"Amazing place with amazing staff! Facilities are just absolutely amazing and the food is just so authentic and tasty. I also want to say that I have tattoos so, I wasn't able to enter the public onsens but the privates and the one in my room barely made me miss it. Also, souvenir shop is great and the yukatas that they lend you are just absolutely lovely."

"Dear Hotel Team, I did not want to make these points of criticism public and therefore sent you an email on September 16, 2025. Since I have not received any response by October 1, 2025, I am now publishing my points of criticism. Thank you very much for hosting us from September 14 to 16 2025. Your service is so attentive and friendly - it was consistently perfect. Unfortunately, we experienced many shortcomings that I would like to point out to you. The room, unfortunately, was not clean. The sink siphon is yellow, and the bathtub on the balcony is full of residue from the thermal water. We found hair everywhere: on the floor, the bed, and the couch. I would expect a different hygiene standard in a 5-star hotel. The bed linen seemed old and had frayed edges and loose threads sticking out. It did not feel inviting to sleep in. On the terrace, the hanging chair had a hole that looked like it was caused by a cigarette. The wooden surfaces in the room showed a lot of wear and damage in many areas. Simply touching them up with a suitable marker or paint would already make them look newer and more high-quality. At the buffet, the water glasses were unfortunately very small. In the summer heat, I had to fetch four rounds of two glasses each at dinner to stay sufficiently hydrated. At the first breakfast, I got a cappuccino from the coffee machine. No milk came out, even though a staff member had just refilled it, and the remaining coffee tasted strongly of cleaning agent. The taste lingered in my mouth until the evening. I only took one sip and didn’t want to drink any more. On the first night, I was woken up by irregular beeping in the room. After a long search, I identified the safe as the source. The safe was irregularly entering codes on its own without any input. I tried to open it with my PIN - since our laptops were locked inside - but I couldn’t open it anymore. The error HOLD03 appeared, so I wanted to wait the three minutes for a new PIN entry. In the meantime, the safe entered codes again by itself and reactivated the HOLD03 timer. Luckily, I found a three-minute phase when the safe didn’t make an input on its own, and I was able to open it with my PIN. Out of lack of trust, I didn’t lock the laptops in the safe again. I kindly ask you to have the safe serviced and the defect repaired. Because of this, I unfortunately slept poorly and with the hygiene issues and the problems at the buffet, the overall stay was not enjoyable. A single problem would not make the stay worse, but the accumulation of issues put us off and does not correspond to a 5-star hotel charging ¥80,000 per night for a simple double room. I hope my feedback helps you and wish that you can resolve the problems easily and cost-effectively. Your service is on such a high level, and we truly appreciate that. Best regards"

"I stayed at this hotel in early May, and the experience was far from satisfactory. **Onsen Experience:** The onsen features three baths, all at a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius, which is suitable for beginners. The sauna, however, only reached 50 degrees, lacking intensity. Still the Onsen were good with nice atmosphere. **Room Quality:** Our initial room was next to an elevator, even though we asked for the opposite and had a strong smell of smoke. Upon requesting a room change, we were relocated to a lower floor room that was outdated. The odor from the old carpet was pervasive, and despite using deodorant spray and keeping the window open for two days, it remained a discomfort. **Breakfast Incident:** Unfortunately, we also encountered a rather unpleasant situation during breakfast. We had booked the meal, which was not inexpensive, and arrived at the buffet before 9:30 and thought that the buffet closes at 10:00 AM and we still can eat but not take something from buffet, as is customary in other hotels. However, at exactly 10:00, the restaurant staff insisted we leave, abruptly telling us that the restaurant was closed. We had to abandon our food and drinks that we just took 9:50 and exit the restaurant. This was particularly frustrating, as they had seen us taking food earlier and never mentioned that we couldn’t finish our meal. There was no flexibility to allow us even an extra 10 minutes to eat. **Overall Impression:** The service was not customer-oriented, and the overall experience did not justify the price of €250 per night. Also, unfortunately we experienced a view negative situations and given the combination of issues, I personally would stay in this hotel again nor can I recommend this hotel for a pleasant stay."

