Where to begin with this one?
Firstly i requested to cancel as i was coming down with COVID like symptoms. Ramada Telford seem to not mind that though, so that request was denied (no offer of another stay, or partial refund, nothing).
Felt better day of, and decided to travel. On check-in (nor on the website, photo attached) i wasn't told anything about the pool being out of service. Turns out it was. No offer of a full or partial refund. Nothing. Luckily, Trip have stepped in with a good will gesture.
Spoke to some people (named below) by email afterwards and basically told ”nothing they can do” and ”it's trip's fault” that the website didn't reflect that their pool had been out of action since DECEMBER.
Awful customer service, facilities not available. AVOID AVOID AVOID!
Specifically bad service via email: Lis Frost & Richard Bowen
Decent location for one night stopover. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Room pretty basic but all okay for what we paid.
Downfall was the noise early morning, being woken to trucks beeping and reversing at 7am on a Sunday isn't my idea of a good night's sleep (which is all we really needed, this was the followed by trolleys clanking and banging, so think this is a real downfall to what should have been a nice little stopover.
I advised the receptionist and she said it was the deliveries....which I understand are needed ....but not 7am on Sunday surely and if so some more thought for those sleeping.
Sadly this affected my overall rating as really you pay to have a good sleep but I didn't get that.
I stayed here with 2 others for 2 nights to attend an event. It was perfect for our needs. Very nice room that was exceptionally clean and a fantastic walk-in shower. Having lots of parking and being near lots of shops and restaurants was very helpful. It was very easy to walk to places I needed to be. Breakfast was good! Nothing exceptional but the continental selection did the job and despite limited hot food I could still make myself some nice bacon sandwiches. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Very affordable and would definitely stay again!
I only booked for one night to break our journey to North Wales from London, so my expectations were not that high, I just wanted a bed for the night.
The location was within walking distance from Shrewsbury station, down a small alley off the main shopping street. I didn't realise it would get quite noisy, and there was actually a band playing in the pub the night of our stay - our room was directly above it! So we went to bed late! For some this could've been a disaster, but saw the funny side and at least the band were playing songs I liked, and I travelled with ear plugs so did manage to get to sleep. The room was well equipped, comfortable & clean besides this.
I had booked breakfast but due to not realising what time it would start from and having to be on an early train, actually couldn't stay for it. To compensate the lady who checked us in kindly offered to make us lunch instead, so we had some sandwiches, nuts, crisps and snacks from the bar to take with us, which I appreciated, as I was travelling with my young son.
Very historic hotel. The parking lot is right next to the hotel, but remember that if there is a car parked in the parking lot, you need to tell the front desk the license plate number, so you can enjoy a discount of 5 pounds a day, otherwise it will be counted by the hour.
It is a brilliant experience. The hostel is near the museum and also Victoria Village.
Be aware of the check-in time in Winter as it is an hour later than the closure of the nearest by museum.
Stayed here for a 50th birthday celebration locally and so glad we did, the room was wonderfully located with beautiful views over Dale-End park and the river Severn.
It was booked room only due to commitments so couldn’t comment on the food but the staff were very friendly and helpful and would highly recommend this hotel.
We asked for a quiet room and were given one at the front on the main road which was anything but quiet, the room did not live up to the pictures and needed some work, but it was reasonably priced and servicable. We didn't eat here but our drinks on the first night was almost £12 for a large gin and a pint, that was with a 10% discount as we were staying there.
The cons were not enough to warrant a complaint but we wouldn't book here again
Very good quality and cheap, the room is large and the facilities are complete. Clothes can also be ironed.

WWAIThe post code given on the hotel address did not lead us to the Hotel. It was difficult to find as it was inside an estate. The hotel is not close to the road. The sign at the road entrance is not very prominent. When arriving at the hotel, the building looks like a manor of some royalties which was quite impressive. Check in was smooth but there wasn't a lift and we had to haul our heavy luggage up a couple flight of stairs and through narrow corridors. No porters or conceige to help was a bit annoying. The breakfast was standard full english breakfast which was as expected. Lawn areas and many big trees around the hotel does provide a relaxing feel. There is a separate building that houses the pool and gym. This facility was not exclusive for hotel guest and open to people who join their club. Unfortunetely on the day of my stay, there were many people there and so I gave it a miss.

GGuest UserA lovely hotel with a beautiful view and very quiet area for a good night's sleep. The beds are very spacious and comfortable; the best night sleep I have had in a long time. A great size shower with a seat to suit guests with accessible needs. The shower products smell great and leave your skin feeling smooth. The breakfast was very nice with many different options. I opted for a hot breakfast which was buffet style with unlimited apple and orange juice. The night light was perfect for late night reading. I would definitely come back

SSheryl AnnLovely building, very good service and in a quiet but convenient location for Wem High St.
Lovely breakfast with plenty of choice.
I had a single room overlooking the beautiful grounds. The room and en-suite were a little tired and could do with a refresh but the bed was comfortable and the room spacious and full of Georgian character.
The duvet weight was too heavy for summer so I slept under a throw with the window open as it was a very warm night. The staff were helpful and attentive. The Old Rectory is good value and I would stay there again.
GGuest UserAwful nights sleep! People talking really loud outside reception early hours of the morning, weren’t told to be quiet at all by staff. Fire alarm went off firstly at 2:38am! No staff to be seen in evacuation point, other guests also wondering what’s going on. Fire door wedged open with fire extinguisher. Alarm went off for a second time; no reassurance from staff. Could smell paint fumes very strongly. Told this morning when complained to reception that the workers were decorating through the night and the fumes and dust set the alarms off.
