Place is exceptional. Cleanliness, showers, toilets all available and really great quality.
Only down side was the distance if the weather was bad. I can't blame them as weather is uncontrollable, but it's pretty tough to be dragging heavy luggages over to and fro in the rain or snow. Else if it was slightly nearer to the food areas, it would have been spectacular, else it's perfect!
Super clean and well organized hostel. The staff are very friendly and the location is fantastic.
The only disadvantage for us was the light which was on all night and forced us to sleep with a sleeping mask.
The host was really nice and the amenities are great, the blanket was also so fluffy. The whole vibe was cozy and I would definitely love to stay here again if given the chance to.
They also provide free shuttle service to the JR Takayama station in the morning at 7:15, 8:15, 9:15.
Pure self-service remote check-in, convenient and flexible management mode. Although Airbnb is unmanaged, the overall facilities, hygiene, kitchen, lobby and other details are in place, bringing convenience and self-discipline to travelers.
The location is about 12 minutes' walk from the JR station, which is a bit far. It is very close to the morning market, Takayama Jinya, etc. If you are in a room with a river window, you can directly see the morning market, which is very convenient.
I used the guest house for the first time, but it was very clean, beautiful and the parking lot was close.
There is a kitchen, coffee is free, and the service is ◯
I think it's △ that it's a little difficult to understand how to enter the guest house and that the shower room is a little cramped for adult men.
But it's very affordable, so I would like to use it if I come nearby again!
Good value hostel in the centre of Takayama, only 5 minutes walking from the train station and Nohi bus stop. Even though there is no staff at the hostel, we met them at the reception at the main hotel nearby and we were explained everything in detail.
The hostel is spotless and has all spaces well organized. The showers at the first floor are completely new and are well equipped with so many toiletries available, even safety boxes and skin creams! The kitchen is well equipped too even though we only used the microwave. Our twin room was comfortable, we had clean sheets and towels, heating and hangers. The only downside I can think of are the thin walls, you can hear other guests downstairs too.
The price for two people per room was very reasonable, we could choose from the buffet breakfast, we had a good breakfast and could be active from the morning, the room was clean and neat, and there was nothing wasted. I would like to use it again.
A very nice place with a warm feeling, beginning with the kind staff. Gerard specially is a wonderful host. The kitchen is great, big and full equipped. I loved the small garden and the dinning or resting place full of board games. There is also a traditional Japanese stove to cook for rent. Location is good. If I need to name one disadvantage I could say that both the beds and floors are noisy while moving. I tried not to but every step or movement in the bed was heard. Of course, it’s an old house and makes sense but still is the only thing I could say, the rest perfect and 100% recommended. Even the other guests were all fun.
I accidentally booked a smoking room, but I slept well without any smell of cigarettes.
The front desk offers breakfast service in the morning, and although it's not a very large space, the kind-looking lady there asked me, ”Would you like chicken or bacon? *Do you want fried eggs? Can you eat tofu?” It was so comfortable that I felt like I was back at home, and the fried eggs were cooked to perfection. There were also small dishes lined up, as well as bread, coffee, milk, and orange juice. During breakfast, all the guests ate in silence, and there seemed to be more women than men.
I was looking for a cheap hotel near the station that didn't include meals, so I checked in early and left my key when I left, then returned to the hotel at 3:30 to leave my key and enter the room. There are vending machines for drinks and alcohol on the hotel grounds, and a convenience store nearby.
I would definitely like to use this hotel again.

DDuboisTristanThis place was absolute amazing! By far our favorite place from our whole trip. The location was absolutely perfect for the Takyama festival. We were literally right there with shops and street vendors 50 yards away and the parades would have been right there as well if they weren't canceled due to rain. The rooms were humble and traditional and really added to the experience. The tea in the room was exceptionally good and the traditional Japanese breakfast they served was also delicious and fun to eat. We didn't even know they had a legitimate hot spring on site, but they did! They are Japanese style baths so be ready for that, but the water was therapeutic and so relaxing. I cant recommend this place enough and I would absolute make it a point to visit Takyama and stay here again for a few days on our next trip to Japan. They were such great kind hosts. And I cant believe the price, what an great value. Do yourself a favor and stay here. I'm not sure why the other bad reviews are here I read some of them and they sound like entitled stupid American tourists so ignore them and stay here.
GGuest UserSimply an amazing stay. First trip to Japan and first ever stay at a Ryokan & was not disappointed. The mother & daughter (5th & 6th generation)hosts were super accommodating and felt very privileged that they had opened their Inn for solo travelers like myself to enjoy. The feeling of history at the Inn, felt almost like staying within a piece of living art. Ikebana display in the front display and Bonsai in the courtyard that are over 500 hundred years old, it made the whole experience an immersive one. The dinner and breakfasts were an experience that were perfectly executed. Of course local / home grown ingredients were the stars of these meals and every dish was tastier than the last. Thank you for making my stay feel comfortable and relaxed. Ena is one of the historical postal towns on the Nakasendo trail & recommend visiting and staying here if you are taking the less touristy route. とても思い出に残る滞在にしてくださった旅館のとても親切なスタッフに感謝します。
GGuest UserThe hotel is 15 minutes walk from the railway station bus stop, and the scenery along the way is beautiful. The hotel is run by several elderly people. It is already a 65-year-old hotel. Starting from the boss's grandfather, the house has a history of 125 years and is very Japanese. The ornaments in the house can be shot for an hour. There is a special doll, and I am fortunate to see the dolls of the boys' day. The old people are very enthusiastic, the breakfast is delicious, it is served by a Japanese grandmother. It is really like a grandmother in anime. It is very similar to talking and walking. The breakfast is very harmonious. I still remember the fish.

看看山看水看雲Excellent hostel. Just 3-4 mins away from the Takayama station. Easy to find. Very helpful staff who explained everything and answered all my queries. Two clean bedsheets n a clean pillow case given when checked in. The staff reminded me to sleep in between the two bedsheets, which was very reassuring. The single 'cabin' is spacious n clean. Didn't feel stuffy or itchy. Best hostel ever stayed.
