"This is definitely my favorite hotel in Hakodate! The hotel is stylish, modern, and feels brand new. We stayed in the tatami room, which was incredibly comfortable for our family of five. The room was spacious and even had a dining area, making it perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing.
The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a wide variety of delicious Japanese and Western dishes to choose from. The onsen was another highlight of our stay—clean, relaxing, and definitely a must-try!
Overall, everything exceeded our expectations. If we're lucky enough to visit Hakodate again, we would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended for families!"

"There are 5 beds, perfect for a family. We could spread out our luggage, and the location was generally walkable, which was nice. The only downside was that the toilet and shower were combined and quite small. I've stayed in many hotels and guesthouses in Japan, and this bathroom was definitely on the smaller side.
Location: It's right opposite Hakodate Station, which is excellent. Bus stops 11 and 12 in front of the station are for the shuttle to Hakodate Airport. Our room also faced Hakodate Station, which was a great view.
Service: You can choose daily housekeeping or opt out. If you skip housekeeping, you can get fresh water at the front desk. However, we chose to have our room cleaned and beds made.
On the first floor, there's a laundry room and self-service luggage storage. There's also a microwave on each floor right outside the elevator."

"Parking is easy to access and there are still plenty of car parks even if you arrive later in the evening, which we did. Lobby area provides free flow welcome drinks from the soda machine, which is quite a pleasant surprise.
The room layout that we had was very odd, not something we would have picked if we had known. The queen sized bed was placed in the middle of the room, facing the windows. Behind the bed post was a small area with arm chairs and an additional TV. The design intention probably was to create a lounging area away from the sleeping area but it’s a neither here nor there kind of space. The pillows provided were very small, more suitable for children than adults. I have attached a photo of the pillows. It’s the most uncomfortable pillows we ever had throughout our travel in Japan."

"The hotel's location is quite good, close to both Hakodate Station and the airport. You can walk to the station, and a taxi to the airport isn't overly expensive. However, I'm not sure why all the hotels were fully booked in early May. I stayed for two days but had to book different room types. The front desk surprisingly said they couldn't arrange for me to stay in the same room. This meant checking out at 11 AM the day before, leaving my luggage at the front desk, going out for four hours, and then returning to the hotel at 3 PM to check in again, which was quite inconvenient.
The facilities are a bit old, and there was a damp smell in the hallway. However, the toiletries were all Pola, which was a pleasant surprise. But the hotel didn't offer complimentary bottled water, so I had to buy it from a convenience store or vending machine outside."

1. Unbeatable Location: Extremely convenient! Just a 1-minute walk from JR Hakodate Station and 1 minute to the Hakodate Morning Market.
2. Compact yet Functional Room: Although the room is on the smaller side (16 sqm), the layout is very well-designed, so it didn't feel cramped at all.
3. Smooth Service: Fast and hassle-free check-in and check-out process. We opted for a 2-hour late check-out for an additional 2,000 JPY, which was totally worth it.
Cons:
Elevator Congestion: The only real downside during our stay was the heavy elevator congestion during morning peak hours (08:30–10:30). If you are heading out during this time, make sure to budget a little extra waiting time!"

"I've stayed at this brand's hotels before in Fukuoka, and they're always convenient for both business and leisure. Tokyu hotels are generally quite new, with a 'three-fixture' bathroom setup (separate toilet, sink, and shower/bath). Plus, the rooms have a washer/dryer combo, so you don't need to pack too many clothes, which really lightens your luggage.
The outdoor hot spring on the hotel's rooftop is a unique feature – definitely try it if you stay here. My room was a corner unit, and the bathroom had a window, so you could soak in the hot spring while watching the sunset. Unfortunately, I caught it on a cloudy day.
Right downstairs is a seafood market, which is incredibly good value.
The only minor downside is that it's a bit of a walk from the station. After exiting, cross the road and head west; it's a bit closer that way.
Upon check-in, the hotel gives you ice cream, which is delicious. The caramel flavor is even better!"

"This hotel exceeded my expectations! The transportation is incredibly convenient; there's a bus terminal right downstairs, making it easy to go anywhere. I initially planned to take taxis in Hakodate, but Google Maps showed that all the buses I needed were right there, super clear and easy to navigate. Plus, there are plenty of dining options nearby. The hotel's large public bath is great – we didn't soak, just used the shower area, and the water pressure was fantastic and refreshing. If you go after 10:30 PM or so, it's not crowded, and having a small popsicle after showering was a nice touch. The hotel breakfast was decent, nothing spectacular, but those who enjoy sashimi would probably like it. The Lawson convenience store downstairs is also quite large."

Breakfast is outsourced to a restaurant on the first floor; it's a set meal plus a few buffet items, very mediocre and definitely not worth 1650 yen. I don't recommend it."

