Hong Kong Arrival Card: Entry Guide & Travel Tips

Author's Profile Picture
Hong Kong Arrival Card

When you land in Hong Kong, there’s a quick form you need to take care of — it’s called the Arrival Card. It’s nothing complicated. Just basic stuff like your name, passport number, flight info, and where you’re staying. You can fill it out online before you travel, or sometimes they give it to you on the plane. Either way, it’s required, and without it, immigration might hold you up. This article breaks down what it is and how to get it done without stress.

❤️Pro Tip: When planning your visit, consider booking flights from Manila to Hong Kong and Hong Kong hotels in advance to secure the best rates.

📄 What’s the Hong Kong Arrival Card?

The Peak Tram

Once you land in Hong Kong, there’s a quick thing to handle before you get going — the Arrival Card.

It’s just a simple form for immigration. If you’ve been here before, you probably know the drill. If not, no worries — you can fill it out online before your flight, or sometimes they’ll remind you at the airport. Takes maybe a minute. Just easier to have it done before you hit the line.

🎒 What is it?

The Hong Kong Arrival Card is a short form where you give a few basic details:

  • Your name and passport number
  • Your flight number and arrival date
  • Where you’re staying in Hong Kong

There’s no physical card handed out on the plane anymore — it’s all online now. Just fill it out before you land. You don’t need to print it; immigration will see it in their system.

🛃 Why should Filipino travelers care?

Let’s be real — a lot of Pinoys forget about this part. Some even try to do it while waiting in line at immigration. But after a long flight? No thanks.

Here’s why it matters:

✅ Avoid delays at immigration
✅ No need to rush or panic at the airport
✅ One less thing to worry about when you land

👥 Who Needs to Fill Out the Hong Kong Arrival Card?

Tsim Sha Tsui

It’s quick, it’s online, and yes — Filipino travelers still need to do it.

Here’s who should fill it out:

You’re flying into Hong Kong

Whether you’re landing at Hong Kong International Airport or just passing through on a short trip, most travelers arriving by air need to complete the Arrival Card online. Do it before your flight or right after you land (but before immigration).

You’re visiting for a few days or weeks

Tourists, short business trips, quick visits to friends or family — if you're not a resident, this form is part of the entry process. Doesn’t matter if you’re staying in a hotel, Airbnb, or with a friend — you still need it.

You’re not a Hong Kong resident

If you don’t have a Hong Kong ID or permanent status, you’re entering as a visitor — and visitors must submit the Arrival Card. No card, no entry stamp. Simple as that.

📝 How to Fill Out the Hong Kong Arrival Card

Hong Kong Tramways (Ding Ding)

No paper forms. No need to print anything. The Hong Kong Arrival Card is now filled out online — super quick and easy, but you still need to do it right.

Here’s how to get it done, without the stress:

Step 1: Go to the Official Website

Use your phone or laptop and visit the official site:
👉 www.immd.gov.hk → Look for "Online Arrival Card"

Real tip: Do this before your flight — ideally the night before. It takes around 3–5 minutes, and you don’t want to be rushing at the airport.

✍️ Step 2: Fill in Your Basic Info

You’ll need to enter:

  • Full name (same as your passport)
  • Passport number
  • Nationality (Filipino, if you're from the Philippines)
  • Gender and date of birth

Double-check this part. Any mistake might cause delays at immigration.

✈️ Step 3: Flight and Travel Info

Next, they’ll ask for:

  • Flight number (your flight to Hong Kong)
  • Arrival date
  • Purpose of visit (tourism, business, visiting friends, etc.)

Tip: Check your boarding pass or e-ticket for the flight number. It usually looks like “CX900” or “5J272”.

🏨 Step 4: Where You’re Staying

They’ll ask for your address in Hong Kong — just type the name of your hotel, hostel, Airbnb, or wherever you're staying.

No hotel yet?
Put the general area or a temporary place, but be honest — immigration might ask.

📱 Step 5: Submit — and You’re Done!

After you finish, just hit Submit.
No need to print anything. The system will send your info straight to immigration.

You’ll get a confirmation screen — you can screenshot it just in case, but you won’t be asked to show it (most of the time).

👀 Real-Life Reminder:

  • Do one form per person (even for kids)
  • Must be filled within 3 days before you arrive
  • Don’t leave it until you land — Wi-Fi at the airport can be slow or unstable

Excellent experience. The front desk had a very gentle and polite lady who kindly recommended suitable upgrade options for us. She explained everything in detail without being pushy, and her friendly and natural demeanor made our check-in very pleasant! The upgraded room was reasonably priced, the environment was fantastic, and the breakfast was incredibly rich. We're already planning to stay here again on our next trip to Hong Kong.

