"It satisfied all my fantasies about Japanese hot spring hotels.
Facilities: We booked an ordinary Japanese-style room with a bathroom, but there was actually a window, but the view was different. The room was considered large in Japan, but the door was a bit small, so there was no place to spread out the suitcase.
Environment: When I went there, the male and female hot spring baths had been changed, so I only experienced one. There was a large bath, a small bath, and an open-air bath, but the most comfortable one was the indoor bath, with the most suitable water temperature. There is no private bath that can be reserved, but it is better to go later. If you are lucky, you can get a private bath experience.
Service: Very good. The hotel has a car to connect Yudanaka Station to the hotel, but it will be after 2 pm. There is also a route to the Snow Monkey Park, but there is no route back from the park. The hotel is very good. When we just arrived at the hotel, we found that our bag was left at the station. The staff pulled me back to the station to get the bag. I was the only one in the car, and it was a complete chartered car experience.
Breakfast and dinner were very rich, and it can be seen that they were made with care, but I don’t like to eat raw food, so I just experienced it and didn’t taste anything different. There was also beef on the day I ate there, and there were many dishes, so it doesn't matter if you don't eat any of them. If you have enough budget, I still recommend trying it! ! ! You can feel the traditional Japanese dining"
"⭐Geographical location:
Yudanaka Hot Spring is relatively close to Jigokudani Monuen, a 20-minute walk from the station. It should be noted that you can pick up the station before 5 pm. We arrived at 5:30, but the boss said we could not pick up. Although the distance is not long, it still takes a while to walk on the mountain road. You can also take a bus, which runs every half an hour.
⭐Service:
There are two shopkeepers serving you, and their attitude is very good. They will help you deliver your luggage to the coffee shop next to the station when you travel the next day. It should be noted that if you check in after 3 pm, you will not be able to make calls in the morning. I left something in the room. No one answered the phone after three calls. In the end, I had to go to the store to get it again.
⭐Facilities:
The room layout is relatively simple and the facilities are relatively simple. To be honest, the heating is relatively small and it is a bit cold at night. There is no shower room and toilet, and the sink only has cold water. Shower rooms and hot springs need to be charged separately, 500 yen. Public toilets (all small Japanese-style hotels are like this) are very clean, because there are few rooms and few guests, and you have never touched anyone else in the toilet. Anyway, the price/performance ratio is pretty good.
⭐Meals:
Our order included dinner and breakfast, but the portions were small and not enough to fill us up. When we got out of the station, we had to remember to buy some food from Lawson. There are no convenience stores in the hot spring street! Mineral water is not provided, and there is an additional charge of +100yen.
⭐Hot spring:
You can soak in 9 soups on the street, but there is only one key, so you have to go there separately. The private soup shop in the store is in B1. It is relatively simple, has a lot of moisture, and is not very clean. It is recommended to go to the public soup house. Although the boss said that there is no place to take a bath in the public bath, so you can only buy a private bath + shower, which is a bit embarrassing."
"I feel like I need to write a short essay to match the evaluation of the hotel's service, beautiful scenery, and food. First of all, the service is very enthusiastic, and the first impression is a plus. It was almost 6 o'clock in the evening when we came to Yudanaka Station from Nagano, and we couldn't get a taxi. Because we didn't make an appointment for the hotel to pick us up, we called the hotel with the idea of trying it and asked if we could pick it up. The hotel immediately agreed to pick us up. The staff at the front desk of the hotel were very good and gave us a detailed introduction to the facilities and services of the hotel and the room. When we met the staff on the road, we would also greet them politely and enthusiastically. The uncle in the restaurant always had a smile and served very thoughtfully, and he knew some Chinese. Secondly, the hotel's food and beautiful scenery, the set meal is exquisite, delicious and filling, and taking pictures is even more suitable for Chinese people who want to make films in their lifetime. Soaking in the hot springs and watching the snowflakes flying all over the sky, the fatigue brought by a day's special forces trip was cured. More feelings need to be experienced by yourself in the hotel. In short, I recommend this hotel very much. I will come again during the cherry blossom season. In addition, the hotel is very close to the Mara bath and walks a few dozen meters."
