A business-style hotel so suited for short stays. Rooms comfortable but compact, especially for a couple. Shower room ok, but bedroom felt cramped. Location ok, midway between the station and port with a 30 minute each way. Several restaurants, shopping malls etc around.
I still want to use it
There was an abundant shampoo bar at the front desk, and I was able to try the shampoo I was interested in. The shampoo in the room was also DHC, so I was at a loss as to which one to use😁
Employees were also polite to customers
It was nice to be able to use the coin laundry for free since we were staying consecutive nights.
The hotel is right at the waterside and a new athletics park. The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. The food is very nice although the restaurant is missing some character. For a 3 star hotel there is plenty of amenities. Also good parking right in front of the hotel. Visitors are mostly elderly Japanese, few tourists from abroad. At the breakfast start, which is 06:30, the buffet was pretty overwhelmed and a bit understaffed. Maybe the buffet should be more spreads over the room. I would def recommend the hot. Yes
It was beautiful wherever I took a picture in the best location. I enjoyed various cocktails and shochu for dinner ♪ And at dinner, the seat was decided, but when I told him I wanted to eat on the terrace, he moved me willingly. The customer service of the employee is very good, and it becomes the decisive factor that wants to repeat.
Towels were placed in various places in the outdoors, and it was good to consider that footbaths and pools could be enjoyed immediately without going to the room to pick up towels. I want to go with my family again.
Splendid sea view from a beautiful, large, bedroom.
2 beds instead of one big. This could have been better to me.
Service is excellent. People are nice, always trying to help, being resourceful on how you may handle your visit of the island. Top notch people.
The real ”could be better” thing to me is, the restaurant that close really early (8.30pm if my memory is good), does server only buffet for 80kY.
The buffet is of quality mixing Japanese, Chinese and Western styles of food. And also comes with nice desserts.
However, having the choice to get only one A la carte dish could be a real plus. I personally do not want to get a full buffet for every and each of my diners.
And if you do not have a car, finding another place to eat may become a challenge. There is nothing around at a walking distance except a supermarket.
The breakfast is definitely qualitative. And if you intend to move early for visiting, the hotel can prepare you a breakfast and a lunch box for no overcharge. Basic but good and appreciated.
To have another plus, they serves a local craft beer made with local cedar trees. Quite a good and interesting one.
We love the ease of Check ln and Check Out, the friendly and helpful receptionist, the great customer service, the overall ambiance of the hotel, the amenities, but most of all, the location! It’s so convenient for us to go everywhere from this hotel as it’s the base for all public transport, i.e. trains of all types, buses, taxis, etc. Re: Amenities, the hotel should consider providing guests with Bath oils for bath during winter, as the weather is very cold and dry outside and the room air is even dryer with the heating system. As we are travelling with our 5 year-old son, we also wish they could provide us a child toothbrush and a suitable toothpaste for him too. These are just our constructive feedback for improvement, but we would still likely return to stay at this hotel if we visit Kagoshima.
We absolutely loved this stay and would recommend it to all travellers!
We booked the corner room. The room was well illuminated by natural light during the day and we could see the river from our room. At night we could even hear the water flowing. There were two western single beds but we asked for futons for the full Japanese experience and loved it! The room was spacious and clean. There was a bathtub in the bathroom but we used the public bath (male and female separated) which was amazing. The public bath was quiet and spacious and there was a sauna room. Breakfast was served during 7am -830am with a well set table as shown in the picture. The staff was super kind. Just note that the walls were thin and you should expect some noise but people here are generally used to keeping their voice down.
Another highlight is that you can take the bus of both the red and blue lines at the bus stop right in front of the hotel. (The blue line is for Shiratani Unsuikyo.). It is very convenient if you are not driving. The hotel is around 25 mins away from the ferry port and the walk there was pleasant and not difficult to find.
Yet another great thing about this place is that you can rent mountaineering gear here at a cheap price, including shoes and rain protection. We rented the shoes here at 1,xxx yen per person (forgot the exact price) and they were very useful. It was raining for almost the whole 5h hike for us and the shoes offered a good grip and were sufficiently waterproof. You can also find little souvenirs at their shop. Honestly, it's impeccable!