Love everything about this hotel! The location is very nice, even it's not in the middle of Tsim Sha Tsui but close enough to walk, ~10mins for walking to Tsim Sha Tsui. K11 Art mall is in the middle on the way from hotel to Tsim Sha Tsui so we stopped by for popular tea shops, CHAGEE and Heytea, everyday during our stay in this hotel. We booked premier room to enjoy the sea view and it's worth it! The hotel is located on the Mody road which have a beautiful Christmas decorations that can be seen from our hotel room, Avenue of Stars is also across the road. Room is true to pictures, all amenities are provided everyday, all staffs we met are easy approach and helpful. Highly recommended for anyone who's looking for luxury hotel in a budget!

Overall, I'm quite satisfied. The service was pretty good, and they assigned us a room on the 18th floor. However, the downside of the 18th floor is that you have to take the elevator to the 17th floor and then walk up the stairs, which isn't convenient if you have large luggage. On the other hand, the advantage is that the 18th floor is an executive floor with great views, so it felt like an upgrade that wasn't quite an upgrade. The location was convenient, and it offered good value for money. Finding a room of this quality for just over HKD 1,000 in Hong Kong is quite rare. However, the check-in process was very inefficient, and the front desk staff's service attitude was just average.

The hotel is located in the city center and close to shopping areas in Causeway Bay. It is also close to the Causeway Bay metro so it is easy to travel around Hong Kong. The hotel is clean, and Ms. Chalette, the staff member, was helpful throughout my registration. My room is on the 34th floor, close to the swimming pool. However, the pool is closed due to the weather. The gym is on the B2 floor, which is in the basement area. I haven’t checked the gym, though. To get to my room, I have to change the elevator on the 31st floor to another elevator.  The regular elevator is slow but the elevators from 31 to 34 are fast. My room is big with a high ceiling, and clean. There is a big bathtub in the room as well. The view is awesome which is Victoria Harbor and Victoria Park. However, the heater in the room didn’t work properly so it was always colder inside. Overall, except for the heater that didn’t work, and the slow elevator, I do enjoy my stay here. If it is not expensive, I might stay here again.

Every time I come to Hong Kong for hiking, I stay here. I've been here many times. You can go straight up the mountain from behind the hotel and connect to the MacLehose Trail and Wilson Trail, which is super convenient. The hotel isn't in the city center, so the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Shimen is also a nice area, and there's a mall in First City. This was my first time staying in Tsuen Wan, and I was quite satisfied. The room was spacious, and the double bed was 1.5 meters wide. The transportation was also very convenient, with plenty of places to eat and shop downstairs. My only minor complaint was that there weren't enough power outlets in the room. Also, the hairdryer could only be used outside the bathroom, and there wasn't a mirror near any of the available outlets.

The room is very spacious, and the soundproofing is excellent. I couldn't hear any planes taking off or landing at all! The hallway was also quiet! It's clean and tidy, just one stop from the exhibition center, and the bus is convenient. Getting to and from the airport via the Airport Express is also very easy! I'd definitely consider staying here again if I'm in the area. Great value for money! The bus stop is right across the street from the hotel, just a quick walk over, which makes getting to Tung Chung by bus super convenient.

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding service I experienced at The Kimberley Hotel on 23rd September 2025. Despite the challenging weather conditions during the typhoon, the afternoon shift team demonstrated remarkable dedication by坚守岗位 and serving guests with their warm and practical attitude. I would like to extend special gratitude to Mr. Ng, the Front Office Manager, who provided me with exceptional assistance. When I encountered issues with my room rental arrangement, Mr. Ng responded with impressive flexibility and efficiency. Thanks to his understanding and professional help, I was able to safely and comfortably weather the storm. Furthermore, when my originally assigned room didn't meet my expectations, Mr. Ng and the front desk reception team showed genuine concern for my feedback. They kindly arranged a room on the newly renovated floor, which proved to be thoroughly practical, clean, well-organized, and fully equipped with modern facilities. The flexible layout of the room particularly enhanced my comfort during the extended stay. The quality of these renovated rooms is truly impressive, and I sincerely hope that such renovations can be extended to all floors throughout the hotel. This enhancement would undoubtedly elevate the hotel's reputation and guest satisfaction significantly.