"Very nice place and wonderful service. Due to heavy snowing, we were late but they waited for us patiently. We supposed missed the dinner time but they were very friendly and considerate and everything were well prepared when we arrived under heavy snow with an empty stomach. They concered our safety over all other issues and gave us a very warmly welcome. The private onsen is free of charge and they offered the most juicy apples in the world for all you can eat!! A warmly and friendly hotel, definitely worth to visit especially if you are planning to visit the snow monkey. (5 mins car, 20 mins walk)"
"I saw many Japanese elderly couples, girlfriends, and many students coming here to play. The hotel is very old, the air conditioner squeaks, there are some mosquitoes, and the refrigerator is sometimes good and sometimes bad. It was normal on the first day, but on the second day, all the fruits we bought were frozen into hard ice. But the hygiene is OK. You can see that they are trying their best to maintain it. In addition to the public hot springs, there are two private hot springs, Xing and Yue, which can be reserved by guests. There is free oden in the rest area every afternoon, which is very heartwarming. The breakfast is also good and very rich. In addition, Nagano and Shijiazhuang are friendly cities. Table tennis is very popular here, and there are table tennis balls in the lounge. The hotel is very close to Yudanaka Station, a two-minute walk, and is generally recommended."
"We were there in February, it was minus outside, but the room had a heater and air conditioning. Not frozen. The hotels have three onsens, one shared for men, one for women and one private. They also give you the key to 9 public onsens in the village. The hostess can pick you up or take you to the nearest station, she also took us to dinner and to Monkey Park. Breakfast is traditional. And in general, the hotel is traditional Japanese, I advise anyone who is interested in staying in a traditional hotel. But keep in mind that you need to sleep on the tatama and wear slippers, they are not allowed in the shower, and you also need to wash in the onsen."
"This was my first time staying in this area, but the landlady was very polite and explained everything in detail, which was very helpful.
The indoor and outdoor baths were very comfortable, and it was a very satisfying hot spring trip.
Dinner and breakfast were also delicious, and I was very satisfied.
The location (cobblestone road) was attractive, as it allowed me to experience the atmosphere of a hot spring town. There are nine outdoor baths, and I regret that I was unable to visit them all."
"Our family made a special trip from Tokyo to Nagano, and besides exploring the surrounding attractions, watching the snow monkeys soaking in the hot springs of Nozawa, and visiting the Togakushi Shrine, the highlight of this trip was staying at Issa no Komichi Biyu no Yado.
Initially, we had modest expectations, thinking of it as just another experience. However, upon arriving in the snowy Yudanaka Shibu Onsen, we were immediately impressed by the warm and professional hospitality. From the thoughtful reception to the exquisite dinner and the unique public onsen, every aspect exceeded our expectations and left us pleasantly surprised. This wasn’t just a hotel stay—it was an unforgettable journey into the heart of Japanese onsen culture.
If you’re planning a trip to Nagano, this is definitely a place worth visiting to experience the perfect blend of hot springs and nature!"

"Superb services. All staff are very friendly. This roykan has real jap traditional courses. The town itself can close to nothing with one or two expensive restaurants target foreigners. But you come here just for onsen and relax. Onsen itself ok but not the great."
"Excellent onsen river. Very delicious kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast. Location is excellent walking half an hour from the station and half an hour to the monkey park. You can visit 9 public baths for free. Onsen in the hotel is small but very hot, dilute cold water, otherwise you can get raw. Staff foreigners who speak excellent English. The view from the window room above the recipe comes to the famous river. Sinks and toilets are common, but all next to the rooms. The price is excellent. Very recommended."

Great
GGuest UserWe came to Shiga Plateau for skiing, we have been to Yudanaka four times, and we have lived in 8 different homestays. Daimaru House is the best one:
A The boss's English is good, there is no problem with communication (the boss is not good);
B There is a bathroom in the room, which is very convenient (most of the bathrooms in the homestay are shared and inconvenient)
C In the hot spring town, eating is very convenient;
D Going out is the station, it is convenient to go skiing on the mountain;
E Indoor and outdoor hot springs are large and powerful;
F The boss is very nice and provides pick-up/send-off/go to snow monkey park service (this is very important in Tangtianzhong, some homestays do not provide it)
In a word, come to Shiga Plateau skiing, choose Daimaru House is right!
CChuree WungWe are very impressed with the hotel service.The hotel makes travel convenient and smooth.There are pick-up and drop-off fromYudanaka Station to the hotel and drop-off at Monkey onsen.The hotel is in the good location,in the heart of Shibu Onsen, beutiful view of the mountian and river in front.The beer, white and red wine in the refrigerator in the room are free.The onsen is not very big but clean.Dinner and breakfast are fresh and delicious. Shibu Hotel is a very good hotel,worth staying.
