MaxX By Steigenberger on the Bund Shanghai is located on the banks of the Huangpu River, the 23-storey hotel’ appearance featues Art Deco in the 1930s. It is not only closely related to the century-old buildings nearby, but also has witnessed the histories of China's shipping development and port construction

The hotel staff, 李虹 is very friendly and helpful. First, she upgraded our room to the larger one and provided Shanghai metro information when we were going out right after we checked in.
And later on the last night, she offered to book a bigger online taxi since mostly Didi are sedans in China. Good job 👍🏼 💯.
The hotel provides free flow hot tea and peanuts at the lobby 👍🏼.
The breakfasts were good. I must say that their cakes are really good. Wontons also are nicely done. Extra breakfast will be changed RMB 58/person.
Although we were upgraded to a larger room, it turned out not as large as the one we stayed at Suzhou Crystal Orange. And the bathroom was really slippery, might need to be brushed.
From hotel to the closest metro, Fanrong Road is more or less five to seven minutes walk depending on walking speed. Unfortunately, the hotel location is very far from the city, almost 45-50 minutes to main shopping or sightseeing destination.
Next to the hotel, there is a local Chinese restaurant (Chuan) which serves fresh fish meals, which is recommended.
Another interesting thing is that the hotel provides free daily shuttle to and fro Shanghai Disneyland (30minutes traveling time). Two trips in the morning (7AM and 8AM) and another two in the evening (lastest one is 10PM).
Despite the location, this hotel is recommended.
This Kimpton hotel is really-really cool: opened in September’23, it has fresh amenities, sleek contemporary design, beautiful scenery from the upper decks and remarkable dine & drink options. The staff is friendly and helpful, with fair level of English, which is not that common even in Shanghai.
Rooms have spacious bathrooms, high-tech control system and comfy bed with orthopedic (!) pillows. The surrounding areas are fresh from the reconstruction, conveying nice Singapore-style staycation feel - great choice even for those living in Shanghai.
The only major area of concern was the pool.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a really beautiful rooftop pool at a scenic spot of Huangpu river, but it’s regulated by the most ridiculous rules you can possibly think of.
First, there is no service by the pool, so forget about the joy of having a coffee, a cold beer or a juice at your sunbed. There’s a forced shower at the entrance which cannot be turned off - protecting your phone an belongings would require agility. And the most stupid of all - you must wear a swimming cap even if you don’t dive. There is no information of it ahead of check-in, so you can either rent a cap at the place, or enjoy the pool in observer’s mode if they’d ran out of those (happened to us).
Having stayed at over 30 hotels across all China, it was the first time I met regulations like that.
It’s not a sports pool, where caps and absence of service could be assumed. It’s a really nice rooftop leisure pool, beautifully furnished and with pleasant soundtrack. Well, could have been. Dear Administration, please benchmark the other hotels in town. A properly serviced rooftop pool is not just a source of joy for your guests, it’s also a revenue stream for the business.

A little challenging to find the entrance. A big sign outside and a big ”A” is apparent. What is not apparent is the entrance or elevator to the entrance. Very poor signage. I went into the restaurant right next to the sign and was told ”no hotel here.” Walked around with luggage and was assisted by a guard who helped me find the entrance. Didi driver could also not find hotel for pick up delaying a business meeting, so not the easiest spot to find or exit. Room was originally too small but I paid a little more for a larger room. Had air con issues, (seems to occur often in the mainland for me), and was able to open the window but it didn't help. The next day I closed the window and it did seem to cool down to HK or Western air con levels, not 80F. Staff spoke no English but used a translator so it mitigated a little difficulty. Breakfast was mainland style with fried eggs, hard boiled eggs, some dimsum, muffins, salad, some fresh juices, (not orange, but watermelon), and a coffee/espresso machine. Adequate but would have enjoyed an omelette or scrambled eggs. One benefit was 100% free laundry service, which is delivered to the room afterwards. First time I have ever experienced this. It made up for the other issues. A nice spot but would probably stay elsewhere due to language issues, entry and exit and room temperature.

The overall design and layout of the hotel follows the brand's traditional Chinese aesthetic technique of light and shadow and nature, delivers the esthetics first stop experience, and creates a unique Chinese elegant life. Xiyue Hotel is a high-end business hotel brand of Huazhu Group, located in the core area of the city, revitalizing contemporary lifestyle with traditional Chinese culture, giving the brand a profound and elegant artistic expression. The design of the hotel draws from the Chinese culture of "heaven round place" philosophy, combines the zen style of Soviet garden with the exquisite traditional Chinese craftsmanship, and creates a secluded place for high-end business people in the downtown through contemporary design techniques.

Hotel’s location is very good. It’s part of the new development area which is clean, with shops, coffee shops etc nearby. The entrance is little hidden but not hard to find. Getting taxis can be a nightmare but the staff can help use taxi apps to help you. Would stay again as room is a good size and bed was big and comfy. Just hoped they got rid of the smoking area in the front of the restaurant because you have to walk past it every time you go in and out!