I booked a deluxe sea view twin room, but the room was ridiculously small. Two people couldn't even stand side-by-side, and the bathroom was even tinier, with no proper vanity, just a mini sink. They called it a deluxe sea view room, but it was just a room with a tiny peek of the sea. The location is pretty good though, a few hundred meters from the MTR station, making it convenient to get to Central and Tsim Sha Tsui. The female receptionist on duty when I checked in was very friendly; I didn't experience the kind of discriminatory treatment I'd read about online.

At around 1500, the quality is comparable to a five-star hotel in mainland China. Both the facilities and services are excellent, and it's very clean. For Hong Kong's city center, the room isn't too small; you can easily open a large suitcase. The location is superb, right next to Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station. There are tons of great food options and shopping malls nearby, making it convenient to get anywhere. The MTR connections are extensive, and many places are even within a 10-20 minute walk. For me, the comfort of the pillows could be improved, and there was quite a bit of noise from the hallway in the mornings.

Convenient location, clean room, excellent water pressure in the shower, and an expansive view from the window. The hotel was recommended by a classmate – someone quite stylish and discerning, so I figured their recommendation would be good. My personal impression: Coming here after the glitzy, extravagant hotels of Macau, it really felt like I'd come back down to earth from paradise. Overall, the hotel reminds me of a Home Inn in Shanghai – simple and practical. It cost over 900 (HKD/CNY) without breakfast. Both check-in and check-out were very quick. The room key cards are made from eco-friendly bamboo, but they don't provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, or shower caps. The unobstructed city view from the 16th floor is quite nice. The hotel is next to Kowloon Park, and it's not far by MTR to Disneyland and Lantau Island. It's also close to Central Pier, so you can easily take a ferry to various islands to see the sea. The Apple Store on Canton Road is about a ten-minute walk away. All in all, while the room interiors have a budget hotel style, they're a medium size (not especially small; you can put your suitcase on the table and sort things out at your leisure). The main advantages are cleanliness and convenience, making it suitable for travelers who prioritize practicality and location.

🧳 Tips for a Smooth Arrival in Hong Kong

Tian Tan Buddha

Hong Kong immigration is fast and efficient — as long as you’re prepared. Here’s some real-world advice to help you get through without stress or delays:

1. Fill Out the Hong Kong Arrival Card Before You Land

It’s online only now — no paper forms on the plane.

📝 You’ll need:

  • Passport
  • Flight number
  • Where you're staying

Real tip: Do it 1 to 3 days before you arrive. Takes just 5 minutes on your phone.
Website: www.immd.gov.hk

📲 2. Screenshot the Confirmation Page

After you submit the Arrival Card, you’ll see a confirmation screen.
Take a screenshot — just in case the system has issues or you need to show proof.

🏨 3. Know Where You’re Staying

Immigration officers may ask you:

  • “Where will you stay in Hong Kong?”
  • “How many days are you here?”
  • “What’s the purpose of your visit?”

Be ready with a short answer like:
🗣️ “I’m staying at Dorsett Mongkok for 5 days — just sightseeing.”
Don’t overthink it — they just want to confirm you have a plan.

📱 4. Save Travel Info on Your Phone

Keep everything handy — even offline:
✅ Flight ticket
✅ Hotel booking
✅ Passport photo (backup)
✅ Travel insurance or contact info

Pro tip: Take screenshots. Don’t rely on Wi-Fi or mobile data at the airport.

😊 5. Be Early, Stay Cool, and Keep Everything Together

Hong Kong airport is big, and immigration lines can get long during peak hours.

So:
🕐 Arrive early at the airport, especially if you’re connecting elsewhere
📂 Keep all your travel docs in one pouch or folder
😌 Stay calm, answer questions clearly, and be respectful

🥳 Pro Tip: Getting a Hong Kong eSIM can help you stay connected while traveling in Hong Kong.

  • 📆 When should I fill it out?

1 to 3 days before you land in Hong Kong. If you try too early (like 5 days before), it won’t work. Best to fill it out the night before your flight.
  • 🛃 What if I forget to fill it out?

You won’t be allowed through immigration until it’s done. There’s Wi-Fi at the airport, but it’s better to do it ahead of time — no one wants to stress after a long flight.
  • Do Filipinos need a visa to enter Hong Kong?

No visa needed for short visits up to 14 days for Philippine passport holders. But you still need to submit the Arrival Card.
  • 📅 I changed my travel date — do I need to fill out the form again?

Yes. If your arrival date changes, you’ll need to submit a new Arrival Card with the updated info. Only the latest submission will be valid.