Tokunoshima was at the peak of sugar cane and potato harvest. There was a new potato petit gift at check-in at the hotel. It was a very warm feeling. Thank you.
Very clean place. Rooms quite small. Breakfast was great. Would recommend and stay here again.

GGuest UserEveryone is very friendly and it's nice at home.
The rice is very good and the beach is nearby, so it is perfect for spending a luxurious time.
This room is a wooden house with high ceilings and a touch of woody fragrance. The ceiling fan invites you to travel.
Taking a step to the balcony, the stars look very beautiful, and the sounds of various creatures come and go.
I feel that I have found something forgotten in my city life.
I want to live longer.
Thank you very much for picking up from the airport.
If you come to Ammei, please be sure to stay, I will recommend it.
SShawnThe location is superb, room was clean, spacious and with a nice balcony. The room provided all you need on a leisure trip.
The only downside was it was super complicated and time consuming to contact the hostel for entrance pin, check-in procedure and check-in number. We asked the front desk receptionist of our previous hotel to call the hostel number stated on trip.com booking confirmation email in morning, but no one picked up; called again at 3pm, and the hostel hotline said the number was wrong and referred us to call another number. If we did not have the assistance from a Japanese local receptionist from another hotel, I dont think we could get the entrance pin and check-in procedure information smoothly.
I recommend this hostel to Japanese local, or tourists with a Japanese mobile number to make calls/able to find assistance from Japanese local people.
AAnonymous UserCabin lodging, clean and fully equiped. You literally park right up your cabin, easy to get things from the car, load/unload luggage etc. Staff was lovely as well. There are 2 pharmacies (sells frozen food, daily necessities, cosmetics etc) just beside so it’s convenient to get snacks. Laundry room has 2 wash&dry machines. The nearby self service yakiniku (6mins drive) was delicious too. Hotel provides a frozen bento for each paid guest per night, simple to follow instructions to heat up in in-room microwave. Bed and bathroom were clean and new, it’s a good and comfortable stay. The area is however likely farmland so it smells abit like the zoo, but close the door and the room is perfectly alright, aircon is great too. Highly recommend. Location is not too out of the way, it is more suitable for road trips than touristy things.

AAnonymous UserBest hotel choice for location. Right in the centre of Tenmonkan. Plenty of food options and shopping. Even the airport shuttle stops directly at the hotel front (50m). It is walking distance (20min) to Kagoshima-chuo JR station, but if you choose tram or bus, the stop is also 100m away from the hotel. Setback is only the bath amenities as shaving foam, face wash and lotion is not provided (make sure you bring your own). Public bath is ok, has a sauna which is good. Check-in and out process is fully machine automated with a luggage storage section too at the side. Very easy. Breakfast service staff is very good, only four breakfast set choices if you purchase it as part of your room but quality is very good with local taste. I suggest you try at least once the breakfast if you stay here.
ひひみでIt's cheap and within walking distance from the station.
There are also convenience stores, bento shops, and general stores nearby.
I came with my 7 month old daughter.
There is also a diaper bag, microwave oven, stove,
There were also frying pans, cutlery, and plates.
I was able to enjoy baby food and milk just like at home without any stress.
It was wonderful.
I would definitely use it again. I really recommend it.
AAnonymous UserThe counter staff is friendly. The location is ideal, close to the central Kagoshima, very convenient. The sanitary environment is ideal and very satisfactory . The basic facilities are complete.
YYomingsssThe location is amazing. It is literally IN TRNMONKAN, across the street is the tram station that will take you to Kagoshima station and other places as well of course. Along the street is the bus station, it’s very very convenient. However, since it’s next to the tram station it can be slightly noisy but if you bring an earplug that should cancel the boise from the train. The room is small but good enough for a solo traveller like me. There’s no staff to attend you. Everything is self service. You check in and check out using the check in machine. It’s very convenient! Instructions are clear and straightforward. Enjoyed my stay here!