"I love this hotel! From the moment we were ushered in from the shuttle coming via Odawara stn, the hotel felt very welcoming. Reception was a large open table that is not your typical hotel reception that feel too formal. we were first brought to the lower bar seating area where it’s comfy sofa seating. Check in took awhile as many guests were received from the hotel shuttle bus (25-30 seater). Staff always check in with us on the progress while we waited. Room came with private onsen though I hope it could have been the natural spring water instead of tap. Love the huge room size thats great for little kids to run around, met my standard of cleanliness as well. Breakfast adequate but not a huge spread which I find pricey at 3900 yen. Some bread, fried jap style fish, somen, cold appetisers, veg dips, fruits, around 6-8 hot dishes including omelette and poached eggs. Yet a lot of drink choices fr milk, soy, juices, teas, etc. we had the set dinner 18000 yen and 15000 yen as both of us had diff menus. Was a 3-4 course dinner, nothing out of this world and we didnt want the hassle of walking out to find food. This was one hotel we found many singaporeans (we are one too) as breakfast and dinnertime in resto is when we started noticing the accents. Nearby is a 7-11 nearby around 300m by foot if you feel peckish in middle of the night. Very pleasant stay, like that they provide mpv service to and fro gora station that would be most main boarding point to other attractions, mind that it runs till 6pm so any later you can take the Hakone Tozan bus which brings you to the pizza resto just a short 50m walk from hotel main road."

"The hotel was better than we expected. After a long commute from Tokyo we found the hotel very easy, 5 min walking distance on a straight line from the station. Inside they are stylish and clean, the beds are comfortable, the library area is so cosy and the free snacks and coffee, tea, soft beverages, even free drinks after 19:00 are such a saviors as the shops are closing early so there is nothing you can buy )). The private onsen on the 3rd floor was very clean and relaxing. If I were to come to Hakone again, I would chose the hotel without hesitation. Peaceful and comfortable"

"The hotel rooms are very Japanese-style and clean. The front desk staff was very friendly. Breakfast consisted of three small rolls, yogurt, salad, coffee, and juice, which was more than enough for us. Yunessun Free Pass: Located about a 7-minute walk from the hotel, it was fun to take the kids. There are swimwear and nude areas. The swimwear area has two large outdoor slides, which were fun. Dinner was delicious at the barbecue on the third floor. Getting to the hotel: Take the mountain tram to Kowakudani Station. There's a steep climb, so if you have luggage, it's recommended to ship it to the hotel from the station; carrying it yourself is very tiring. There's also a bus stop near the hotel called Horaien Station, which I felt was closer. The bus goes to Hakone Port and rides the pirate ship."

"This is an unconventional high-end small hotel ... comfortable and quiet environment ... very close to the Yonggu attractions (only 10-15 minutes by car). Whether it is dinner or breakfast, I am very thoughtful. I can see that the chef has ulterior motives to make ... because I don't eat cattle at check-in. The chef immediately arranges alternative food. Although it is very late, the food prime number is not affected. ... It is worth recommending ... staff~ You can communicate in English ... as foreign employees. Each room has its own hot spring (real hot spring) and it is a plus ...😌"

"It's a great getaway from the traditional Hakone crowds. We booked the private onsen due to the tattoo policies and the top floor rooms have a good view to the moutains. The restaurant facilities, service and politeness are great and we would definitely return. A great plus: an amazing cascate easy trail 5min away from the hotel. With the right shoes it takes 45-1h to reach the lake and avoid the crowds piling up on the hakone bus services."

"Absolutely love this place! The staff are very friendly, and the onsen is clean and well-maintained. There are 3 outdoor pools and 2 indoor pools, along with a steam room and sauna, which make for a relaxing experience. The facility is open for both day trips and overnight stays, but staying overnight is much better for a more chill and leisurely time. There’s a massage chair available, but it requires payment. Breakfast is also delicious and definitely worth it. The only downside is the location—it’s not very convenient and requires some walking. If you’re traveling light, it’s manageable. They do have a payable shuttle bus, but the timing isn’t great. Walking can be pleasant if the weather’s nice, or you can opt for a taxi. Overall, I’ll definitely book this place again for the relaxing atmosphere!"

AAnonymous UserThis is my first time to experience this kind of pure Japanese-style hotel. Although I only stayed there for one night in a hurry, the experience was very rich and colorful. The service staff was warm and considerate. Although we relied almost entirely on translation machines and body language, it did not affect our communication. The aunt who was responsible for taking care of us would patiently help us change our clothes, remind us to appreciate the cherry blossoms, and ask us where to go. It felt like my own relatives were taking care of the children who came to travel. This is probably the meaning of a family hotel. Dinner and breakfast were very delicious and sufficient! The girls really couldn't finish it! When I learned that someone of us had a birthday, I got a handwritten blessing card, which was very touching! Our friends agreed to stay more time to come here next time!

