A Little Story Behind Disneyland

Hong Kong Disneyland

Walt Disney often spent Sundays with his daughters at the Griffith Park carousel in Los Angeles. While watching them enjoy the ride, he imagined creating a place where parents and children could have fun together. That idea eventually helped inspire the original Disneyland.

Hong Kong Disneyland is located on Lantau Island and currently has eight themed lands:

  • Main Street, U.S.A.
  • Adventureland
  • Fantasyland
  • Tomorrowland
  • Toy Story Land
  • Grizzly Gulch
  • Mystic Point
  • World of Frozen

Visitors can enjoy family attractions, exciting rides, character encounters, parades, stage performances, and the “Momentous” nighttime spectacular.

✈️ Pro Tip: If you are planning a birthday trip to Hong Kong Disneyland, book your flights from Manila to Hong Kong early for better fares and more schedule options, especially during weekends and school holidays.

First off, the room was exceptionally spacious and clean, and the hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. The transportation is convenient, with a shuttle bus directly to the park entrance, allowing for immediate entry or transfer to the Mickey Express. Outside the room, there's a beautiful garden and it's close to the long, clean, and picturesque seawall, perfect for photos. We booked without breakfast and simply ordered à la carte downstairs, which was more economical. Hotel guests have a dedicated park entrance, which saves a lot of time, but there's no early bird access unless you pay an extra HKD 199. The hotel's official check-in time is 3:00 PM. You can pre-check-in, and they'll assign your room number after 3:00 PM. They also provide hotel vouchers that can be used at the hotel's boutique. You can store your luggage after checking in but before getting your room number, and also store it after checking out. They even give you a souvenir room key. This souvenir room key allows you to re-enter the park; otherwise, you can't use the guest channel. This is handy because luggage storage at the park costs HKD 150. If you stay during your birthday month, you'll receive a badge and a small cake made of towels. Frozen Ever After and Grizzly Gulch are popular attractions, so expect longer queues, as well as Jungle River Cruise. If you enter early, you can rush to these first. Most other attractions have a queue time of around 20 minutes, which is quite acceptable. You can take photos with Disney princesses inside the castle. The light show starts at 8:15 PM, followed by the fireworks show at 8:30 PM, lasting until 8:50 PM. The Fairytale Gardens, directly facing the castle, is the best viewing spot. You'll need to secure a spot about an hour in advance because it gets extremely crowded.

Staying in a sea-view balcony room at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, I got both the ocean and fairy tales in one go! ✨ The vintage Victorian castle fairy-tale style really spoke to my inner child, and the room was full of little Mickey details, creating an amazing atmosphere. I absolutely loved the private balcony facing the South China Sea. I was hoping to catch the sunrise over the ocean in the morning and the sunset with the sea breeze in the evening – the open view was perfect for photos. Unfortunately, it poured rain the night we stayed at Disneyland and the next morning during our seven days in Hong Kong. The kids couldn't play in the outdoor pool, and I didn't get my wish of seeing the sunrise and sunset 🌅. It left a small regret, but I'll make up for it next time! The guest room with two large beds was spacious and had a bathtub, which was so therapeutic after a long day of playing. The tub was a bit small, though; I wonder how a tall, burly foreigner would manage to bathe in it. The hotel is 21 years old, and it's well-maintained, but some parts of the room do show their age. The hotel thoughtfully gifted us Donald and Daisy little towel animals. My husband and I are both rats in the Chinese zodiac 🐭, so it would have been even more perfect if they were Mickey and Minnie! Throughout our stay, there were gentle and thoughtful little details everywhere, making it a perfect Disney romantic family trip!

Unbeatable sea view, and it's super convenient with the Yijingwan Commercial Plaza downstairs for dining and shopping. The IKEA supermarket is very well-stocked. The room was comfortable, and the sea view room was absolutely amazing. The service was excellent, especially LEO at the front desk, who was super nice, provided great service, showed a personal touch, handled things flexibly, and was also very handsome. It was a truly stellar service experience!

Great location, about a 10-minute ride to Disneyland, with buses running every 10 to 15 minutes. The hotel provided vouchers, and since it was my birthday, I also received a birthday badge and a small gift. The room was very spacious, a twin sea view room with 1.35-meter beds, which were excellent. It also came with a universal adapter and a charging cable with three different connectors. The hotel environment is beautiful and offers many activities.
