Our vacation time was quite short, so my family and I chose Guangzhou as a layover city for our return flight. Since we only had a day and a half, and it was our first time in Guangzhou, we focused on the main attractions in the old city. After considering all factors, MEILIE Ling B&B met all our requirements, practically rivaling a five-star hotel, and indeed, our choice did not disappoint! In terms of hardware: It even surpassed five-star standards. The unique red-brick arcade architecture, typical of Guangzhou, offered a quiet escape amidst the hustle and bustle. The interior environment, decor, and even the furniture style retained an authentic vintage Republic of China feel. In terms of software: The housekeepers were incredibly responsive, almost fulfilling every request. Thoughtful, meticulous, and attentive – that's how I'd describe their service this time. The owner must be a stickler for details, consistently managing every aspect of the B&B from a guest's perspective, leaving almost nothing to fault. Whether it was breakfast, afternoon tea, late-night snacks, or the farewell gifts for each guest upon check-out, what truly stood out was the B&B's own 30-minute travel photoshoot service. There was no limit on the number of people, all raw photos were provided, and 4 to 6 photos were expertly retouched. Every single detail hit home with me! Looking at it this way, the thousand-plus yuan room rate was incredibly good value for money! This 5-star review is well-deserved, and they are definitely worth experiencing!

The location, ambiance, and dining experience were all top-notch. 👍 Nestled at the entrance of the bustling old Xiguan district, these two historic red-brick buildings are a hidden gem in the city, exuding charm. A dark oak door on the corner slides open to reveal a place rich with the tales of a Guangdong king... Ingenious design connects the two main buildings with a small glass walkway – seamless and natural, allowing light to filter through while maintaining a pristine look. It preserves the grandeur of the towering structures. Inside, the wide, sturdy wooden banisters and green-patinated metal railings, showing subtle signs of age, silently radiate the glow of time. The smooth, warm touch seems to connect you to the Republic of China era; one can almost imagine the King of Guangzhou upstairs. 😇 The public areas and rooms blend Nanyang retro with Wabi-sabi aesthetics, a perfect match for Guangdong. Dark-toned furniture, Nanyang-style latticed windows, rattan bed canopies, Wabi-sabi linen sofas, and the warm glow of lights behind window drapes create a peaceful sanctuary as soon as you step in. The integration of old and new is seamless. The elevator's installation, I was told, was likely to avoid altering the original structure. My room was on what they called the 'third and a half floor' 😛, meaning even with the elevator, a few stairs were still involved, adding to the unique experience. The rooftop features a simple terrace, with a cleverly hidden laundry room on one side, visible only when taking the stairs. From the terrace, you overlook the ground-floor garden, where a tea couch area, a swing, and enclosed tea sections are elegantly arranged. The service was excellent; the butler was very thoughtful. Afternoon tea, late-night congee, and breakfast all satisfied my longing for Guangzhou's culinary delights. Not far from the guesthouse, there's a popular old-school street-side BBQ shop with a long queue even at night. I only managed to get half a roasted goose – the crispy skin, tender meat, and that delicious fatty layer in between were absolutely heavenly. I felt guilty but devoured every bite. 😂

I spent a long time looking for accommodation in Guangzhou, sifting through many options. I was initially going to book the W or Hyatt, but then I found this place, which is really unique – it's a renovated old Qilou (arcade house) with a strong Xiguan flavor. I was very satisfied after my stay. First, the location is quiet yet central, with lots of great food nearby. It's also super convenient to get to Yongqingfang, Shamian Island, and Liwan Lake Park. Second, the hotel's decor and lighting create a fantastic ambiance. The room was quiet and clean, the amenities were excellent, the air conditioning was noiseless, and the hot water came quickly and was plenty hot. These things are so important when you're out exploring all day and need a good night's rest. Third, the hotel service was excellent. The butler was proactive and enthusiastic. They offered pick-up and delivery for laundry and drying, and also provided breakfast, afternoon tea, and a late-night snack. There was even free professional photography, though I didn't have time to book a session this trip – hopefully next time! The老婆饼 (wife cake) they gave as a farewell gift at checkout was delicious! I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Guangzhou!

Thanks to the hotel for the room upgrade, it was a very satisfying stay. The boat congee for the late-night snack and the orange juice for breakfast were both excellent. The bento box for breakfast and late-night snacks also added a nice touch. The photographer was also great. I really love this place and will recommend it to friends. I'll definitely consider staying here again next time I'm in Xiguan.