RRileypagesThe most satisfying hotel in this Hakone trip📸 The bus station is right at the door of the hotel There is also a Family Mart opposite the hotel, which is perfect for foodies Buying a lot of snacks every day, and having fun with my sisters every day When I get tired, I go to the hot springs. There is a complete set of toiletries in the room Bath towels, bathrobes, and slippers🩴 The hot springs are rotated by men and women every day. The scenery inside is more beautiful I feel relaxed all over my body when I take a hot spring every day♨️ My skin has improved a lot Recommended, I will come again next time🕹️

BBolanghaoxiaoxiannvThe hot spring hotel is very beautiful, and it feels very old when you walk inside. The public areas are carefully decorated, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. There are private hot springs that can be booked, and there are not many people in the public hot springs. You can directly book a hot spring before breakfast. Dinner and breakfast are delicious. There is a young lady who speaks super fluent English. Communication is barrier-free, and every dish is very clear. The only drawback is that the location of the hotel is not very convenient if you don't have a private car. You need to call to pick up the station. If you don't have a mobile phone number, you can contact by email, but you can't guarantee timely contact... If you drop off at the check-out time, you can only be sent to Sheguye to take the bus, but there are not many buses, and they are not very punctual, so you may have to wait for a long time. Except for the inconvenient transportation, other experiences are great!

GGuest UserIf you have extra money, this could be a nice way to indulge. However, a word of warning. If you're arriving at Odawara train station, there's no way to get to the hotel except by the hotel shuttle. Taxis won't take you. And the hotel shuttle won't take you unless you've placed your name on the reservation list ahead of time. Nobody warned me about this. I'd read online that a connecting train takes you near the hotel, but this isn't true either. I arrived during a snow/ice storm and waited over 3 hours before I could get a ride to the hotel. The shuttle driver wouldn't let me on. I called the hotel front desk 3 or 4 times, but they weren't very helpful. I suppose this is the language barrier. They meant well. But regardless, if a shuttle reservation is the only way to access a remote mountain top hotel, it's pretty important to make sure your guests understand this. Once I did arrive, I have to admit the room was beautiful. The buffet dinner was fantastic but not included in the price of the room - a little disappointing, since the room is already so expensive. Lots of extra costs, so be careful. I received a really great massage in my room. The onsen hot spring was very nice, and free (included in room charge). Breakfast the next morning was also included in room charge. The hotel bar was closed, though. There wasn't much opportunity to socialize or meet people. I did check out the lake the next morning, which was beautiful in the snowfall. I'm sharing photos of that. There wasn't time to check out much else because I had to get back on the shuttle bus at 10:30 to catch my next train. I suppose if there hadn't been an ice storm, I would have checked out more of the surrounding area and appreciated it.

CcghucgkeThe hotel is just around the corner from the mountain train station. The environment is very good and the facilities are complete. Toiletries and lotions are provided. You can check in directly with just a change of clothes. I left my luggage at the Tokyo Hotel. The Kaiseki dinner was of good quality. If you are not used to Kaiseki, you can get off at the previous stop, Mori no Bijutsu. There is Lawson opposite. Buy some snacks, instant noodles and cook in the microwave!

GGuest UserA fantastic hotel, though quite expensive. Firstly, the setting is superb. Waking up and opening the window, you're greeted with picturesque mountain and water views, with Mount Fuji visible in the distance. Secondly, the rooms are spacious with well-designed functional areas, making them very convenient. As the hotel is a bit far from the main commercial areas, we opted for a one-night package that included two meals. For dinner, we chose the French option, which was incredibly refined and delicious, with some particularly distinctive appetizers. Paired with a small bottle of Japanese Dassai sake, I'd give the dining experience an 8.5 out of 10. After 10 PM, hoping to avoid the crowds, we headed to the onsen (hot spring). A crucial tip: don't mistake the initial shoe lockers at the entrance for your main storage. The first set is only for shoes; there are separate lockers inside for your clothes. Also, always remember to thoroughly cleanse your body before entering the communal baths. For breakfast the next morning, we opted for the Japanese set meal, which featured nine small dishes, each offering a small portion – more for the variety and aesthetic. While it wasn't on the same level as the French dinner (and you can't really compare breakfast to dinner), it was a pleasant change. If you have ample time, I'd recommend staying an extra night to truly soak in the unique tranquility. The Japanese approach to developing tourist attractions is quite unlike what you might find elsewhere; there's no sense of over-commercialization or maximizing every last cent. On the vast Lake Ashi, for example, aside from the 'pirate ships,' we couldn't find any small boats available for rent, which I suppose might be due to safety considerations.

