Close to The Newport (a garden-style dining room for eating and drinking during the day, and an open-air Disco at night), there is still a loud noise at 10 o'clock in the evening, which is not suitable for people who are prone to insomnia. Other environmental sanitation traffic is ok, you must drive there.
This was the 4 th time we’ve had an overnight stay to Ocean Beach Hotel. Almost every time has had a problem: the room’s hot water did not work, the power went out, and this time our room had an area of carpet that was saturated with water resulting in a strong musty smell in room.
Each time the staff were apologetic and did try to rectify the situation. Certainly no fault of the staff on duty. This time we were offered a room change due to the smell, but by then it was late, we had unpacked and showered and were in our pj’s. so we declined the offer, thinking we’d get used to the musty smell. and I discovered the wet carpet afterwards.
It’s a shame because the hotel is well located in town, has reasonable meals in the bistro downstairs, offers guests a free drink voucher, has off street parking, easy to get to…
I understand that booking through booking platforms probably limits the options a manager has when things go wrong. It would go a long way, though, to be offered a discount on a future stay, for example.
I suspect we have just had bad luck and it doesn’t mean we won’t stay again because we travel to Umina to visit family and the hotel is very convenient.

I've been here many times and have always had good service unit Fri 23rd Sept 2022. I requested for a late check out as I have done in the past many times and advised I was happy to pay the $20 per hr late fee however the gentlemen behind the desk blatantly refused even when I pointed out that this was common practice and that I had done so in the past. I pointed out that it's even advertised in the welcome booklet. It's a shame that the 'new guy' treats regulars like that.

We decided to stay here as we had to drop one of our vehicles for a service nearby and we live 96km away, the opposite side of Sydney, which would have involved being stuck in peak hour traffic for a lot of the trip, so instead of it being approx 1hr 45 minutes, it would likely have been about 3 hours! Having decided to travel up and stay nearby it seemed sensible to take a second vehicle so that we had some way of getting around while the other was in being serviced (and we had no idea how long that might take!) On arrival, I asked about parking onsite for the second vehicle and was told in a not particularly pleasant manner that only one vehicle was allowed onsite and we would have to park the other in a street outside the park! Once we were onsite, we found that there was a large carpark just inside the park which was only half full overnight and many vacant tent and caravan spots, as well as the parking outside the studio we had had NO other cars beside ours! There would have been absolutely no reason not to allow us to have our second vehicle within the holiday park, other than blind insistence on following a rule. I can understand that over holiday periods and summer, there would be no room for additional vehicles, however, on a Monday night in winter, this should not have been an issue. If you are travelling with more that one vehicle, I would suggest looking for alternative accommodation, although there does not appear to be much in the way of hotels/motels/caravan parks, etc in this locality.
It was close enough to go with friends. It was located within an hour from my job, and my friend said it was much better than traveling long distances.
The area near Narrabin was a place I had always liked, and since I could see the seaside view from the room and veranda, I felt comfortable and happy as I half-opened the window curtains and looked out. Free parking is also a huge advantage. It was nice that the room was spacious and didn't feel like a stuffy hotel room, and they gave me a coupon for a free welcome drink, so it was convenient to use the bistro below. The advantage is that BWS is located right next to the building's parking lot.
The reception staff at the hotel were also very friendly and were able to satisfactorily resolve any issues that arose when making a reservation.
We searched for accommodation on Google and downloaded the website app that had the lowest price. We found a place that could accommodate 3 adults in 1 room and each had a bed, and paid for it. Our room consisted of 2 queen beds and 1 sofa bed and had a beach view. However, when I arrived at the local reception, they said that only 2 people had made a reservation, so an additional fee of $46 would be required. I quickly looked for the reservation completion letter email and found that it was correct, and they helped me resolve this issue. In the app, the number of people on the first page was set to 3 adults, but it seems that the setting is not maintained as the page changes, so the developer would like to check once more. ✔️
This unit is over-priced. We stayed in a double unit, the two of us, which is better suited to either 2 couples or 2 adults and 2 kids which would justify the price. Upstairs is almost a carbon copy of downstairs in that both have almost full kitchens (no ovens), excellent reverse cycle air conditioning, TV's etc. Other than a very old, very off carton of milk left in the fridge the unit was exceptionally clean.
Upon arriving, we were asked to pay which we had already done when booking. Beware no refunds once booked although this didn't apply in our case. Otherwise, the staff were friendly and helpful.
Had to ask for toilet paper and purchase milk as only two small milk thimbles in fridge. Expected to wash up, dry and put away dishes and utensils before leaving and remove all garbage. We usually do this anyway but I thought it was quite an ask to be expected at those prices. It's post-Covid so I am wondering if lack of staff is the reason for this and perhaps this may change in the future.
No buffet or restaurant on site. No room service. Don't expect any meals. No foxtel as advertised. At least we couldn't get it but they did have Netflix provided. We took our chromecast with us, thank goodness!
The pool is much smaller than it looks in the pictures. Maybe 25 metres? Also, in the afternoon a lot of it is shaded. It's not heated so it's pretty chilly even in late November.
The beach is gorgeous but the room we had didn't have views and the units are in the street behind the main shops so whilst very close to the beach (a mere two minutes) it isn't overlooking the beach. Also, very tight carpark if you have a larger car.
I would recommend the family unit or double unit for 3 to 4 people. Otherwise stick to a single unit. I probably would not return unless with another couple because there are nicer places with more amenities that don't expect you to do the housework at the same or even better prices.
