Marseille Beach Hotels

I booked this hotel in a rush, seeing a 4.5 rating on Ctrip. Environment: First of all, the hotel's location is very convenient, right in the old port, with a view of the pier from the window – the view is okay. Transportation is convenient, very close to the train station. The staff were very warm and attentive, five-star service. The following is for those who value cleanliness: The hotel's cleanliness was disappointing, which was my top priority for accommodation. The facilities did not match the price and four-star standard. For example, the wall materials in the room clearly needed replacement or renovation; they weren't just old, there was obvious dirt on the walls, which was very unpleasant to see while lying in bed. The hairdryer was heavily dusty. The toilet bowl had a yellowish tinge, making it unusable. The window faces the harbor, but the curtains offered virtually no light blocking. They were single-layered fabric in very bright colors, waking you up immediately.

I think the location is a plus, and the hotel staff provided good service. The breakfast was also good with a nice view, and the staff even helped prepare coffee. The bathroom was spacious, but many things were broken. The drain in my room had issues, sometimes leaking water all over the floor. The metal toilet paper holder next to the toilet suddenly fell off, which startled me. The shower screen had a faulty seal at the bottom, preventing it from closing properly. The bathroom lights also flickered constantly, suggesting unstable voltage. My colleague, who was traveling with me, had a broken AC in their room the first night and had to switch. The second night, the replacement room lost power in the middle of the night, forcing them to grope in the dark to switch rooms again. Compared to their experience, my issues seem minor.

The check-in process at this hotel was a hassle, and I'm not sure if it was discrimination. Furthermore, the housekeeping staff, especially one individual, was very cold; she completely ignored me when I greeted her. To top it off, she entered my room midway through my stay without any apology.

The room was extremely spacious, and the bathroom was also very large. It was very comfortable to stay here. The location is excellent — just a few minutes’ walk to the old port. The only downside was the hot water situation: after one person showered in the evening, there was no hot water left, so the second person could not shower. This might be due to a limited hot water tank or the system stopping at a certain time. There were no staff on duty in the evening, so it was not possible to get assistance, and this issue was not mentioned before check-in.

The pros: Top-floor apartment with a small terrace. Brand new and very functional: fully equipped kitchen, tasteful decor, attic bedroom, very comfortable bed, and complete darkness. Ideally located between the Old Port and the Canebière/Noailles district. Very well soundproofed. Attentive housekeeper for mid-stay cleaning and check-out. Minor remarks: No real separation from the neighbors' terrace. You can see each other if you're using it at the same time. Reversible air conditioning: we couldn't get it to raise the temperature even slightly in November.

The room was cleaned and the location was excellent, just in the old port. The house has a history of more than 200 years. The soundproofing of the room is average, breakfast is 14 euros, not bad. Except that, it is great. The front desk and customer service are very good and will help with luggage. There is water, orange juice and snacks at the front desk for free.

During this trip, I was fortunate enough to choose this hotel as my resting place, and it certainly gave me an unforgettable stay. First of all, the check-in process is extremely convenient. I arrived at the hotel a full two hours ahead of the expected check-in time, but the front desk staff did not the slightest inconvenience or evasion, but in a very warm attitude for me to check in quickly. Secondly, the room itself is large and comfortable to live in, and offers a wide variety of kitchenware and cutlery. All in all, convenient check-in, warm service, comfortable room, a perfect experience beyond expectations!

Don't expect to get your deposit back the same day as different banks have different policies, the transfer may be delayed a few days from what I understood. There's no toothpaste or toothbrushes

The location is excellent, just steps from the old port, in an area full of cafes and bars, and we could see the theater from the window. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. The cleanliness was good, but the walls were marked in several places. The building needs maintenance: the door closer was broken and prevented the door from fully opening between the bathroom and the bedroom; the walls and fixtures could use a repaint; the windows could use a clean; the bathroom could use some touch-ups and a new sink stopper; the toilet was difficult to flush. It was okay for a few nights, without high expectations. Complimentary toiletries and two towels per person plus a shower mat are provided, but there is no hair dryer.
