Hotels in Shanghai South Railway Station Area, Shanghai

We were in town for a concert with my child, and the hotel staff proactively called us beforehand to confirm our check-in details. We arrived at the hotel around 11 PM, and the front desk staff were incredibly quick with the check-in process, which was a huge relief after a long day of travel! Moving on to the room, we had a river view room this time. It was quite spacious and impeccably clean. For example, the electric kettle was spotless, inside and out – no water stains whatsoever. This really matters to someone like me who's a bit particular about cleanliness. The bedding was very comfortable, and the mattress was perfect, offering just the right amount of support without being too soft. Finally, I have to give a special shout-out to the breakfast. I honestly didn't have high expectations, but the breakfast at MGM Shanghai truly blew me away! Unlike the standard, often unremarkable breakfasts at many star hotels, the selection here was incredibly rich and diverse. They had a live noodle station (the scallion oil noodles are a must-try!), freshly prepared seafood congee, and preserved egg and lean pork congee – all tasting absolutely delicious. Especially when compared to another five-star hotel we stayed at the very next day, even my daughter couldn't help but exclaim, 'I really miss MGM's breakfast!'

The hotel is dated, so a lot of the amenities have been thoroughly used. The lockers and changing area for the swimming pool is very old and disgusting. The pool is very nice still though. The workout room is old but very useful. The room itself is nice but once again, showing its age. If you are ok with dated hotels, but still great service, you will love this hotel. If you want to pay the same price but just get updated everything try a newer hotel. Also if you think it’s near the train station… it’s still about a 10-15 min walk from it. If it’s hot or raining, you will suffer a bit. Metro stop is relatively close.

I was headed to AI Tower area, this location is fantastic. It is just a short walk away. The entrance starts with a book shop cafe and the hotel lobby is located on the second floor. There are a number of different room type and facing. My room faced a building under construction next door but it is quiet. Probably account for the reasonable cost of the room. Wash basin waste water cannot be properly drained which was feedback to the staff. Waterfront area in the evening is quite happening with many F&B options. The staff is helpful and friendly. They provided a late checkout at 2pm. Will I book it again ? Absolutely.

Very new hotel with great amenities and decent breakfast. Close to shops, dining and metro station. Loved the free self laundry facilities which had notifications via WeChat to let you know when clothes are washed/dry. Friendly staff and great services. Only downside was the building wide central air conditioning which was turned up a bit high for our liking.

Very beautiful hotel and the lobby smell was amazing. The little robot butler is always a plus, comfortable beds, awesome smart toilet, and the cleaning ayi was great! The only con is the limited English of the staff.

Considering the price, it's one of the better options in the vicinity. Parking is available right outside (free, but subject to availability), or you can park at the Grand Skylight Hotel's lot, which is about 100 meters away. There's a convenience store and a beef noodle shop right downstairs. It's also quite close to the Shanghai Botanical Garden, perfect for a morning stroll during summer. Facilities: There's a microwave in the common area, which is very convenient. The mini-fridge in the room even has a small freezer compartment, not just a cooler. Service: The receptionist was very patient and friendly on the phone.

Really good days in the hotel. It is very near to the south train station and also there is a metro station together, so it was very easy to go the Bund and other places. The hotel is very new and the staff is very friendly. The staff helped me in everything. I recommend this hotel.

I was very satisfied with my stay! The front desk ladies were very friendly, welcoming, and efficient. They always had a friendly smile. The hotel's location is also very convenient, with good transportation nearby, making travel stress-free. The room was very well-equipped and clean. There's also a gym and laundry room on the 10th floor. The front desk lady was very considerate and helped with laundry and delivered it to the room. It was excellent, and the hotel environment was beautiful. I would stay here again.

I booked this hotel because I was going to visit the graves during the Qingming Festival. I booked this hotel because it was close to the South Station. I found out that the shower head in the bathroom was broken when I was taking a shower at night. It was too late and I couldn't ask the waiter to fix it. I could only hold it in my hand.

The ambiance is lovely, and the service is top-notch. Upon arrival, the front desk staff were incredibly helpful, even driving down to assist us. Our room was wonderfully bright, offering a beautiful distant view of Taihu Lake. Breakfast the next morning was also a delightful spread of Wuxi specialties. I would definitely consider staying here again on my next visit to Wuxi.
