I had a truly wonderful stay at this retreat. The place itself is absolutely spectacular — very calming, beautifully maintained, and surrounded by breathtaking views. The deck is stunning, and it was the perfect spot to relax and unwind.
The owners were exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and looked after throughout my stay. Their hospitality genuinely stood out. The dogs were lovely and added so much warmth to the experience. Breakfast was excellent, and the variety of teas available was out of this world.
As a female solo traveller, I felt completely safe, comfortable, and well cared for, which is something I value highly. The atmosphere is peaceful and nurturing — exactly what you want from a retreat.
The only minor downside is that it’s a bit far from the shops (around a one-hour walk). However, this was easily managed as Uber is only a 6-minute drive, and the hosts were also kind enough to offer lifts when possible.
Overall, an absolutely stunning place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable stay
We chose the Hilton again for our trip to Queenstown, New Zealand. While it's not right in the town center, transportation is super convenient. The hotel has its own water taxi that goes to and from the center daily. The first boat leaves at 8:15 AM, and then it's hourly after that. It costs 14 NZD per person and takes about 25 minutes. The last return trip is at 9:45 PM, and there's a timetable available at the front desk. The hotel is also only a ten-minute drive from the airport.
The hotel's setting and views are absolutely beautiful, right on the lake. You can take a lovely stroll along the lakeside in the mornings, and the restaurant is right there, so you can enjoy the lake view while you eat. The hotel has a Western restaurant, a bar and restaurant, and a coffee shop. The breakfast buffet is served in the Western restaurant and opens at 6 AM, which is great for guests who want to get an early start on their sightseeing. The food selection is comprehensive and tasty too! We had dinner at the Western restaurant on our first night and it was excellent, the steak was fantastic! The bar and restaurant is also good; on our last day, we got back late from our Milford Sound tour and just ordered pizza and beer at the bar. The pizza was absolutely delicious! The bar atmosphere was great too!
We booked a lake view king room, and the layout was nice, with full amenities. The hotel also has a pool, and the gym is open 24 hours. All in all, our stay and dining experience were very comfortable! Highly recommended!
Unfortunately, my stay was not very comfortable. The soundproofing is very poor, and there is a nightclub nearby that plays very loud music late into the night, making it difficult to sleep. For those who drive, can park on the roadside across the street for free after 6pm. In addition, the shower water pressure was very low, which was disappointing.
The room was very clean, and the shared kitchen area was decent. However, the laundry room was really dirty! It felt like it hadn't been maintained in ages, and you needed to pay with Apple Pay. The toilets weren't super clean either, but for a campsite, it was actually pretty good. Definitely bring slippers! The lake nearby is even better than Lake Wanaka, and there were lots of campervans, so it had a lively atmosphere.
The place is quite good, right next to the airport, and it's its own little community. The room we booked had excellent facilities, the only downside was that the windows couldn't be opened. Although there was a kitchen, many things in it were dirty. Other than that, the overall experience was decent.
However, on the first day, our sheets were dirty. Both the top sheet and the one underneath had many oil-like stains. We even found unwashed bloodstains. Since we discovered it late, there was no way to get them changed that day. We reported it to the front desk on the second day. The front desk agreed to change them for us and apologized. But that was all – just an apology.
On the third day, there was no cleaning service, which is standard for most hotels. Therefore, I gave the service one star because there was absolutely no service at all.
The hotel charged service fees and forcibly deducted money from the credit card.
Our family had dinner at the hotel. The hotel waiter thought we were foreigners and didn’t speak good English, so the bill was wrong. After we checked the prices one by one, they changed it.
I booked this hotel because I was interested in its restaurant.
To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed. First, we were given a room on the first floor facing the parking lot. The room was small, and you had to keep the curtains fully drawn; otherwise, with the floor-to-ceiling windows, you'd be exposed to everyone in the parking lot. The hotel itself isn't very large; its main appeal is the beautiful view from the restaurant, but there's a large construction site below that really detracts from the experience.
The hotel has a great design aesthetic, and the scented shower gel smells wonderful. However, it probably fell a bit short of my expectations, and I found the value for money to be just okay (it really was quite expensive).
Btw, breakfast was delicious!
Clean and tidy, warm service. The hotel is small with only nine small houses, good privacy. There is Ms. Bella who speaks Chinese, very warm. The hotel can pick you up in the town, and a taxi from the town is only about 15 yuan. It is a very good hotel suitable for vacation, lying flat in the hotel. The weather has been bad these days, and I only saw the stars in the sky one night. Anyway, it is a very good resort hotel.
Hotel with nice history, beatiful garden and relax zone.
In the hotel you can find bar and restaurant with nice food and fireplace. For guests is also available hot tub.
Room itself was small, with very old tv and basic facilities. It would be nice if the windows are clean also from outside because having birds dropping decrease guests general feeling about the room.
Despite what’s advertised one should beware some misleading info.
We expected a king size bed in the kings deluxe unit but the bed was closer to a Queen.
More disappointing was the promise of a “kitchen” only to be presented with an outdoor BBQ grill, microwave, toaster, kettle, plates, bowls and a mini fridge. Absent were pots, pans, a hob and we were told at check in not to do any washing as there was no sink. To be fair, a breakfast basket of breads was provided with jams but it was certainly not a kitchen. When we raised the issue of different advertising with our host, we received neither clarifications nor any sympathy.
Otherwise, it was lovely stay.
