"Excellent hotel. The rooftop infinity pool, hot spring, terrace bath, sea breeze, and Hakodate night view were incredibly relaxing. I used the baths both in the evening and in the morning. There's a scenic bar lounge that offers coffee. The room had a private washer/dryer and a microwave. The breakfast offered was great value, allowing you to choose a restaurant at the adjacent seafood market. However, I didn't opt for it because I wanted to try catching squid and grilling it, and also having crab shabu-shabu – this morning market is truly the best for seafood. Disposable slippers were provided, which many Japanese hotels don't offer."
"JR Inn Hakodate is conveniently located right behind Hakodate Station. From the JR Hakodate exit, turn right and walk straight, you'll see the JR Inn sign, and the hotel is just 20 meters away. The rooms are a bit small; the 1.4-meter double room felt a little cramped for two people, and we had to open our luggage on the bed. It has a private bathroom and shower. There's a large public bath on the 12th floor, which is better than nothing. After a bath, free coffee and tea are available, and there's also a lounge area where you can enjoy views of Mount Hakodate and the Hakodate Morning Market below.
You can catch a bus to the Mount Hakodate observation deck directly in front of JR Hakodate Station. It can get crowded, so expect to queue. A one-way ticket costs 700 JPY.
The Red Brick Warehouses and Hachiman-zaka Slope are within walking distance."
"Fantastic location, right outside the train station. Bottled water is provided daily, and there's a self-service coffee machine downstairs. The breakfast spread is excellent, with the option to make your own seafood rice. The room has a window that can be opened for ventilation. The shower has great water pressure, and there are plenty of lights in the bedroom. The laundry room on the fourth floor is very convenient, though probably not used as much in winter. The hotel is right next to Hakodate Morning Market. You can take a direct bus to Goryokaku and also to Mount Hakodate, which is very convenient. The 13th-floor bar is accessible for guests who booked a sea-view room; otherwise, there's a charge. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth staying here."
"My mom and I recently stayed at La Vista Hakodate Bay and were absolutely delighted! The hotel's location is fantastic, very close to the Red Brick Warehouses and the waterfront, offering beautiful night views. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the bed was so soft we slept wonderfully. The breakfast was the biggest surprise – a wide variety of options, and the seafood rice bowl was incredibly delicious! The staff were all very friendly and made sure we had a very pleasant stay. The rooftop onsen was also amazing; we could enjoy the night scenery while soaking in the hot spring. My mom loved it, and we'll definitely stay here again next time we visit Hakodate!"
"The hotel is conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from the JR station, making it incredibly easy to get around. It's also very close to the morning market, and attractions like Mount Hakodate are easily reachable on foot. Being a newly opened hotel, the facilities are modern and the hygiene is excellent. As a Sheraton property, the quality is guaranteed. While the room isn't very spacious and the bed is a bit on the smaller side, it was perfectly fine for a solo traveler. The front desk staff were professional, efficient, and very welcoming."
"We stayed two nights, one room only and one with dinner and breakfast. Overall satisfactory experience 1) superb view of public onsen at top floor facing the sea 2) good buffet breakfast with nice seafood collection 3) very good dinner set (we upgrade from buffet which is the general option) 4) one of the newer onsen hotels in 湯之川 opened in 2017 only. Will recommend !"
"Super stay at this traditional onsen inn! It’s an easy 5 minutes walk from the tram stop and it is a peaceful and hospitable place to stay. We stayed for 2 nights with breakfast included (you have it in your room, the staff come to roll up your tatami 30 mins before - we just went to the onsen during this time) which was traditional Japanese style and delicious. The onsens are not too big but there are outdoor and indoor sections and perfectly adequate. The staff look after you warmly and we loved our experience of traditional Japanese culture here. Oh, and it’s near the Botanical Gardens where we saw monkeys bathing in the onsen."
"The location is fantastic, just a 5-minute walk from the JR station. The lobby has a grand atmosphere, and the room was very clean. Unlike some other reviews, we didn't experience any extra charges for daily cleaning. The only downside is that the room isn't very spacious; with two suitcases open, there's barely any room to walk around."
"Hakodate Kokusai Hotel is an established hotel. While it has been recently renovated, and the lobby and public areas are bright and modern, there's a huge disparity in the condition and age between different parts of the hotel and room types. Rooms in the main building are noticeably newer, whereas those in the West Wing feel quite dated, almost from another era. My visit coincided with a Japanese holiday, so hotel prices had soared. I ended up paying main building rates for a room in the West Wing. While the room was passably clean, a distinct dusty smell lingered in the air. The facilities were outdated and inconvenient to use, and the room itself was quite cramped. Overall, my stay was quite disappointing. If only rooms in the West Wing are available, I would strongly recommend choosing a different hotel."
"The location is fantastic! It's right by the JR station and the bus stop is just outside, making it super convenient to get to Goryokaku and Mount Hakodate. The morning market is also right next door. The room was spacious and well-designed. The only minor issue was that there wasn't even a bottle of water in the room, and I didn't see a water dispenser in the public areas. However, overall, it's still pretty good value for money."

Amazing
BBphilly93I loved every moment staying there. The staff was so welcoming and kind. The bike rental was pretty cheap and affordable, and so many places to visit within walking distance of the hotel. I met so many people from around that were also staying there plus a lot of awesome natives from Japan. I’d totally recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit Hakodate.
Wwzx0227This hotel located just right outside the Hakodate JR Station. 2mins walk from JR station and 5 mins walk from morning market.
Room is clean, big and spacious with all the basic necessities. There is a tub in the room and shower, there is also a onsen bath separate for men and women. Also included is a simple breakfast. Hotel did provide the free shuttle bus to airport, but need to confirm the timing with frontdesk. The service not available every day.
KKAIHUNGLC Goryokaku Hotel is conveniently located near the tram station and has easy access to transportation. The room is spacious and can easily accommodate large luggage. The hotel provides free breakfast with a wide variety of choices and good taste. In addition, free laundry and drying facilities are available for the convenience of travelers. The overall cleanliness is good and the sauna facilities are complete, suitable for travelers who like to take a bath. Overall, the hotel has a high cost-effectiveness and is worth recommending.
GGuest UserThe room itself was a little bit small and quite cramped. Just about enough space for one. But if you are plus sized it might seem too small. The toilet was also slightly narrow.
Facilities were great, with onsen available. Within touching distance of the local public street car and bus stop. Front desk were really friendly and helpful despite the limited English spoken. They also operate early from 8am till fairly late 10pm. And the nearest konbini was also only about 200m away.
AAnonymous UserHakodate is one of the main cities on Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island. Looming over the town is 334m-high Mount Hakodate. The mountain's summit, reachable by aerial ropeway gondola, offers dramatic nighttime views. At its base is Motomachi, a neighborhood of steep streets with Western-style, early-20th-century buildings. A city landmark is the grand Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward, built in 1910.
エエゾシカ伝道師The staff at the inn were warm and moderate, and I was very comfortable.
While there were many non-smoking rooms, the companion who was a smoker was very happy.
In addition, the correspondence of the odor remaining in the room is also firm, and I think it can be comfortable.
It's a hot spring, but you can get the power of the source.
It is a hot spring of great satisfaction!
I want to enter again ♪
AAnonymous UserThe location is excellent, just sandwiched in the middle. I entered the room before 14 o'clock, and thank you for the front desk. The bed was small and the room was small, but just an area was empty to spread out the large suitcase, and the design was very good. The warm light effect is very good (in fact, it is 2 bulbs 💡) The hand sanitizer smells good. Disadvantages: Dry laundry