Red bricks, green tiles, Roman columns, carved iron railings... every detail tells a story left by time. Pushing open the door feels like stepping back a hundred years into Xiguan. Hygiene: Needs improvement Ambiance: Unbeatable location, wabi-sabi design aesthetic Service: Warm, considerate, attentive Facilities: The room lighting creates a great atmosphere, but the main lighting is insufficient, which is a bit inconvenient. PS: For breakfast, I suggest simplifying the offerings and improving the taste.

This guesthouse aims to provide a five-star hotel-like service. Overall, the service was good, with a distinct Xiguan (old Guangzhou) flavor. The mini-bar was complimentary, and breakfast was served in the lobby. However, the food was a bit cold, though the taste was acceptable. We requested late-night supper for 10 PM. We weren't able to return to the hotel on time, and about two hours later when we got back, the supper tray had many insects crawling all over it. We dared not eat it and promptly asked someone to clear it away. There's a serious hygiene issue with the late-night supper service; leaving food outside like that without a cover, especially if guests can't make it back in time, is problematic. Could they use covered containers or avoid placing the food on the ground to reduce the chance of insects getting in? We immediately reported the issue to the hotel, but they neither delivered a new meal nor followed up with us the next day regarding the situation.

Huge, huge, huge praise!!! I don't understand why such a great hotel would have negative reviews. First, let me explain my situation this time. I'm thirty, and I brought my sixty-year-old parents and my ninety-year-old great-grandmother. My dad is the type who rarely compliments anyone. As soon as he entered the room, he immediately exclaimed how good it was (I booked a balcony room for him). Before leaving, he even thanked the staff and praised their service. Facilities: Everything you need is here. Laundry room, gym, toiletries in the room, etc. The only issue is that rooms on the second and third floors require you to go up or down half a flight of stairs after taking the elevator. For elderly guests with mobility issues, choose rooms on the fourth or first floor, as they don't require stairs. Cleanliness: Spotless! No bugs. Towels and cups were clean. Ambiance: Retro but not rundown. The owner clearly has excellent taste; the lighting design appeals more to a younger aesthetic. Older guests might find the lighting a bit dim, but I personally love it! Service: This needs special mention. Because I was traveling with elderly family members, we needed a lot of help and had many requests and changes, such as delivery times and locations for meals. Even after confirming, I often had to bother the staff to change things last minute, but they were all very patient and met my needs. We also had a lot of luggage, and staff helped us carry it in and out during check-in and check-out without any complaints. The complimentary photography service was also very satisfying. This guesthouse is located in a century-old building in the heart of Guangzhou. The overall ambiance is elegant, and the decor is exquisite. When I was booking a hotel for my trip to Guangzhou, this homestay was recommended on the platform. Seeing that it was a renovated old residence from the Republic of China era, I specifically decided to stay here for two nights. The facilities, cleanliness, and service at the homestay were all excellent. Before my arrival, the little butler created a group chat with all the service staff, and any updates were posted there. During my stay, any questions I had were promptly answered and resolved by the butler, which was incredibly efficient. A special highlight of the hotel's unique services, besides breakfast, afternoon tea, and late-night snacks, was the 30-minute professional photoshoot – it perfectly solved the problem of my mother's poor photography skills!

An incredibly satisfying experience! First off, the location is fantastic, right in the heart of Xiguan, the old town where original Guangzhou residents live. You can just walk out and discover all sorts of delicious food and tourist attractions. It's a great way to deeply experience Lingnan culture. The B&B's design style is distinct, and the functional layout is well-planned, clean, and comfortable. The staff were warm and attentive, able to meet almost all our needs. From breakfast and afternoon tea to late-night snacks, everything was thoughtfully arranged daily – there was so much food we couldn't even eat it all!

The location is super convenient, practically right next to three major attractions, and the service was excellent. Very satisfied with my stay! The hotel is comfortable, quiet, and beautifully decorated. It's perfectly located in Guangzhou's 'Xiguan' area, which is my favorite part of the city. There are so many great spots for photos and exploring right around the hotel. The only minor downside was that check-in was a bit busy, and the front desk staff seemed a little flustered, haha, but overall the service was excellent. It was incredibly quiet at night, which was a pleasant surprise as I was worried about it being noisy since it's by the road.

The hotel environment and service are pretty good. The common areas are a bit small, and the room was a little dark. There's a small step right outside the bathroom that I kept tripping over. The hotel's food selection is rich and tastes good. Overall, I'm satisfied!
