"Overall the hotel is in a decent location, near to Albert Docks and a short walk to the city centre. Even though situated right next to James Street train station the rooms were very quiet.
The reception team were very nice and welcoming.
There are 2 lifts.
The room was good in size, the bathroom had a lovely shower, with shampoo, conditioner, body & hand wash supplied.
The bed was 2 singles pushed together with the thinnest bed topper on, the mattresses were of very poor quality with noisy springs when you turned over and you could feel the springs when laid on, the TV although a decent size was of poor picture quality which had a purple haze over every channel.
Tea,coffee, milk & sugar in the room and more can be obtained if needed room reception.
Hairdryer & iron/ board in open wardrobe.
Room comfortable for temperature as there is air conditioning
New mattresses and tv quality would improve the hotel comfort immensely."

"The sound proofing of the rooms was not very good. We could hear our neighbours talking. We were woken up at 2am with people in the corridors so we were not happy
It was clean and basic. It would have been helpful to have manuals on how to work the microwave dishwasher etc. We stayed 4 nights so although there was an Expresso machine we were only provided 4 capsules any more we had to pay for, I do feel that they should provide 4 per day after all we were paying for 4 nights.
The bed was comfortable. The apartments are in a convenient place for the city and the train station"

"Get beyond the check-in area and the majesty of this hotel becomes apparent. Fabulous architecture unspoiled by ill advised modernisation. There is refurbishment of the bedrooms underway and my stay on the third floor was in a refurbished room. It was impressive in an understated way retaining some rare original features whilst featuring a state of the art bathroom. Neither too hot nor too cold.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Breakfast was adequate with nothing to complain about.
I will stay there again."

"What a great apprentment and location. If you are visiting Liverpool this is the place to stay. Slap bang in the city centre with everything at your doorstep. Will stay here again and recommend anyone to stay here as it was spot on in every aspect bar one which is it would be amazing if they had Air conditioning as it got very hot in the apprentment. However there was a portable fan which helped."

"The host was very welcoming and personally greeted us at the property and gave us a tour. We stayed in the bedroom upstairs where there was a TV monitor on a desk and further upstairs there was a double bed with ensuite shower room. We were able to park our car in the private gates parking at the back.
Tidy and clean, had a very pleasant stay. Fridge and microwave available.
Location is excellent and convenient, just 5min walk from the Anfield stadium. Definitely recommend this!"

"Breakfast is very good. The chef orders it now: omelet, shredded cheese, vegetables, mushrooms, etc. It's great. Other kinds of bread, fresh juice coffee tea. Meat has sausages, bacon. Peach apple, cantaloupe, pineapple and other fruits, a kind of Danone fruit yoghurt. All in all, including early value"

"We booked a room in the Resident as it was near to Philharmonic Hall as we were going to a concert.
The location was excellent, great bars, shops and a really lovely safe and friendly area. A short walk to the Dock area and everything Liverpool has to offer.
The room was excellent, large, clean with the most comfortable bed ever!
Hotel staff were welcoming, friendly and informative.
Would one hundred percent recommend and without doubt return to stay again."

GGuest UserWow what a find! Really cool hotel. Bedrooms were huge and well appointed. Bar and restaurant were really good, great service from Staff and really lovely breakfast available. Hotel was a rum warehouse previously and the concierge (Michael/martin .. sorry I can’t remember his name) went out of his way to tell us about the hotel and its famous staircase and about the history of the area. I’d wholeheartedly recommend. Finishing touch was very reasonably priced on site parking.

GGuest UserStayed here a few times. Staff amazingly friendly. Extremely clean. Great location for the Philharmonic, in fact, almost directly opposite. Also close to both cathedrals. Thumbs up for the biscuits in the room. Also had a very tasty meal, in the bar. My hubby had a bad knee and the staff kindly gave him an ice bucket half full to take to our room to make a cold compress.