"This was my first time traveling to Hakodate, and I think I picked a great hotel for my first impression of the city. The staff are always welcoming and greet guests in the lobby. The rooms are larger than those in many other hotels in Japan, and they are very comfortable. From my room, I had a nice view of JR Hakodate Station, which was a great bonus.
The biggest advantage of this hotel is its location. "Everything was excellent, from the welcome drinks and thoughtful amenities to the comfortable beds. The highlight, however, is the breakfast. It’s definitely worth it, but be sure to go early as the queue gets quite long later in the morning.
If I had one small complaint, it would be the wooden bathroom door, which tends to slam shut quite loudly. Other than that, it’s a fantastic hotel in a great location, and I’d happily stay here again."

I stayed in a D-Fourth Non smoking room on the 8th floor. The room has a nice view of Mount Hakodate from the balcony and a view of the port from the bedroom window. Room was clean and there is daily cleaning if you ask for it. Cooking utensils are available though no condiments provided. The bath system is electronic and took a while to figure out how to use it. Room was spacious and adequate for 4 of us. What we loved is that while the dryer did not really dry our clothes (separate washer and dryer), the heater in the room was strong enough to dry them and we could borrow a rack from the hotel to hang them out to dry. Only improvement we would like to suggest - we arrived when it was snowing heavily, and as we moved our luggage into the room the floor became wet and dirtied, we had to clean with tissue as there is no floor cleaner available.would be nice to provide self cleaning tools especially since there is a kitchen and things might spill. And also the balcony did not have any ‘balcony’ shoes so it was just too cold to step outside to enjoy the scenary. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel. Would choose it again if we go Hakodate.

Demi.9.2It did what it had to do. A bed to sleep in, a bath to bathe in, hot water during the season, very clean and good disposable amenities to use.
For the cost of the stay, its worth it.
However its pretty much away from convenience for people who wants to walk around town after going to the area to take your photos. Its a pretty dry part around the hotel except for the Tax free shop which was amazing.
Further up nearer to Hakodate station is where majority of the Izakaya and food shops can be located after 6pm

Guest UserI absolutely love Hanabishi Hotel — I had the best 2-night stay here. The hotel is quiet with no large tour groups, and I really enjoyed the traditional feel and relaxing vibes. I tried all of their room types, and my favorite is the futon room with a private onsen. The futon is very comfortable, and the room itself is incredibly spacious.
The staff are friendly and helpful, even assisting me with arranging taxi service. The location is convenient, only about a 10-minute drive from Hakodate Airport. I also loved both the breakfast buffet and the dinner set — they truly pampered me like I was the queen of the world.
The public onsen is beautiful and huge. I will forever choose to stay here whenever I’m in the area.

I'd call this unbeatable. First off, the front desk service was truly above and beyond my expectations. It was snowing heavily, and the bellhop was still waiting outside for guests to arrive, helping with luggage. The outdoor private onsen in the room was also exceptional; the view and atmosphere were incredible. The breakfast, with its unbeatable ocean view, topped it all off. I had a wonderful day in Hakodate!

Overall, it's a great hotel and very close to the JR station. The hotel has a hot spring, which I didn't get to try. Hakodate is a small city, and the hotel also offers a free shuttle bus to the ropeway station. The night view from Mount Hakodate is beautiful, but it gets really crowded up there.

You can also walk to the Hakodate Morning Market. What's really thoughtful is that the hotel provides a lot of Hakodate travel information by the elevators, including a guide to nearby restaurants with details like opening hours, descriptions, and signature dishes.

That is expected situation for any hotel in Hokkaido 😆. The receptionist was really helpful. She help to call taxi for me when I don’t know how to do so.

Excellent view of Pacific Ocean if the room is booked in premium tower ! Spacious and clean rooms with hot spring facilities in the hotel. Haven’t tried breakfast in the hotel. However seven eleven kind of shops are available close by. Lots of local seafood restaurants towards the Hakodate station which is just 800 m away, can reach by walk. All the major attractions are nearby and my personal favourite is the tram network and a very closer station matsukaze-cho ! Morning market and mt Hakodate ropeway station, small children’s park everything is connected by tram stations. Beach is just 600 m from the hotel with lots of seagulls and hazy Mountain View of Oma island overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Must visit place and highly recommended stay would rate as 9.8/10 ! Have a pleasant and relaxed stay here ☺️

On the last day of my trip, I wanted to experience one of the top 100 hot spring hotels. Upon entering, staff knelt to greet me, and I was offered homemade matcha and cookies. The hotel had a rustic charm. Entering the room, I was immediately struck by its cleanliness and spaciousness. In the morning, I could see the sea and seagulls; sitting and sipping tea while daydreaming was incredibly relaxing.
