Best Nagiso Hotels

"This is my second time at Linial. The hot spring is the best. I've been to many hot springs before, but this one was very good, and I went there four times this time. I think the food wasn't much different from the last time. The alcohol service is good for people who can drink, but my husband and I don't drink much either. The room was comfortable. My husband was surprised at how warm the futon was. We turned off the heating and slept at night. After getting on the 11am bus, I remembered that I left my shawl in the room, so I asked the front desk to send it to me cash on delivery. It was hectic, but I'm glad we were able to celebrate our 56th wedding anniversary. The training of the employees is wonderful. Please keep up the good work."

"Hotel room is pretty decent, however there is only public toilet and bathroom. The microwave is not as clean as it should be. Ryokan is actually pretty far to walk from the station, and does not have convenience store or much restaurant nearby. However, it can be a pretty good pit-stop for backpackers/long distance trekkers to rest in. I will recommend people who is visiting this ryokan to either use the bus service(apparently there is a bus to and from the ryokan to the station), or to drive in. Prepare food in advance if you did not reserve an meal. Peaceful place to chill in tho :)"

"Wife and I traveling from the USA. We found this place to be ideal for a pre and post Nakasendo trail hike (although the trail itself was not that special). The staff was friendly and spoke English well enough. The on-site onsen (separate sexes) was clean and perfect for after a hard day’s hiking. Breakfast was fun and a bit of a hurdle if you’ve not had Japanese-style breakfasts. Hotel decor seemed straight out of the 1960s, but it found it charming. One suggestion for hotel: list the times of the free shuttles from the train station more prominently on your website."

"Awesome stay, room is small but has everything, most importantly it was clean and comfortable. The common dining area is very cozy, with drinks and snacks. The free beer and supper are nice gesture. Location is also good, walking distance to shops, restaurants and convenient shops. Great base to explore nakasendo."

"Cleanness and service at the highest level. There is also an onsen pleasant addition after the day when you walk very much. Brown above all praise! Breakfast is diverse and delicious. Changed towels every day. We really liked it!"