CCharlesI personally found the hotel exactly as described on it's website! I shared one of their deluxe twin rooms with a friend and it was way bigger and more comfortable than most I've stayed in! No complaints whatsover! All the Beatles pics and memorabilia was exactly as stated and was a great supplement to a great hotel in my opinion as a big Beatles fan! The fact that it's so close to the Cavern Club, and therfore is situated right at the heart of Liverpools ”Musical” centre, and ”elelectic” atmospheric nightlife, was exactly what I was looking for! But round the corner, back into the hotel and it was back to a quiet, chilled atmosphere! Best of both worlds! Live music in a cool bar at weekend nights, delicious buffet breakfast, pretty much with everything you would want! Can't complain one single bit! That was my experience honestly! Quick, simple checking and check out! Cannot understand the negative reviews I read before I booked, which admittedly nearly put me off booking! All I can say say is, either those negative reviews were unusual or by very fussy people, or exceptional in the extreme! 10 out of 10! Keep it up all you staff in the hotel! My stay at the hotel it had its pros and cons. On the positive side, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made my experience more enjoyable. Additionally, the complimentary breakfast was outstanding and a great way to start the day.
However, I encountered a couple of issues during my stay. While the room appeared clean overall, the linen had an unpleasant smell, which was off-putting. Furthermore, some areas seemed to be neglected in terms of cleanliness.
Despite these issues, the hotel has potential, and I believe addressing these concerns would significantly improve the guest experience. I would give my stay a rating of 3 to 4 stars, as the friendly staff and delicious breakfast were notable highlights.

Just got back from a quick overnight at Ropewalks Hotel in Liverpool and had to share my thoughts! For just £46 — and let's be real, saved a solid chunk thanks to those Trip.com coins — this little spot delivered way more than I expected for a city break.
The location? **Perfect.** Right in the heart of the Ropewalks district, which means you're steps away from some of the coziest bars, indie eateries, and amazing street art. I came for a quick solo adventure, and being so close to everything made it super easy to explore without wasting time on transport.
I stayed **Monday, August 11 to Tuesday, August 12, 2025** — just one night — and check-in after 3 PM was smooth. No waiting, no hassle. Check-out before 11 AM was equally chill. The room itself was modern, comfy, and spotlessly clean — exactly what I needed. Not five-star fancy, but everything worked, it felt cared for, and I actually got a great night's sleep.
One thing I really appreciated? **The transparency.** The bulk was paid upfront, and I only had to hand over £2.40 on-site — no surprise fees. Plus, knowing Trip.com backs it with a price match and stay guarantee gave me peace of mind.
Loved that I could message or call the hotel directly through the app, and the ”Manage Booking” feature made the whole process feel seamless. Felt like I was in control the whole time.

*The Carpark was full of old furniture from the hotel and empty beer barrier preventing you getting parked,
*The hotel has turned into more of a party venue hotel rather than the beautiful hotel it was when I last came with my daughter 2018.
*tap in the kitchen area in our room only let out hot water and unfortunately the room stunk of what I could only describe as a sewerage smell? Whether the drains needed maintenance I’m not sure but I I just sprayed some deodorant around to help make it not smell quite as bad because I was so tired I didnt want to have to swap rooms.
*There was also no phone to call reception which I found strange and the remote for the tv was missing the back of it.
I put all this bad points down to the fact that when I previously came it was owned by someone who really cared about the maintenance and reputation of the hotel but now I’ve found it’s since been sold it seems the new owner isn’t as bothered and all what the shankley represented before eg, maintenance, luxury, football themed has kind of turned more into a tacky themed hotel and doesn’t feel classy anymore. I’d probably not stay here again as it’s not the same as it was and just the whole feel of hand hotel is different. It’s not the best if you have come with kids as there’s lots of drunken guests in the hotel and it’s noisey but thank goodness it’s a large hotel as you don’t hear the noise from downstairs. We were on level 3.
Our room was lovely and big with a large double bed and 2 twins pushed together, a kitchen area with tea bags and coffee (no biscuits but that didn’t bother us as we had snacks with us
The upsides were-
*Staff were pleasant,
*breakfast was amazing with everything you could possibly as for,
*hotel was mainly quiet on the 3rd floor, room was on the whole clean and had a hair dryer, iron and ironing board with a safe.
* . The bathroom was lovely especially the bath as it was a jacuzzi with a waterfall shower. Everything was clean from what I could see.

I stayed from **Thursday, August 7 to Saturday, August 9, 2025** — a perfect two-night city escape. Check-in after 3 PM was smooth and welcoming, and the 11 AM check-out time was standard and convenient. The staff were helpful and made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived.