MMeow sensai**Positives:** ✅ **Modern & Clean:** Well-maintained, spacious rooms with comfortable onsen. ✅ **Good Location:** Convenient access to surrounding areas. **Areas for Improvement:** ⚠️ **Room Location:** - Room extremely far from dining/foot bath – exhausting daily walks (especially with foot concerns). - *Suggestion:* Offer closer room options or service for guests with mobility needs. ⚠️ **Dining Experience (Dinner & Breakfast):** - **Food Quality:** Lamb not fresh; overall quality below ”1 stay 2 meals” onsen standard. No beef , only lamb meat is not fresh. Not satisfied with the food quality. We wanna have cup noodles after meal. Breakfast is slight better. - **Variety:** Insufficient choices (both Western & Japanese); lacked local/seasonal specialties expected at onsen hotels. Pretty disappointed. We been to many onsen hotel in Japan. Never encountered this. - **Service/Clarity:** Buffet poorly organized; unclear signage led to confusion over food availability. - **Expectations:** Meals didn’t showcase regional ingredients or highlight local cuisine like other onsen resorts. Hakone is famous onsen should showcase their seasonal ingredients in this region. **Summary:** Strong potential with modern facilities, but **critical improvements needed in dining quality** and **room accessibility** to meet onsen hotel standards.

IIyinI had a wonderful stay at Rakuten Stay Fujimi Terrace! The day before check-in, I received an email with the entrance code, which made the whole process very smooth. The room was exactly as described on the website—with large windows offering an incredible view of Mt. Fuji, the torii gate, and the lake. The scenery alone made it more than worth it. We had eight people staying in two 4-person rooms located on the third floor. One of the rooms was slightly larger and had extra bedding stored in the closet—enough to comfortably sleep two additional people. There were two bathrooms and two toilets in total, which was perfect for a group or family. The main bathroom included a sauna, hot spring-style bath, shower area, double sinks, a washing machine, and a water dispenser. The second bathroom had a separate shower area and a single sink. Both toilets were separated spaces from bathrooms with high-tech with bidet functions and small sinks. The large dining table and spacious sofa area easily seated all of us. We spent many relaxing moments on the balcony, soaking our feet in the warm onsen foot bath, chatting, and admiring the stunning view. The kitchen was fully equipped with a dishwasher, detergent, a large fridge stocked with complimentary drinks, a capsule coffee machine, and a Japanese rice cooker that made delicious rice. The beds were on the firmer side but still soft and very comfortable. It was just a 3-minute walk along the lake to the 7-Eleven, accessible by elevator from the building. The nearby pier was where we boarded the pirate ship cruise, and about 13 minutes further along the lake was the Peace Torii—a fantastic photo spot. Don’t forget to grasp some delicious bread at “bakery and table” before boarding to the ship. After check-out, we stored our luggage in the lockers at Motohakone Port, took the pirate ship to Togendai, transferred to the ropeway to Sounzan, and visited Gora and Kowakudani before taking the mountain bus back to Motohakone to pick up our luggages. There are 4 lockers for suitcase up to 32 inches ¥700, 12 lockers for 24 inches ¥600, and 10 lockers for smaller size of bags ¥400. From there, we had a pre-arranged shuttle take us back to Tokyo. The whole route was smooth and well-organized—perfect for a larger group traveling without a car. Overall, I highly recommend Rakuten Stay!

Very Good
KkitekidThe exterior is in the style of a simple European manor, and the interior should have been renovated in recent years. The key is a traditional key with a long plexiglass room card, which is very impressive. There is a natural hot spring private bath, where you can enjoy the view on the hillside. There are massage chairs, TVs, etc. in the bathing and changing lounge area for you to rest and cool down before returning to the room. The service is very considerate. The breakfast is a Western set meal, which is exquisite and can be eaten as a breakfast. The restaurant faces the hillside and the scenery is invincible. We arrived very late, and the front desk was also very friendly. The front desk was also very friendly during the day, and they responded to every request. Luggage can be stored. The bed and tatami are very good, and the quilt is a duck down quilt, which makes you sleep very comfortably at night. The disadvantage is that you have to climb a slope to leave ”Gora”. There is a car to pick you up at 18:00 in the evening, so you can only climb if it's late. It's closer to ”Park Shang” and there is not such a big slope, but there is still a car at 22:00 on the mountain climbing line to ”Gora”, and there seems to be no car at 18:00 on the traction railway to ”Park Shang”. If you go late, you can only climb or take a taxi. We checked in late, so we only enjoyed the service of being sent to Gora after checking out.
