshing, the perfect escape from the busy city life. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the balcony gave me a perfect spot to enjoy my morning coffee while watching the waves. The staff deserve special praise. They were kind, polite, and always smiling. They helped me with everything I needed, from arranging transportation to recommending local restaurants and activities. Their service felt genuine and personal, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The hotel restaurant was another highlight. The food was fresh, especially the seafood, which was cooked to perfection. I loved having breakfast by the beach, enjoying the gentle breeze and the sound of seagulls. 🧳 Tips for a Smooth Arrival in Hong Kong

Tian Tan Buddha

Hong Kong immigration is fast and efficient — as long as you’re prepared. Here’s some real-world advice to help you get through without stress or delays:

1. Fill Out the Hong Kong Arrival Card Before You Land

It’s online only now — no paper forms on the plane.

📝 You’ll need:

  • Passport
  • Flight number
  • Where you're staying

Real tip: Do it 1 to 3 days before you arrive. Takes just 5 minutes on your phone.
Website: www.immd.gov.hk

📲 2. Screenshot the Confirmation Page

After you submit the Arrival Card, you’ll see a confirmation screen.
Take a screenshot — just in case the system has issues or you need to show proof.

🏨 3. Know Where You’re Staying

Immigration officers may ask you:

  • “Where will you stay in Hong Kong?”
  • “How many days are you here?”
  • “What’s the purpose of your visit?”

Be ready with a short answer like:
🗣️ “I’m staying at Dorsett Mongkok for 5 days — just sightseeing.”
Don’t overthink it — they just want to confirm you have a plan.

📱 4. Save Travel Info on Your Phone

Keep everything handy — even offline:
✅ Flight ticket
✅ Hotel booking
✅ Passport photo (backup)
✅ Travel insurance or contact info

Pro tip: Take screenshots. Don’t rely on Wi-Fi or mobile data at the airport.

😊 5. Be Early, Stay Cool, and Keep Everything Together

Hong Kong airport is big, and immigration lines can get long during peak hours.

So:
🕐 Arrive early at the airport, especially if you’re connecting elsewhere
📂 Keep all your travel docs in one pouch or folder
😌 Stay calm, answer questions clearly, and be respectful

🥳 Pro Tip: Getting a Hong Kong eSIM can help you stay connected while traveling in Hong Kong.

❓ FAQ: Hong Kong Arrival Card

  • 📌 What is the Hong Kong Arrival Card?

It’s a short online form you fill out before entering Hong Kong. It tells immigration your basic info like name, passport number, flight details, and where you’re staying. No more paper forms — it’s all online now.
  • 📆 When should I fill it out?

1 to 3 days before you land in Hong Kong. If you try too early (like 5 days before), it won’t work. Best to fill it out the night before your flight.
  • 🛃 What if I forget to fill it out?

You won’t be allowed through immigration until it’s done. There’s Wi-Fi at the airport, but it’s better to do it ahead of time — no one wants to stress after a long flight.
  • Do Filipinos need a visa to enter Hong Kong?

No visa needed for short visits up to 14 days for Philippine passport holders. But you still need to submit the Arrival Card.
  • 📅 I changed my travel date — do I need to fill out the form again?

Yes. If your arrival date changes, you’ll need to submit a new Arrival Card with the updated info. Only the latest submission will be valid.