AAnonymous UserIt's a 10 mins walk uphill from train station so maybe better to try to contact them for a complimentary pick up.
The place is super grand and 2 onsens. A Instagram worthy one that the males and females get to use it at different timings. The shower stuff in the onsen are mediocre though. No fancy facial stuff for women unlike some other onsens at this price range.
We had breakfast and dinner for the 2 nights. And well worth it. But you have to follow a fixed timing and we felt a bit rushed but otherwise it was really great and service perfect.
We had one the biggest rooms I believe Room 716. Had a sitting area and also a sleeping area. Easily fits 8 persons. We were only 2. In the day they kept the futons and brought it out at night. Towels changed every night.
There is a van that goes straight to Mount Yokoteyama ski resort. The receptionist didn't seem to know about it but you could try to Google. It was a complimentary ride to and fro if you bought the lift tickets. Took only like 30 mins to get there. You can get rentals at hotels there.
EElinaNikIt was brilliant!
It is the same with pictures on this site.
They gave me yukata and towel and changed it every day. I had a tea and enjoyed it on my balcony. I tried a futon at first time in my life.
I had my own reserved table for breakfast.
❗❗❗The hotel has its own bus with driver, which took me to the Snow Monkey Park and to the station for free!
Actually staff was so polite! It is seems like you are someone important.
Actually the only one minus that you can't go to all 9 Shibu Onsen's baths, but just to 9th bath only. But the hotel has its own bath even open-air.
It was really nice and comfortable accommodation.
GGuest UserLocated just within 3min from Yudanaka station, Raki Onsenryokan is run by a Chinese family. As a quiet town on its own, no one was tending to the reception when I arrived, after ringing the bell, a lady came down to help with the check in - very straightforward. I believe the family stays in the same building as they said if we ever needed anything, we could just ring the bell at the reception. Obviously I had booked a room too big for a solo traveller as this was the only room left as ”non-smoking”. Toilet and sink are at two different parts of the room which was a little inconvenient. Ryokan offers free drive (15min) TO snow monkey park, but not return, so please cater at least 35min to walk from park exit to the bus stop. Ryokan also provided a hearty breakfast, overall for the price paid it was a decent stay!
BBlooming SpringA hidden gem - definitely worth recommending.
The location is close to station, and walking distance to convenient store.
Staff are very nice and friendly, the food is also delicious. We had two dinners at the hotel; one night sukiyaki and another night shabu shabu. Nutritious, fresh and tasty.
Thank you so much for the stay- we love it!
LLONGFUIt’s the photos taken by mobile phones inside and outside the store. The small hotel run by the old couple is not far from the Yudanaka tram terminal. In the town of hot springs, it’s good to have a 24-hour hot spring bathhouse. The owner is very good. Gentle was able to personally drive us to the foot of the mountain in the Wild Monkey Park to see the monkeys washing in the hot springs. It is a lot more convenient for us. Shared toilets are the place I am least used to, but overall I am satisfied.
KKheng Hua TanShiga no yu is all about attentive, good hearted, genuine good service. We loved the 70s vibe of the place. It is charming 70s style all the way. The meals provided were wonderful! Great portions, taste and variety! Each meal was different! The onsen was perfect at the end of each muscle weary day from skiing. Dont expect top of the range ski rentals so if that’s important to you, bring your own. But if not, just enjoy the intimate style of the place and the many ski hills to explore starting with the chair lift right outside the hotel’s door!
PPangI am from Hong Kong, but I did not stay in this hotel. Originally I booked Villa Ichinose, but 3 days before departure I received an email from Villa Ichinose saying that due to a problem with the room's machinery, they would arrange to move me to another hotel called Mount Shiga. I stayed in a tatami room in that hotel and there were no chairs. After skiing all day, I had to sit on a mattress on the ground to rest. I need an extra pillow to make my lower back more comfortable. When I opened the door where the pillows and quilts were placed and took out a pillow, I was stunned. The pillow was dirty, full of saliva stains, yellow and moldy. I believe it hadn't been cleaned for at least a month to be so dirty and noticeable. Such sanitary conditions make me very uneasy. I took pictures of the pillow and room key to prove it. My main point is that the person in charge of Villa Ichinose should not have transferred me to a very old and unhygienic hotel. I can't comment on other aspects because I didn't stay there. But the location is very good, right next to the Ichinose bus stop, and the hotel environment is nice (because I was going to this hotel to pick up my snowboard bag, so I went in to take a look).
