"Extremely close to Hakodate JR Station, just 100 meters from the exit. The room size was perfect, and from the window, I could see the sea and mountains in the distance. While the hotel facilities aren't new, they are clean and comfortable, which is a major plus. It's very convenient to walk to the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouses, Hachiman-zaka Slope, and Mount Hakodate from the hotel, taking about fifteen minutes. The hotel breakfast was excellent, with fresh salmon and sweet shrimp, allowing you to make your own seafood donburi. There's also a Merring coffee machine. Downstairs, there's a large drugstore, but since I was heading to Osaka next, I didn't stock up there. It snowed for two days in Hakodate, and the Christmas tree lighting ceremony on the sea, set against the fireworks, was perfectly romantic 💯"

"Great location, very close to JR, and you can even walk to most attractions. On the way from JR to the hotel, you pass through a morning market where you can get really affordable crab. The room offers direct sea views, which is beautiful. The hotel's hot spring bath is a bit small, though."

Cleanliness: good! Nearly perfect; there are still some hairs inside the toilet, but the rest is really good! Keep it up!

"Extremely satisfied! It's right next to the JR station, very warm inside, and super conveniently located in the heart of the main street. Downstairs, there's a convenience store and Hakodate specialty shops, which is incredibly handy. Highly recommend! Check-in and check-out were also super fast. The breakfast is amazing – if you buy it, I suggest leaving plenty of time to enjoy it slowly. The view from the window is also fantastic."

"I was very satisfied with this hotel (except for the room being really small and the heating being super hot, haha, but that's a common issue in Japanese hotels). Let me talk about the things worth praising. There's an unlimited supply of coffee, matcha, and milk every day right in the lobby downstairs. Coming back and having a cup was just perfect, incredibly warming on a cold winter day. And the breakfast, wow, it's absolutely top-notch! The breakfast always features fresh catches of the day, and it's truly delightful to be so satisfied first thing in the morning. Paired with their special Meiling coffee, the whole experience was fantastic!"

"I highly, highly recommend this hotel! It's located near Goryokaku Park, easily accessible by tram from JR Hakodate Station. This area is quite central, with museums, shopping malls, and plenty of great food options nearby – there's even a super delicious soup curry place! A Lawson and 7-Eleven are less than a minute away, and it's also close to Yunokawa Onsen.
I recommend this hotel for a couple of reasons. First, the room was exceptionally clean and spacious. I stayed in a king-size room by myself, and it felt more than ample; I could easily fit several suitcases without an issue. Second, the staff's service attitude was excellent – very polite and courteous. I had a meeting in the morning and requested that the cleaning staff not disturb me during that time. Throughout my stay, no one ever knocked on my door; they quietly cleaned the adjacent rooms. Later, when I returned from sightseeing in the evening, I found a bag of fresh toiletries hanging on my door!
I was so touched! They were considerate enough not to disturb me by knocking, yet also made sure I had new bathroom supplies.
I was deeply impressed by the hotel's service and thoughtful consideration! This was truly the most satisfying hotel experience of my Hokkaido trip. The price was reasonable, the cleanliness was impeccable, and the staff were warm and polite.
Next time I visit Hakodate, I'm booking this hotel directly."

"Hakodate Kokusai Hotel is an established hotel. While it has been recently renovated, and the lobby and public areas are bright and modern, there's a huge disparity in the condition and age between different parts of the hotel and room types. Rooms in the main building are noticeably newer, whereas those in the West Wing feel quite dated, almost from another era. My visit coincided with a Japanese holiday, so hotel prices had soared. I ended up paying main building rates for a room in the West Wing. While the room was passably clean, a distinct dusty smell lingered in the air. The facilities were outdated and inconvenient to use, and the room itself was quite cramped. Overall, my stay was quite disappointing. If only rooms in the West Wing are available, I would strongly recommend choosing a different hotel."

LLeiseJust two blocks from JR, super close. There's a Lawson downstairs and a 7-Eleven right in front. It's really convenient for getting to all the attractions. Check-in is self-service, which is very handy. The front desk offers free daily amenities. The cleaning lady in the afternoon was very thorough. Even when we didn't need a full cleaning, she would still prepare garbage bags and towels and hang them on the doorknob. That's excellent!

Location is great, only a few hundred meters to the train station. Convenience store just a few minutes walk. Near the fresh market. Staff were friendly and gave us toiletries and left it outside the room even when we did not ask for room cleaning. Spacious and great stay for Ironman participants as the unit is big, you can build your bike comfortably. Overall it was a great stay!

Hakodate Station has only one exit, and the hotel is the tall building immediately to the left, with the Hakodate Morning Market right across to the right. Immediately after checking in, we took a taxi to the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouses, with Hachiman-zaka Slope just a short walk away. Only upon returning to the hotel did we realize that Hakodate Station is right by the sea, and a leisurely stroll along the waterfront also leads directly to the Red Brick Warehouses. With buses and taxis available right outside the station entrance, getting around is incredibly convenient.
The hotel lobby is spacious and bright, offering plenty of comfortable sofas for guests to relax. The hotel features a public bath and sauna, and after a relaxing soak, complimentary popsicles in various flavors are a delightful treat. Breakfast offers a wide variety of dishes, including all-you-can-eat sashimi! All the food was delicious, and we were constantly delighted by the offerings. Overall, a truly wonderful experience. Highly recommended!
Although we didn't go up Mount Hakodate for the famous night view, our hotel window offered a stunning vista of the sea. As night fell, the coastline and the illuminated buildings sparkled, creating an equally breathtaking nocturnal panorama. Absolutely magnificent!

I cant keep my luggage before my check in time, so i have to carry my heavy luggage with me for all day, and staffs here aren’t friendly at all, also they charge ¥5,000 for late check out even just for 5minutes. I stay in many hotel with higher and cheaper price but this place was really disappointing.
All the things in this hotel are perfect, but i think they have to educate the staffs and other services.

The onsen (hot spring) bath is quite unique with its yellowish-brown water, and the outdoor bath is excellent. Another highlight is the second-floor common area, which features information about Hakodate's historical sites. It's a great spot for friends to gather for tea or to relax after a hot spring soak. There's even an outdoor heater. Breakfast offers a good selection of seafood, and despite being busy, it was well-organized.

GGuest UserThis is the second time for the consecutive years of our stay. This hotel is the only reason for us to come back to Hokkaido again from last year’s trip. The ocean view in the room accompanied with the sound of tides / wind is peaceful and lovely; and the in-room but semi-outdoor/facing the sea onsen makes everything perfect. Also the lobby sitting area is another fascinating place for stay for a while! The downstairs souvenir shop, nearby walking distance Lawson/ 7–11 makes the location more convenient.
But maybe the expectation was too high after waiting for a year, I was disappointed for this stay several reasons:
1) too strong third hand cigarettes smell in the room, although we opened the window for 24 hours, the smell still lingered
2) check out time is WAY TOO EARLY(10 am) for a leisure purpose of stay
3) the room is clean but not the window, it hinder the view of seeing through the ocean ; and can tell the hotel is old from every corners.
I’ll reconsider to stay again if the price is worth the downside we need to compromise.

JJesscacaAbout 10-15mins driving distance from the city center. Parking is located next to it (around 2mins walking distance) where u have to walk through an alley to hotel main door. Perhaps they can install a street light in the alley way or a back door near to parking lots coz it is quite dark and scary to walk alone.
Breakfast is lack of variety but acceptable.
Other than these, overall is satisfied.
