When I returned to China to visit my parents, I stayed in Baolongju Changxing store by chance. Thank you very much for being taken care of by the hotel staff during the epidemic. Due to the Shanghai epidemic, the area where the hotel is located was under control, and the surrounding restaurants and takeaways were temporarily closed. During this period of time, Xiao Sun, the person in charge of the front desk, found a way to contact me with a box lunch supplier, and sometimes even took care of me to use staff meals. Due to the epidemic, the ground transportation in Shanghai was restricted. The hotel manager Lu coordinated with various parties to help me leave Shanghai on time, and finally drove me to the airport in person. This experience moved me very much. The hotel staff I have come into contact with are very polite and willing to help guests. During this special period, the management of this hotel is still very professional and humane. Next time I have a chance, I hope to stay again.

Research always located in a heart of Shanghai right near the Nanjing pedestrian Street. Absolutely 10 out of 10 full location when approaching the hotel you can see that it is and obviously very old Building however it does have refurbished room so be careful which ones you book I indeed booked a refurbished room and it was quite New important to know that the rooms are quite small so if you have certain requirements for the size of the room, please take that into consideration. I would stay here again however it is not the most luxury hotel by any means the breakfast buffet is very average and located towards Chinese people and does not have many foreign options.

Our family had stayed 2 rooms for 3 nights on the 27-30, Dec 2024. Our stay were memorable and amazing. The rooms were so clean with very nice view, the breakfast line were delicious and has many variety of food both western and Chinese. The staffs were the most impressive, they could speak very good english and very friendly. The duty manager is very helpful too. I forgot the souvenir which was the Chinese embroidered traditional fan and just realized when I got back home, the duty manager was very enthusiastic and putting a lot of efforts in getting the forgot item back to me. Thank you so much, I’m really impressed and highly appreciated your hard work and kindness.

This is the 3rd stay of ours since June when we actually did stay twice. Being impressed therefrom, we decided to stay again in this impressive hotel this time. Location is excellent and so are the services in general. All staff are friendly and helpful. For a small hotel, the room is pretty big! The breakfast buffet was impressive but what was inconvenient were the stairs in between rooms. However being a heritage building it is understandable as they tried to keep most of the facets. The staff were extremely helpful with my luggage and I noticed a majority of them were female! I felt safe and taken care of here as a solo female traveler!

It was useful that trip tells you the size of the beds so that you can determine whether they’re big enough to share with children. Lots of the hotels say that children can stay free, but the beds are no way big enough. The shanghai garden hotel has 2x 1.2m single beds in a standard room, which is considered a small double in the uk, and was comfortable for my family of 4. We visited the swimming pool during our stay and it was very refreshing. Be advised it is mandatory to wear swim cap. Which will have to be purchased if you don’t have it. Breakfast was vast, lots of choice of Chinese, Japanese and western style. We particularly enjoyed 混沌汤, 点心。 Disappointed with the 包子, 生煎包 - which didn’t really have much filling, flavour, and 油条 - which wasn’t fluffy felt it was cooked from frozen. Particularly annoying when we were asked to pay the high full price for our small 12 year old and half price for 7 year old, rather than by height which is what other hotels do. They hardly ate anything! Consider being more family friendly!

The room is a little dark and the amenities has to be self requested. They don’t have a robot to deliver your food to the room unlike other hotels. Other than that, great front door concierge service. Those mens in brown coat & women in red are very helpful and nice. Thank you for collecting all my parcels and I enjoyed my stay, thanku!

The location of the hotel is fantastic and highly convenient. However, it seems the hotel lacks sufficient experience in accommodating families. As a family of three, we requested an extra bed for our room but were disappointed to learn that none were available. After three nights, we were informed that beds had become available, but upon returning to our room, no bed was provided. This highlighted a significant communication issue among the staff. On a positive note, the hotel staff (especially the manager in service department) took responsibility for their mistakes, offering sincere apologies and compensations such as a room upgrade and complimentary lounge access. I appreciated their efforts to address the situation and make amends. Eventually, we did receive the extra bed during the final nights of our stay, provided free of charge as part of their apology. While I understand that mistakes can happen, I hope the hotel improves its internal communication and service delivery. With its excellent location and amenities, it has great potential to cater not only to business travelers but also to families seeking a pleasant and hassle-free stay.