WWAN CHANA warm welcome from the moment we stepped into the hotel entrance. We were ushered to the lobby at level 101. There we met our butler Alex and we had our refreshments at the lobby with spectacular view. A special shout out to the Hi tea session. Food and services were fabulous. We enjoyed it very much. As well as the magic show. Kudos to the Magician who made our day. The hotel tour was amazing, thank you Jan 真真 for her good effort for showing us around , it was very educational. We didn't get the chance to dine at the Chinese restaurants as there were fully booked. What ashamed! Breakfast spread was interesting. Crew were very attentive. Our room was clean and comfortable. The pillow selection was another brilliant move. Very much appreciated. Front desk Joejoe was courteous and friendly. After all, thank you J Hotel and the crew for an unforgettable experience throughout our stay.

RRokkenI had a generally good stay at Mia Hotel. Good service and staff. If you have chance to stay and your sleep is very light don’t get a room close to the elevator – the aisle is very narrow and you can hear easily people chatting when they get in and off. The place overall is a nice, the neighbour is great and you can’t find probably such a place like this one in the area.
GGuest UserThe stay was impressive. Not only was the room spacious, the site was also peaceful will very few other guests at the time we went.
The environment was so nice that we forgot we were in Shanghai. Experiences of having hotpot next to the river, cycling around the large park, visiting the antique villa and learning about the history, were exceptional.
We were amazed by Johnny Qin and his team's warm hospitality and heart-touching service, especially the hand-drawn welcome card which bear the logo of our company. Attentions were paid to every detail during our stay.
Penny was our yoga tutor and she was so friendly in teaching us and also taking pictures for us. Highly recommended.
As for the afternoon tea on the boat, we had a great chat with Kevin Li 李城城, rounding up a sweet and memorable experience for us at Amanyangyun.
Will definitely come back again.

GGuest UserThe hotel presented eye-catching bouquets of flowers, the room was clean and tidy, and the night view of the Pujiang River was unobstructed; the butler service was a highlight, with a friendly and considerate attitude and the ability to sensitively capture the needs of customers; the welcome session was full of ceremony. The hardware facilities and software butler service complement each other, making it a hotel worth repurchasing.

AAnonymous UserWe booked 3 rooms for 4 nights including breakfast and had a great time staying in Edition. The staffs are very welcoming and friendly, always with smile and attentive.
Breakfast is Ala carte with half buffet style with variety of choices. We truly satisfied with the food. But it was quite boring to have it 4 days in a row.
Room cleaning service is well done and the toiletries are replenished everyday. We also entitled for early bird rewards with a free fruits plate, shopping bag, a small pack of free shampoo and bath products. Our first round of snacks bar are complimentary except for beer and alcohol.
The gym room is not really spacious but fully equipped. The only downside is the swimming pool is quite small, and it would be better if sauna is provided.
Not to mention the strategic location that the metro station is just 2mins walk from the hotel. But the car is not allowed to enter the main road, nevertheless the staffs would help to carry all luggages and the taxi ride can stop at the back door or back street with just few steps away.
Overall, we enjoyed ourself and my family are happy with this hotel.

GGuest UserThis experience was beyond any of my expectations.
The location of the hotel itself is a wonder- it didn’t feel like we were staying in one of the most central parts of Shanghai. It was quiet, tucked away from the bustling traffic and noises of big city life.
The staff are a whole other side to our stay that is worth a paragraph in itself. I noted in my booking that we were coming for an anniversary stay, and were not only upgraded upon arrival, but were greeted with a delicious bottle of wine, fresh fruits, and attentive staff members that carried a pleasant yet professional attitude with every interaction.
We now know where we’ll be staying for our future trips to Shanghai! I definitely recommend a stay here to anyone seeing this!

AAnonymous UserWe reached early at 12 so we couldn’t check in. However the hotel helped to bring the luggage up to the room while we were out, so when we came back in the evening to get the key, we could go straight up to the room. Room amenities are good, with free mini bar drinks replenished daily. The lobby cookies are free too and very delicious! On the first night, we had problems with the Bluetooth speaker as customers from other rooms kept connecting to our speaker, giving us a shock when music played out of nowhere. The hotel was very apologetic and gave us a fruit platter and a small bottle of red wine to make up for it. On the first night they also did turn down service for us, which was very nice of them. But they didn’t do it on the second night - would have been an even better experience if they did so. When we checked out we also asked them to help with the luggage and the staff (a young guy) who came to assist us was extremely helpful. He even helped to arrange our luggage in the car boot (we did have a lot of lugagge)! The food delivery locker outside the hotel lobby was also very useful! I made v good use of it. The only thing stopping me from giving it a 5/5 is that it gets very dark at night between the first main door and the second door that enters into the hotel lobby. The doors are also very heavy, I assume to block out the wind. Sometimes there’s a staff there to help with the door, but often there isn’t. So when it’s dark and you have to mind your step and still have to push open the heavy door, it’s really quite frustrating.
